The Virgin regular saver chat was extraordinary though in both the volume of posts, drowning out any other useful information in that thread, and the sheer repetitiveness, down to the level of detail discussing the mode of transport to the branch or the choice of tea or coffee on offer. It really was something else.Eco_Miser said:RG2015 said:No need for apologies as this is the appropriate place. For some reason though, Marcus enjoys so much attention here that multiple threads always appear.
The same is true of Virgin Money regular savers which invariably had much more chatter on separate threads to the main regular saver thread.
Perhaps that is the reason. The fact that Marcus attracts so much more peripheral attention means that separate threads keep the main thread cleaner.A Virgin Money Regular Saver thread was created deliberately to keep the chatter off the main RS thread, where it was causing annoyance.
For completeness, it's worth mentioning the Coventry limited access saver at 0.5% on this thread. Same rate as Marcus, with more strings attached, but supporting a decent building society.0 -

Your choice, obviously, but I would find the multiple emails from a busy thread I follow annoying, so I don't subscribe to most. I don't search for news either, just read what has been posted and looks interesting. This particular thread often seems behind when a new or improved account is announced.I-LOV-MONEY said:I receive an email informing me that there is a new post to a thread I am following. If Marcus hadn't sent their email I may not have noted it for some time as I don't always note the interest rate when logging in. I would just expect that sort of intformation to be posted on this thread, as I am not going to start searching to see if there are any other threads, just in case there is some news.

I think the issue with this thread is that it isn't maintained - many will be familiar with the regular saver equivalent, where the dedicated @Special_Saver2 makes a point of keeping the thread up to date at least weekly, and its comprehensive listing posts in particular, providing a very useful 'one stop shop' resource. Obviously the thread attracts plenty of ad hoc posts too, but this one just has the latter without anyone managing lists - the main MSE savings page is kept reasonably up to date though (at least daily in theory), so is probably a better place to monitor than this thread, albeit this needs to be done manually.Eco_Miser said:

AFAICS, https://moneyfacts.co.uk/ is the main source for all other "top X account" sites and pages. Might as well go there directly, as it doesn't filter out offers for no apparent reason.2

There are several of these but I quite like this is money.

I suppose the main question is which is which is kept most up to date?

It does vary by a day or two but the MSE Forum Savings and Investments board is usually the fastest with eagle eyed users' posts.I-LOV-MONEY said:I suppose the main question is which is which is kept most up to date?
Last September, Skipton launched a 1,20% easy access which was posted here and following significant subscriptions was closed to new applicants within a couple of days. If I recall correctly, it was closed before many of the main sites had included it.

PS it was three days.

PS2: Just seen on page 404 of this thread that Moneyfacts had advance notice of the Skipton 1.20% account one day before it was launched.
I also have just found the new way to do an advanced search on this site.0
