7 Labour members quit party

JEREMY Corbyn’s Labour Party harbours a culture of “bullying, bigotry and intimidation,” according to it's own MPs

Chris Leslie on Sky News just now "The Labour Party is rotten to the core".

Oh dear. Seems like only yesterday all we heard was "oh Jeremy Corbyn" along with endless claims he somehow won the last election despite getting a good spanking.

Seven may have walked the plank. Huge gamble as to how many more will follow. Suspect many of these were going to be deselected. Despite having safe seats. Time for by elections. Needs to be clear what they are standing for as independents.

It looks like there won't be many remotely moderate Labour MPs by the time of the next election. This 7 & any others that join them will undoubtedly be replaced by Momentum-backed extremists.

Blairite views will be extinguished. As was suggested a while back. Labour is returning back to it's dark days of being unelectable again. Politics of 50 years ago. Blair must be turning grey. All because the wrong Milliband became leader after Brown. Shows the influences behind the scenes in the Labour party. Far from transparent. At least the Tories air their washing in public.
  • I have been listening to these 7 clowns all day on the radio and the only one thing I have heard from them that I agree with is that British politics is totally broken .

Yes, too many people in Britain today there is nobody articulating their concerns, and tomorrow morning nothing would have changed. The last thing the UK needs right now is sit on the fence centre politics, we need a conviction political party and leader to make some extreme changes

A repeat of the SDP breakaway. Full circle. Nothing new. The uneasy Brown\Blair alliance of factions is finally over. The Labour party is divided far more than the Tories.

Last three New Labour shares of the vote in General Elections: 35%, 29% and 30%. Corbyn got 40%.

Somehow I don't imagine the 12.6 million people who voted Labour in 2017 will especially care that Chuka Umunna is no longer part of the PLP.

Hopefully there will be byelections soon. Will be surprised if Streatham returns Umunna to the House as an independent.
  • More political antics with the departure of 'the magnificent seven' ;), and now the split has started, there isn't much to stop it widening.

We shall certainly see which of the Blairites are willing to put their money where their mouths are.

I suspect the seven is about it, but they may surprise me.

    Hmm. I'm not so sure.
Chuka appeals to the no doubt large Black/Asian vote and the middle class white Brexit-hating vote too.

If we do end up with May somehow pushing through a Hard Brexit, there will be a few moderate Tories joining The Independent Group as well, I thought the setup today was very much leaving it open to becoming an umbrella for people from a variety of parties.
