The sugar within the chocolate has fermented and added to the alcohol within the drink
Sorry, impossible I'm afraid, unless your mix was very weak in alcohol content to start with.
Firstly, where did the yeast (or similar bacteria) come from to ferment the sugar?
Secondly, biological fermentation of sugar into alcohol has an ultimate level of approx 16% alcohol, as this is the alcohol strength which kills the yeast bacteria off.
ie you can't brew alcoholic drinks over 16% alcohol.
Anything stronger has been fortified by the addition of distilled spirit.
You just got tipsy.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -

i take your word for it. Its what the OH reckoned had happened, it was very very strong tasting, far stronger than it should've been given that it was a small bottle with a lot of chocolate in it.
and okay, i don't usually drink, but it also usually takes more than a shot of vodka to get me tipsy!!
rwaite: a lot depends on how strong you want it, i've had chilli vodka where a single tiny tiny sip (i.e. just wetting my lips) left me feeling like i'd eaten an entire chilli con carne.. we've vodka in the fridge that has to be diluted down with more vodka cos i made the mistake of using scotch bonnet chillis to make it with.. LOL.. so less is definetly more. i would put in some large fat chillis into the bottle, and keep trying it every day, when it gets to a heat you're happy with, remove the chillis.

I hope it's not too late, but I read somewhere that Cola bottles will turn your bottle of vodka into an expensive (not particularly nice) jelly!
It may be worth trying a small amount first with this, to see how it goes before attempting it on a full bottle.
I've read cola cubes work...0 -
Ooo I think I might try this!If my typing is pants or I seem partcuarly blunt, please excuse me, it physically hurts to type. :wall: If I seem a bit random and don't make a lot of sense, it may have something to do with the voice recognition software that I'm using!0

Jonny - I wish I'd have seen your post earlier, although it hasn't turned into a jelly mess yet, they haven't dissolved very well.:o
My lemon sherbet vodka is absolutely fantastic and I will be doing more of this one - but I will be doing the kola kube one - it seems to be that boiled sweeties do a lot better than anything else. Thanks for the tip J.
Oooh I think I'm gonna sample my lemon sherbet again!!....."A" is for Opple if yowm spaking loike a yamyam!0 -
