That's where you're going wrong then. Avoid using autoswitchers and do comparisons & switches yourself. They don't always find you the best deal as they'll only switch you to suppliers who take commission. (however in this instance, the tariff you're on is probably the cheapest). Plus using a 3rd party auto-switcher loses some of your control over your energy accounts etc. Just take 10-15 mins every 12 month to compare and switch yourself.Blondell said:I’ve tried to contact Look After My Bills (Tuesday) They acknowledged the email, but no actual reply yet.
Weirdly that invoice doesn't show any kWh consumption, just the amount they're charging you. Have you provided them with any readings since you were switched over or received any other information regarding estimated usage/readings from Symbio?0 -
Avoid using any such similar companys at any point in future, tbh.Blondell said:I’ve tried to contact Look After My Bills (Tuesday) They acknowledged the email, but no actual reply yet.
Where/what are the consumption amounts for this bill?.
If you post your bill in full with personal detail removed someone will work out whats wrong,at a guess as previously mentioned an extra 0 was added by Look After My Bills or by yourself, althought as you didnt know what EAC was thats unlikely to be your doing.
When was this done and are you still within a cooling off period?,14 days I think.0 -
First things first. Leave look after my bills. They are not a good company to deal with. They will probably wash their hands of this and say the switch has happened you're on your own. They don't always transfer you to the best company, and usually transfer to the one they get a commission from. They dont do anything special, and you could do it better in 5 minutes.Blondell said:I’ve tried to contact Look After My Bills (Tuesday) They acknowledged the email, but no actual reply yet.
The invoice you've copied and pasted said it is invoice 3. How long have you been with symbio?
First thing to check is the EAC - this is the estimated annual consumption in kwh. This will be on the "your tariff details" document that you will have been emailed when you joined, and is also on all the bills (not the website, but the bills that symbio email you, in pdf)
It is almost guaranteed that your EAC is massively incorrect. Either Look after my bills gave them your gas consumptions or symbio have just made a number up.
Get you last bill from your previous supplier and note what the EAC is on that. Then email and call symbio and tell them that your EAC is INCORRECT, and update them with the correct figure. Then tell them that you have been massively overcharged for the first payment.
Then your options are to demand a refund of part of that payment (this is what i'd do and did, as i was charged 250 for a first payment as my EAC was wildly incorrect) or you can leave that payment and tell them not to take any payments from you until your account is in debit again (so basically next payment after 6-7 months)
You have to be persistent with them, their customer services arent the best. Ensure you get the EAC updated and then demand the bill is recalculated and demand a refund of the majority of the payment. (if that doesnt work you could always tell your bank to reverse the direct debit)
Good luck.0 -
If thats her first bill then it wont include any meter readings, but just their funky "number of units they think you'll use for the following month" value.UnclaimedEnergy said:

Then in the second bill they will include the opening reading, her submitted reading for the end of the month (if given) and then work out the difference, refund the discrepancy on the bill, then add the next months "estimated use"......however if you dont break the EAC cycle then all the estimates will be vastly inaccurate.0 -
Sorry but - I find it incredible that people are still switching to this company! Are they out of their Vulcan minds?? Don't they read the reviews before switching. This company is desperate!! They have nothing to lose. They cannot stoop lower. They really take the biscuit!spot1034 said:

Full marks to you guys trying to help innocent bystanders through the mire - but in my experience nothing works! You just have to cancel, ignore the threats and try to claw back via Ofgem (sleeping-on-watch) and Ombudsman Services.
But be prepared to do some work and have a long wait. To anyone considering signing up - R...U...N!I'd rather be a disappointed optimist than a self-satisfied pessimist0 -
So Symbio's recent EAC increase is to fund kickbacks to L.A.M.B. ??0

More likely it'll be spent buying rainbow flags,t-shirts,and tickets for the first appropriate bandwagon that rolls by.Tallerdave said:So Symbio's recent EAC increase is to fund kickbacks to L.A.M.B. ??0 -
Thanks for all your help you guys. I’ve spoken to someone at Symbio who sounded bored and disinterested. He said he could make the monthly charge £347 - just like that! I told him that still sounded a lot. He advised me to cancel my direct debit with them and find another supplier. I got straight onto my bank and did just that.
The reason I initially went through look after my bills was the “recommendation” on the MSE website. How wrong could I have been?0 -
Can you provide a link to this recommendation?Blondell said:Thanks for all your help you guys. I’ve spoken to someone at Symbio who sounded bored and disinterested.
