'Good' news: my 'missing' October DD collection (higher winter amount) has finally been credited (4 Nov) on my Symbio online account, so hopefully that'll save me having to query one thing when my credit balance goes across to E.On in the next few weeks.
Just checked mine and it too has appeared. It must have happened in the past day or so as I checked either yesterday or the day before and it wasn't there then. No DD taken at the start of November so the Symbio billing operation must have been shut down - it is encouraging that the administrators understand Symbio's operating practices well enough to have worked out how to do it!

I notice that of the three companies Eon Next took on as SOLR on October 3rd, Enstroga seem to be furthest ahead in the assimilation process with Eon's welcome page now saying they have set up most accounts and asking customers to contact them if they have not yet heard from them. Igloo and Symbio are lagging behind, but they are both larger which might account for this.

Chatting to E.On earlier today, still no account available for use,the response was essentially when they get our account details from Symbio they'll begin! setting up our accounts with them,no timeframe incidentally just "soon".

Seemed unconcerned when asked what to do with meter readings they suggested sending them to Symbio.
My reply to that was no,not under any circumstances whatsoever,my dealings with Symbio are over, account is settled and at it's conclusion.

Probably unnecessarily concerned at this stage though I've the sinking feeling it's due to become a case of out of the frying pan,in to the fire.

Just wondering when they would contact ex-Symbio customers with final bills issued but not refunded. These accounts should be much easier to handle than solving "maths" for those active accounts. :)
  • I'd assume that you will be at the back of the queue, they're likely to be looking after their new customers before ex-customers.

As above, easier it might in theory be, but experience tells us that the SoLR’s first  priority will, rightly or wrongly, be to get their new customers set up fully. I’d suggest not banking on having your refund to buy Christmas dinner, but an Easter Sunday lunch might be an option…

Im a ex customer who actually managed to leave owing them money so I definitely will not be at the back of the queue

I don't know who you will owe that money to, whether this debt is carried over to Eon next or remains owed to Symbio's receivers.  I'm sure there's a statement somewhere that explains it.
But yes, I'm sure you'll have the highest possible priority!

Considering how my bill has continued to balloon again to something resembling the GDP of a small Island country after the last direct debit in October was added, I think there is a shock coming, particularly to those who have their meters replaced with a SMETS2 one, regardless of who the money is owed to.

ETA: I have a suspicion that every meter reading (with photo evidence) I have submitted is being disregarded and substituted for much higher estimates. Even though I have issues submitting readings, I have submitted them manually to the administrators explaining the situation and they're still being disregarded, bar the opening reading on the day of the meter replacement. I would say prepare for the worst, hope for the best.
  • Symbio were vastly over-estimating my energy use too.  But the only shock is going to be for Eon and Ofgem, when they realise that they're going to have to pay back vast amounts in refunds.

My actual current meter reading is still way lower than the reading I've already paid Symbio up to.  It will probably take another month or two before I get to the point where we're even.

Although Symbio issued a bill covering standing charges to 31 October, and estimated meter reading for 31 October, they are only entitled to payment up to 3 October. After that EON.Next are entitled to the payment. So in my calculations I use Symbio rates until 3 October. In my view no money is due to them for energy charges after that date. I had only been with them for 103 days, and made four DD payments. The sum of my DD payments exceeds the charges for the 103 days up to 3 October by £23.12. My meter reading of 3 November is 78 less than the Symbio 31 October estimate. So even people with substantial credit balances with Symbio will find they disappear quite quickly at EON.Next rates!
