i think fate has intervened - what comes around goes around - you will get a fabulous new home without having to shift manky second hand furniture and you will not have to deal with someone so difficult and stubborn and greedy.
good luck in your new house in 2008 !!0 -
Also, from the Guardian today:

Maybe that will make you feel ever so good about your decision !!!0 -
Well done Ghekkomanic - you and the GF absolutely made the right decision - both emotionally and financially!
You will look back in six months or so and realise you had a lucky escape. The flat is overpriced (by a considerable margin) and the vendor is a nightmare.
And once the kebab shop/brothel/lap-dancing club/fishmongers/gun shop/walk in wound centre/counselling centre/soup kitchen for out-of-work estate agents* (*delete as applicable) opens downstairs the flat will be literally worthless.
You have both escaped by the skin of your teeth.
I think we should all contact the agent and arrange our respective viewings; perhaps we'll even appear on that brain-dead BBC TV show Open House!
Now, if the BBS is reading this - you never now, the next viewer (sorry, sucker) through the door might be ONE OF US!
ha ha ha .................... (laughs manically)0 -

Ghekko, I'm really glad for you and your girlfriend. Now just rent for a while, save up as much as you can and make the most of any drops in house prices six months down the line. I really think that this is the best thing that could have happened for you both and I hope that you do find a place that you can fall in love with and which doesn't give you as much hassle as this one has!
All the best

Think I'll go to Ikea and buy my own. I don't know the seller, but I hate her!!!
Can't believe this is the end of the thead... Keep it going with the rest of your flat search Gekko - there are plenty of us with no life it seems0 -
Oh Gekko thats fantastic news :T :T
If you are ever in the locale of the Hitchcock I'll buy you a pint
Keep on looking, the right thing will come along. With a touch of market movement it will be cheaper then too. IN the meanwhile keep an eye out for Ikea 2nd hand stuff on ebay. I bought a used once bedframe & mattress in immaculate condition for my spare room for 30 quid on ebay. I also sold a 70 quid cabinet on there for a tenner as well. I know ikea stuff isnt worth sod all 2nd hand
If you want any advice at all on the local market, please feel free to PM me at any time xx:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Well done Ghekko and Girlfriend...a flat just as nice but cheaper and not with overpriced furniture over a shop will be along soon.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
Well done, you won't regret this.
That means money in the bank for you and a lesson learned for this dodgy vendor.
You've got to love that karmic boomerang!!0 -
And God bless us every one.0
