I said well done for sticking to his guns and not being railroaded into a large purchase.

Oh yeah this I agree, i just wanted to point out the difference between 'well done for sticking to your guns' and 'well done for not buying the place' (well din't buy the place but didn't walk away).....

but maybe it's just me

I would have never sent the link to seller though
She complained to be harrassed by a few phone calls, imagine if she's a real nasty one, I would be scared! :rotfl:

I didn't send the link to her in the end.

I thought I'd better check with my GF first, and her reaction (and catblue who PMd me) suggested the same as you - it wouldn't be a very good idea.

I'm glad I didn't. I posted here for advice, not to be spiteful. We're now looking for other flats - time to move on!

well done for acting like the grown up in all this - and not doing the "throwing toys out of pram sending her this link"

you will find a much better cheaper place - i thought it was tiny and cramped....

    good luck

  • I was so impressed by the furniture shown in the flat that I've been in touch with the vendor and I'm currently in a bidding war.

I'm about to offer £1,500 for the two armchairs in the sitting room. I was a bit worried they were overpriced, but the vendor's willing to throw in the fluffy cushions for free, as well as some loose change and an old leaky biro she's found down the back.

Should I make a lower offer?

    ;)

I quite like the twigs :o

Guess I'm the only one :o

But I'd have fairy lights in them too :o:o:o

Wouldn't buy the flat though ;)

I'm sorry but am I the only one here who has tried to see it from the seller's point of view.
She feels hassled by the buyer. Feels they took too long to sort out the mortgage. (probably thinks, why didn't they sort the mortgage out before looking for flats.)
Agrees a price with the buyer, has a better offer and still gives them the option to continue. Agrees a higher price. (which is common in a rising market)
Agrees a price for the fixtures, fitting and furniture.
THEN the buyer tries to wriggle out of the agreed price for furniture AND lowers the offer in relation to the flat.

It's no small wonder he's having arguments with his girlfriend. If he hadn't been so belligerent, he'd be in the flat now, in time for Christmas with a happy girlfriend, happy flat and saved an awful lot of hassle. (Moving, house hunting etc etc)

  • They chose the wrong flat, agreed to pay too much for both the flat and the furniture, and then peed about for weeks instead of pulling out straight away, due to buyer's remorse. That's why I said it would be interesting to hear from the vendor.
    Been away for a while.
