  • I have just left Symbio as a customer
Due to the poor customer service and non answering a complaint.
I have also been chasing up the refund of a credit as it has not been refunded as promised.
Today when I called them I was told that all refunds are on hold as they have a problem with their bank!!!
So have now turned to ofgem for help.

I don't consider Symbio to be any worse than the clowns at Utility Point.

Ofgem don't deal with individual complaints.  You'd need to submit a formal complaint to Symbio and obtain a deadlock letter (or wait eight weeks) and then go to the Ombudsman.

I read a lot more of this thread than that and decided to take the plunge! Some of what I read amused me, and I like a challenge. However, I have to say that having led a charmed life with energy companies for many years now, that experience is continuing with Symbio and so far I've had no trouble whatsoever. :D
I have been with them for a while, and yes, their calculations are ridiculous, but they are cheap. If they go pop I will deal with it, just like the other x times I have had to.

I once had the misfortune to be with an outfit called Atlantic Energy (prior to their acquisition from insolvency by SSE) who took incompetency to another level. Faint praise it maybe, but Symbio are actually not too bad in my experience (ymmv).

I have been with Symbio for two years now, they have been unbeatable on price. A few months ago I did have an issue with an incorrect meter reading which had to be corrected, this took them two weeks which was slow but at least it was done and new bill issued. The billing system is rather over complex but does work out, actual meter readings each month are essential. Just recently renewed for the second time.
    I would give them 6/10

I've had to open an ombudsman case as they're refusing to honour their own complaint resolution...
We agreed they owed me £30 compensation for a late final bill, their customer services team agree this should have already been applied to my account, and I owe them £0 - but their credit control team is still threatening to take me to court as they say I owe them £30. Despite including the complaint reference, and confirmation emails from customer services, their credit control team is still trying to bully me into a payment their customer services team says I don't need to make.

When things go wrong at Symbio, they go *incredibly* wrong. Be careful.
  • Seems the pricing has gone up with Symbio recently, Reef is almost the same price, any suggestions anyone? South East Variable rate ends next month, wish I fixed in at 9.9p cost previously!

The prices have just gone up in general really and symbio is no exception. No way we're gonna get anywhere near 10p at the moment! Looks that 13-14p is the current sweet spot nationally.

Same here that 9.9p looked a cracking deal
  •  They've just emailed to terminate my variable rate. They don't understand what a variable rate is, do they?! They prefer to create a new rate than actually vary the one I'm on!
