This is your Monday morning reminder that you are amazing and that you can handle anything.
NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!
  • It's been a manic 5 days what with trips around the world (for work, unfortunately) and visitors over a packed weekend, so I think I've stalled on 8 NSD's.

Salt in the wound, today won't be one either as I need to go to the SM!!! I should manage 5 NSD's this week, but I've said that before.

Popped into Tesc0 this morning for crisps for lunchboxes (hadn't realised we were so low as I eat them only once in a blue moon) - also scored some fab YS items in chilled cabinet - and some frozen RTC items, too. Freezer is now rather stuffed!! All stuff we'll eat anyway :) Any fruit and veggies I bought were all loose with no bags/ plastic packaging - just the stickers I printed for scan and pack :)

It is a beautiful sunny day here - such a shame I've only a half-load of laundry, so am not bothering! :D I have, though, cleaned out the g-pig hutch, done a small amount of weeding, done the ironing and am going to put that away now before lunch :)

Beautiful birdsong in the garden this morning - and lots of signs of life on all the trees - Spring is very welcome :)

    Hi everyone

I had such a good weekend, we went to the mountains just 2 hours north of Madrid and walked through the snow, got a bit lost and then sunbathed on the rocks for a few hours before heading home. We got a bit lost which added to the excitement and had better views than if we'd stuck to the beaten track.

This morning I've woken up to the news that the classes I teach on Fridays (only 3 hours) are being permanently cancelled. This will impact my savings targets but I think I can make them up in other ways. It would be better to find classes closer to my house.

Walked to Tesco and back today (4 miles in total) and bought the wee ones Easter eggs. Got a nice piece of YS beef for dinner on Sunday.

Got lots of other things done. Three loads of washing drying on the line, Made chicken stock from yesterday's chicken and turned it into soup using lots of cheap tomatoes that I bought last week. Collected Himself's prescription from chemist and my glasses from optician. A bit of tidying and a bit of cleaning and a tiny bit of shopping

Just sitting down now having a wee rest before dinner (the rest of the chicken and fried potatoes.

    Lots to do tomorrow.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.

One load of washing dry on the line today in the lovely sunshine and the heating off apart from first thing this morning. Have walked the dog to the woods and he then spent the rest of the day sunbathing in front of the french doors - not a bad life.

Gas engineer is coming tomorrow so still no hot water.

Have done some cleaning today and applied for a couple of jobs. No money spent and none yesterday either which is good.

Pay day tomorrow so our new month will start. I still have £20 left in our fuel budget and I normally transfer that to savings but I am going to order a rucksack cover for DD (thank you to Millets for messing up my order), I will get this on ebay, also need to order some ground flaxseed and some paper stemmed cotton buds. I know I can get the cotton buds from the supermarket but they come in horrible plastic boxes which defeats the whole point so I am getting some which are just wrapped in card.

apple muncher - Yes I am now getting more excited. Going next week.
Toni'sfriend - That is great news.
    NSD today - 18/20.
Went to the grief retreat this weekend. The counsellor and the 2 priests running it were compassionate and non judgemental. The grounds are lovely. Did spend money on each day. Friday and Sunday cab fares from priory/station. Brought 3 things from the shop at the priory. Also brought a small bottle of wine to have at dinner on Saturday evening. Most of us brought wine on the table. We were all sitting together who were on the group.
Just stayed in today as was tired. Did not sleep well at retreat due to the plumbing system in the old building where I was sleeping.
The electrician came and did the light fitting outside my flat above my door(do not have a communal hallway). Great to have one of the little things I need to get done to the flat.

  • Hi all

Sorry I haven't posted in a couple of days. I have had a busy weekend. I had a lovely night out with DP in a cosy Italian on Saturday evening:) I then spent Sunday catching up on house work.

    Waste management
    - Food waste - The month is nearly over and I am pleased with how I have improved regarding food waste. Thanks apple muncher for the focus and everyone else for the encouragement and motivation. :T:T
    - Plastics – Continuing to be innovative with plastic waste.
    - Utilities – Two load of laundry line dried.
    - Money – Still focusing on reducing spending and aiming to be within budget at the end of the month.

    Invest in yourself
    - Do something every single day that makes you happy.
I have planned some quiet time for reading later.
    - Do something else every single day that takes you a little bit nearer to your long-term goals (and now is a good time to set some, if you don’t have any…)
I've been to the gym at the weekend.
    - Learn a new skill or re-start an old one.
    Still thinking.
    - Can you grow any food this year?
My basil plant is surviving. I need to think of a few more easy to grow plants.

    Needs not wants
    - We all know Martin’s mantra. Be consistent in applying it. Learn to distinguish between what you truly need and what you want to have now and simply cannot ever live without…
Focusing on the needs. I'm determined to get to the end of the month without spending on the wants.
    - Appreciate what you have and enjoy it.
I am grateful for a productive day, leftovers for lunch and no cooking, happy healthy children and a quiet evening.

    Simplicity

-Put routines in place that keep your life running smoothly and make things automatic.
I am going to work on a beauty routine.
    - Simplify your stuff. Just get rid of the unnecessary stuff. Donate it to a charity shop. Freecycle it. Give it to friends and neighbours.
I have decluttered a few items of clothing for the charity shop.
    - Make space for yourself.
I tidied and reorganised my bedroom at the weekend.
    - Cut out the extra noise in your life. This might be computer games, the Interweb, tv, radio, certain people. Allow yourself peace and quiet to simply be.
    A relaxing evening planned.
    - Be frugal in your needs.
I haven't purchased any cleaning products or clothes.
    12/15 NSDs.
    11/12 Lunch to work.
    No vending machines purchases.

Have a good evening everyone. Xx
