It must be regional because MMPA19 V4 is the cheapest for both me on 3200 by £4 and my daughter on 7000 by £37.

    Looking at Aberdeen:

Symbio Monthly DD Fixed August 2019 V2
Unit charge: 13.417 p per kWh
Standing charge: 18.500 p per day

Symbio Mega Monthly Plan August 19 v4
Unit charge: 13.382 p per kWh
Standing charge: 20.000 p per day

Which if I have done my maths correctly, would suggest Symbio Mega Monthly Plan August 19 v4 would only become cheaper if you use in excess of 15642kWh per year

I'm totally confused with their tariffs

I also use around 7200kwh a year and I can choose between about six tariffs which will cost me anything between £907 and £1350 a year. (I'm not sure why anyone would choose the most expensive)...

Some of the more expensive tariffs are offered as affiliate/referrals via third party/comparison sites.
So you may be able to earn possible cashback through them, or if you ask a comparison site to assist on the phone, some will only refer you to those tariffs that they can switch you to.
The other tariffs are only available direct from the supplier.

Other suppliers (e.g. Utility Point for one) have operated a similar range of tariffs in the past. :)
    (and maybe still do)

Indeed. Looks like they changed them on Friday; the second price hike in less than 2 weeks.

According to their latest tariff, it would cost me about 13.5% more than the one I agreed to less than 2 weeks ago with them

Glad I got my application in when I did

Costs, differences, etc will vary by supply region and your actual consumption , so it may not be bad news for everyone. Perhaps they have changed their pricing strategy to reduce demand. Previously they seemed to be cheapest for everyone; now there are at least 2 other suppliers cheaper than Symbio at least for me in my region (based on currently available tariffs)

According to the literature we received, come renewal (in a years time) they will send us details of another tariff as all suppliers do, but this one will be "the cheapest supply Tariff that no other electricity supplier can offer".
If it's not, we can contact them with details of the rival's tariff, and they promise to beat it under their "guaranteed discounted policy" (whatever that is).

We'll see ... if they are still around this time next year.

Anyone else receive this price promise? Or were we specially selected? :D

These are the exact word's from my documentation

"These prices will be fixed for a year, and on the anniversary date this will be reviewed against the prices in the market and the above discount of 5 -10 % for supply Tariff will be applied thus providing you with the cheapest supply Tariff that no other electricity supplier can offer.

If you come across any other quote in the market which is cheaper than the tariffs that we have provided please get back to us within 5 working days and we will beat those prices by applying our guaranteed discounted policy."

So I'll wait with keen anticipation to see what happens on 1st September 2020

Does anyone know their current policy regarding changing tariff internally if a cheaper one comes out?

Read back on this thread. I think someone posted that they didn't allow it when the poster asked Symbio about doing that.

Thanks, I had seen those but they were some months back so was wondering if anyone had any more recent experiences..

Well for me it's gotten cheaper by waiting! Before I had Mega v3 and Mega V4 available with standing charges of 21p & 20p (see a previous post). Having seen this post I went and checked and now they have the DD fixed v2 with 18.5p standing charge, the kWh is 0.06p or 0.04p more than the others respectively.

Shocked you get as much as 13.5%, just glad I'm in my region as the price difference between the tariffs, for my usage is around 1% - saving of under £10 than if I'd switched 2 weeks ago.

I don't think they are changing tariffs, just making different ones available e.g. Mega August 19 is different to DD fixed August, both having v1 v2, etc ,,,
