It is us all who pay when supplier goes bust.

I don't mind you getting low cost electricity. What I do mind is people saying these are good.

They are not good and I will post this.

Explain how we all pay? Who are "these"? You're against free speech then?

Energy consumers face £172m bill for collapse of 11 suppliers. Except that, two months on, two more have failed, so it's now 13... :(

So about £6.50 a customer. Doesn't make for such a horrifying headline though does it? My last round of switches saved £450+, so £6.50's lost in the noise. Whilst it's good news if the regulator checks the financial robustness of potential suppliers, I wouldn't want to see competition removed altogether.

Hi. Was with them April, May and June.

Entered readings regular, more than 1 each month. Each bill said previous reading 0.00 and current reading 0.00.

The June bill comes, this was the final bill and it showed a reading previous and current with some random amount they were going to take.

I wrote back saying as I have been with them since April, I want a correct bill. They have not produced a correct bill for me. They never took the direct debit.

There is that okay for you?

Don't touch them with a barge pole. They are an insolvency waiting to happen and I get fed up reading here they are fine. They are not fine.
This is much easier to understand.

I do though agree with your last paragraph and decided not to go with them when they started appearing at the top of comparison charts.

I accept what others have said about being protected if they go bust, but to my mind all the grief people (like you) have had to endure is just not worth it.

Am thinking of changing my parents account to Symbio.

Does anyone know their current policy regarding changing tariff internally and if their billing issues of a few months ago have been sorted?

The Symbio Variable X5 seems cheapest for us, followed by the Symbio Monthly DD Fixed August 2019 V2 tariff. The others seem much more expensive.. this is due 7000Kwh. Not sure why others are finding the Mega Monthly Plan Aug 19 V4 better unless it's regional (this is in London)
  • I don't have a smart meter, it did ask me when I requested a quote and they still gave me a quote. There's been no mention of a smart meter on any of the paperwork.

There is no requirement to have one but I assume all providers need to attempt to get people converted so they'll probably pass your name on to installers.

If you look at the Symbio website FAQ's you'll find that they don't support smart meters yet. (but I've no doubt that they will have to in the future) - see here https://symbioenergy.co.uk/smart-meter-information/

[STRIKE]It must be regional because MMPA19 V4 is the cheapest for both me on 3200 by £4 and my daughter on 7000 by £37.[/STRIKE]

I'm totally confused with their tariffs

I also use around 7200kwh a year and I can choose between about six tariffs which will cost me anything between £907 and £1350 a year. (I'm not sure why anyone would choose the most expensive)

I've signed up to August 2019 v1 which is 12p/kwh, 15p/day but there's now a v2 which is about 11.6p/kwh but 18p/day. Both the v1 and v2 tariffs are a lot cheaper than the others on offer.

If I swapped to the v2 I'd save about £28 on kwh but pay 10.95 more on the standing charge. I'm not going to get upset about £18 but it does make you wonder what is going on.
