Today I am grateful for headspace, for the sunshine, for a super mellow day at work, for dh arranging a chap to sort out the manky guttering, for actual leaves on one of my apple trees, for getting some stuff done, for a beautiful photo of Keswick water from my sister, for getting a little sock sewing-up done, for my chard seeds sprouting.

A good but tiring day. Spent most of the weekend being unhappy with myself - slept Saturday which was fine but couldn't really get going yesterday either. The suitcase was unpacked (DS2 came round so I asked him to bring it upstairs and put it on the bed for me), clothes washed / put away and washing dried outside draped over the garden furniture but not much else.

I had another appointment with the occupational Therapist today. I was awake before 6am but DS3 had to shake me awake when the alarm went off - he was starting to panic as he thought I wasn't breathing. Used the walker to get to the bus stop, caught the little bus to the infirmary and bought an all day ticket (4.60 only for the one operator).

Much happier since my appointment as I had to go through all the things I had got done - bulky items collection, sewing stuff gone, shelf clearing and having a clear route from the front door to the back and being able to get to the understairs shelves. Think I've been dwelling on 'still to do' and worrying about it.

OT complimented me on my outfit, particularly my jacket - had put my pretty clothes on as it was sunny (and to cheer me up). Also used perfume. She was concerned about my income (or lack of) so I went through it with her - not allowed to retire and get my pension, too broken for any sort of regular employment, not broken enough to be considered disabled (and want to avoid being put on Universal Credit at all costs).

We have agreed on another home visit in 6 weeks - so that's my new target. Will continue being rigorous with my own things, passive aggressive with theirs (put it in labelled bags and shove it back in their room), persuade DS3 about the next big furniture reduction (grumbling about heavy lifting as soon as it's mentioned), get straight enough to have the paid spring clean (and work some more on getting DS3 to pay for it).

Went upstairs to my doctor's to ask about the results (blood tests and chest x-ray) and doctor needs to see me to talk about both of them, so made an appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

Have exercise class and cinema club on Friday so this week is pretty full. Funeral is Friday afternoon of the week after and the following week I have a Thursday appointment at the hospital 8 miles away to be fitted with sleep monitoring equipment which has to be returned before 10am on the Friday - thinking about booking a night in a cheap hotel to make the whole thing less fraught. The department is open from 8am so if I could return the equipment first thing and catch the bus (buses?) back, I might be able to make most of my exercise/ info class.

Went from the infirmary to the end of the line (nearly) to get salad stuff including celery and mushrooms from Morries, then got off near mum's coming back (planned to rest, leave most of my things there, go home to sort library books, then back to mum's). I ate my salad, put my feet up (must ask doctor about that - it's now 3 months and not getting significantly better, have an idea about what it is).

Mum said I didn't need to go back so I've put bedding on the line to dry, made the bed (took forever, many layers and we were smoothing and pulling about a foot at a time with stops to get our breath back and sorted through the cupboards and restocked with soup, tomatoes, beans, tinned veg and cornflakes - will need to do another big shop soon (home delivery) but it's not mega urgent.

Came home, did the library run (books needed returning or renewing and the online system has technical difficulties) and have been slothing since.

Will try to participate a bit more this week. Today I am grateful for sunshine (must start hayfever tablets), pretty clothes, the colour turquoise, a handy bus service, co-operation between passengers (too many shopping trolley owners taking the best seats), for lovely salads and water.
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.

A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot and realise how blessed you are.

You have permission to rest. You are not responsible for fixing everything that is broken. You do not have to try and make everyone happy. For now, take time for you. It's time to replenish.

Hugs to all turtles and lurkers.

    Good morning turtles.
Yesterday ended up being NSD 12/15 as I realised I could stretch the food shop.

Saw the first cockroach I've seen in a long while. Pretty much resolved to the fact that they are going to be there until I leave. (3 full months to go)

Its been 1005 days since the EU referendum. Got me thinking about the 1000 day challenge again (I can't remember who suggested it on a previous thread sorry!) If 1000 days should have been long enough to negotiate a brexit although we've screwed it up royally, then I can definitely achieve something good in 1000 days. Maybe twisted logic but there we go!

    Have a lovely day turtles

  • Mothernerd: I'm glad you had a better day and your OT has been helpful. One step at a time :). Good luck for the doc tomorrow.

No idea where I am on NSDs, it's been a bit of an odd month. Might have a pause and start again in April.

Small win yesterday: went into Lush as it's my birthday today and thought I might treat myself to some bath stuff. Couldn't find anything I liked enough to justify the price tag, so came out again empty handed. Must be the first time ever :D.

Glorious blue skies here - although I had ice on my car when I went to take DS2 to the bus stop 15 mins ago! (It's a good 30 min walk at pace otherwise) Temp currently around 3 degrees (cue singing ah-ahh, ooooh-oooh in my head! :D) and grass is still white where sun hasn't hit it yet - but the promise is there of a lovely day.

Plan today is fence painting - but I am going to wait until it warms up a little, as where I want to start is in the shade at present. Am dressed ready for the event in old clothes with holes in :D - will look a bit of a sight for DS3's school run, but I don't care :D Washing is doing and should be ready to hang out after school run, and I've done some filing and work-related emails this morning already :)

Other plans are checking out new energy provider - my fix is up next month, so I have a bill next to my laptop as a reminder to sort that. Also have 3 things I want to get listed on flebay - if they don't sell they will go in CS bag (2 x P'r Una items, worn twice and a R*d Herring item worn once - none of which were bought by me, I hasten to add!!)

Wishing you all a lovely day, fellow turtles :) xx

  • My predictions of racking up some NSD's before the month is out has been quickly amended. I've a haircut to get today and I've got a 2nd date on Thursday, so I've got spend days either way which I had forgotten about.

March as I predicted has been manic and with lots of spendy days, something which I need to address for April!

    Hi guys
I’ve just realised I’ve not checked in for a while so here goes

Waste - not much waste at all. I’ve taken to using more frozen veg so I only use what I need, then ends of three bags ended up in a veg curry last night.

Invest in myself - lots more veggie meals, a good diet and losing weight has made me feel so much better, it’s rare my ankles and knees creak these days. Also putting my feet up in front of a good tv prog.

Needs - we live quite a simple life and need very little really.

Simplicity - I’m downsizing the amount of stuff we have so lots of stuff has gone to charity this month. I’ve finally got OH on board, it’s still a work in progress but a couple of hours here and there is showing results. It’s amazing how much stuff we have considering we live in a tiny one bed flat.

I’ve got £11 left of my £100 food budget but will need more salad and bread before this month finishes and I’ve only managed 8/15 NSDs but this month was damage limitation month so I’m not too bothered about this.

I hope you guys are all feeling good about you achievements this month.
    Keep well guys

    Hello Turtles

Beautiful day here. 2 washloads drying outside. LO has been staying with Grandma but is back today. I really missed him!

Been doing well with waste, but ordered some clothes for work and they all came with plastic hangers. I wish you could opt out, like you do with shopping bags. I have reused the other wrappings for EBay items or bin liners, but not sure what to with the hangers

Failed miserably with learning Italian. Have kept up with my exercises and meditation though

Still clearing out and decluttering. Took a bin bag full of bits and pieces to th village jumble. You can’t tell though!

Think we have spent more than normal with our little holiday and other bits and pieces that have come at the same time. Hopefully there will still be a bit to put towards the house fund

I hope everyone is enjoying the better weather!
