Still following the thread and all my feelings are still don't buy this place. An EA in your own area is saying don't do it, please listen to her!! I remember the fear of buying for the first time and I made a right pigs ear of it, wish I had found this place then as probably should have walked away from this flat as had many similar problems with a greedy seller, the advice on here is priceless and may help other FTB. Yes I also recognised most of the contents as Ikea too!!
:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:

I still like the sofa... But please don't buy the flat.
  • A freehold terrace (2 floors, 5 rooms, garden, vacant) 2a Primrose Road Leyton E10, just sold at auction for £190,000.00. At todays auction with Barnard Marcus, Lot 33.
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

I think you should go for it if its what you really want! I personally think its really nice!

  • It's not a new build, but I'm not sure how common the flat is. No harm posting a link to the advert I guess:

    http://www.bairstoweves.co.uk/blc/property-details.php?pcode=LEY070282&dbtype=&rps=BLC_RPS&pamend=1187353854

I like it a lot, but it's difficult to say whether my ill feeling towards it now is wholely because of the attitude of the seller. It's done to a very nice standard, but then that means I wouldn't be able to add to the value of it (not that I'm any kind of DIY pro!) and I would certainly be at the mercy of any rise or fall in house prices.

You're right it is tough weighing business interests against emotions. All things considered, while I'm not pulling out of the sale I wouldn't lose any sleep over not getting this flat.

Wow, this thread is STILL going?? :rotfl:

Ghekko, the flat does look very nice, I admit BUT nothing different than 60 minute makeover couldn't do in, well, 60 minutes!!

Its very clean and fresh looking and the furniture is well chosen BUT I would struggle to find how on earth she can say £2500 for it!!!

I don't like the fact its above a shop, like people have said previously, shops change etc.

I think personally its the decor thats pulling at your heart strings (and your girlfriends) and you're not thinking straight because of it. ANY flat could be made to look that nice with a little bit of magnolia paint and wood flooring. ;)

How are you feeling about it all now? Sorry, missed a few days updates!

Edited to say: why has she got both lamps on in the bedroom? I am guessing to not make the room look as dark as it probably is... what other tricks has anybody else noticed that this vendor has done in the photo's, if any?

yeah, leave ghekko alone, he asked for advice, and it's up to him to decide what he wants to do. it's not fair to berate him because he's waiting to see how it all pans out and not doing what you think he should do.

Actually, he asked for advice - got a load of people telling him "Walk away" but has ignored them all. He then posts yet another example of jaw-dropping audacity from the evil seller which elicits even more cries of "Walk away" and ... ignores them too. Repeat ad infinitum as the thread grows and grows.

I suspect we are the victim of quite a sophisticated bit of trolling.

Every pound less borrowed (to buy a house) is more than two pounds less to repay and more than three pounds less to earn, over the course of a typical mortgage.

I've been posting to message boards for years, and I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone take advice from strangers quickly and change their minds about something major. It seems that, had he not posted here at all, he'd be jumping through the seller's hoops. As it is, he's reverted to his original offer price, said "no, thanks" to the furniture, and is willing to walk away. That's pretty good, really, for a message board.
