They (Virgin) delivered on way more than promises not made.

    What do you mean?
Apparently they paid double interest to some lucky customers and in the not-too-distant past they increased the interest rate on fixed rate regular savers part way through the fixed term.

Rates are definitely creeping up with Skipton now offering 0.60% pa for a minimum balance of £5,000 allowing three withdrawals per annum.

Cynergy have just jumped in at 0.60% including a one year bonus of 0.30%, but starting at £1 with no withdrawal restrictions.

Looks good, but would have to make a diary note to withdraw (unless rates have increased) at the end of the year.

Just a reminder that the Skipton online bonus saver 7 0.5% bonus expires in five weeks.

Might be time for your next shuffling

My first thought was that the bonus was for 12 months so everyone would have a different expiry date. Then I remembered that the subscription was only open for 1 or 2 days so it will be the same for everyone give or take a day or two.

Annoying to have to change because this account is one of the few to allow future withdrawals ie quasi standing orders.

Just checked, and it was launched on 15 Sept and pulled on 17 Sept.

Is Cynergy any good? Could other banks also now raise their rates to match it?

It's always possible. As the account is Easy Access you can always move it if something better comes along.
