You are just awesome
I think Mad would describe me better!
And I did have help on the second day.
But I left DS to it and hibernated yesterday.
I still haven't had the courage to do the Christmas tree. I can just see chaos with the soon to be 2 year old. So I keep delaying it.
The house is too small really, but I will have to put the effort in this week.
I think I have finished my Christmas shopping for gifts now. My next thing is to menu plan again so I don't waste money buying things we really don't need!
I have been given two tubs of Christmas sweets so I don't need to buy any of them. We always have crisps and perhaps some popping corn would actually do us.
I have those cans of non alcoholic lager from Aldi when it was on offer, and so that's me sorted. The kids drink apple and black currant so that and milk is easy enough.
I am not expecting guests so I don't need to stock pile drinks.
Or anything else for that matter.
My who gives a c.r.a.p toilet rolls, kitchen roll and tissues have been delivered.
My Smol washing liquid comes in the post so no big boxes or anything to get there either.

Sounds like you are way ahead of me, although to be honest I will be at my daughter's for Xmas day so not too much to worry about. I used to host Xmas for the whole family and enjoyed doing so although it was tiring - especially when I was working. However after the various family problems of the last few years youngest and I decided we were going to treat it as "just another day" and have drastically reduced our food intake and pretty much given up on alcohol. I do sometimes have a glass of wine if I am visiting someone and get offered but often just have tonic water. To be honest we both enjoy the time together just as much and although I do buy presents for various people it has reduced the stress - not just the shopping and cooking, but also the feeling of having to be "jolly" when sometimes we haven't felt it.. I think your grandchildren would just love playing games or going for a walk with a relaxed granny etc. rather than having lots of "stuff" which will probably be ignored after Boxing Day.
Whatever you do I wish you and yours all the best and hope you see some light in 2020.0 -
Ss, well done on getting through a very busy week!
I agree with 'dreaming' that the little ones (possibly big ones too) would appreciate some relaxed time with you rather than 'stuff'.
We have very few people to buy for these days (by 'we' I mean 'I' of course as OH buys mine and that is all) so that makes thing easier. As does the fact that we are going away for Christmas this year so I don't need to get any of the usual food and 'treats' inIt's not difficult!

Biggest has D and V bout today, so I detoured and collected her two from school on our way to contact for my lot. The other Granny had the baby.
I have bought Dgd a journal about life and attitudes etc, and I gave it to her today as we were talking about self esteem etc today. After a while she came and asked me to go through it so we have been sitting in my bedroom and reading the first few pages together.
She has gone off to do the first task in it.
Me I am about to go to sleep. I may be needed again tomorrow if Biggest is still I'll.
I am loving the space I created in the corner of my bedroom for sitting and reading etc.
Very relaxing.
Tomorrow is another day, I am going to try to sleep now.
Night everyone xWhen I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Entertaining the smallest child with Paw Patrol on my google gadget in my bedroom, while having a cuppa made with my teasmade so I don't have to wake up the rest of the house.
Although now it is after 7 so it won't be much longer before I wake up Dgd and the rest of the family for the school day.
I didn't hear the baby during the night, but I can see two bottles in the room so Dad must have been in.
I woke a few times but that was me not anyone waking me.
Trying to find my mojo is still a struggle.
I sat with my lamp on last night as I knew it would be difficult to do it in the morning with small children around. I can't do it then as they could damage their eyes if they look directly at the lamp.
It's not the best time for me, but it is better than not at all.
DS is at work at 5pm tonight. So theoretically I can get outside and work and leave him to it, but if yesterday has anything to go by nothing will really get done. He still hasn't been in the loft for the decorations for me. I am disappointed with his lack lustre, but wondering if it is depression rather than just laziness. Still annoying me though.
Right tea finished. Time to wake the school children.
Have a great day people.
I am hoping that tonight I can report a successful one. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

I am not sure if DS really has depression or is slipping back its sometimes very easy to put a label on behaviours to make it acceptable he needs to pull his weight his life is easy he has a job he goes larping a girlfriend ,he has a permanent child minder on site that is free of charge to him he has a roof over his head and food to eat he has everything going for him so much more than most working single parents yet he cannot do one small simple task I really cannot understand how you allow him to continue to treat you like thisKeeping both feet on solid ground0
