5.49am a message pings on my phone, a customer wanting a dress altered by 13th. I have replied that unfortunately I am at capacity and have suggested other Seamstresses. The customer is not a name I recognise so I am not going to shuffle my time around to suit their emergency.
I don't like turning people away but at the moment with my mojo gone, I need to stop taking in work until I am sorted out.
I know that my daughters children are not my responsibility but I also want to be able to support the rest of the family and I want to be Granny and see the others not just the ones I am responsible for. We have got the routine at home sorted now and it is a permanent day off for DS so he can do his own children. If I seem to be complaining about it, I don't mean to. I am fine about helping. The opportunity that Biggest has had to train, get her exams and be able to teach, has been hard work and her hubby has the children while she works at the weekends. Unfortunately dance classes are weekends and after school for all kids. I am fine about helping, I just have to be organised.
It is getting easier now we don't have so many assessments to deal with.
The new job for her hubby is much less hours and less travelling so my input is not needed so much.
Mum is slowly improving and I am back to calling her, and only going over a few times a week and not every day. That also helps with fuel bills.
My brother is coming over from France next week and so I will get some help with Mum on some of the days for a couple of weeks before he returns home.
Small children are breakfasted, and I am trying to keep them quiet for another half hour so Daddy can sleep.
I will wake Dgd at 7.30.
I plan to be good to myself and only do the hem on the wedding dress today. It is quite a big job and fiddly as I have to remove lace that has been sewn on one of the layers and to shorten the dress it needs to come off the dress shortened and then all sewn back on again. Time consuming. Anything else can wait.
Especially this weeks moth hole jumpers!
I did not get to sit with my lamp, as children woke at about the same time as my crack of sparrow message. So I will do that after the school run, and before I do the dress.
I really need to find my old business planner and start to use it again to keep me focused and on track. In the shop I used it everyday and I had a visual prompt as I had a huge white board we updated every few days.
I need to do something similar in the cabin.
Right time to gather up the clothes etc for the children.
Onwards no allowing the black dog a foot in the door today. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Don't want to take over the thread but thought I would update on the latest regarding my niece. It appears that brother and sister in law have taken on board all the advice (and my nagging to get their bottoms into gear), taken all the support offered, jumped through all the hoops required and as things are much improved and they are now meeting expectations, my niece is no longer deemed to be in a dangerous situation.
It's hoped that in the next few days when the final few bits have their i's dotted and t's crossed that their case with social services will be closed (well as much as they ever close them that is....)
Much relief all around.

I managed to do 90% of the wedding dress. I have pinned the lace back in place and I will sew it after I have done a fitting tomorrow. I have successfully turned away about 3 or 4 other jobs to the other Seamstress in town.
I have did have a lady drop by ( not booked) who brought some things in the other day, and she added something to her list. But other than that I haven't taken in anything else.
It took me all day to do the wedding dress though.
Dgd has a school Fete on this evening so she's gone off out and is meeting up with another girl from school. I am hoping that she's finally integrating with her peers.
DS had an early start today, and will be late back tonight. So I am on bedtime routine this evening.
Then I am planning on putting my feet up and reading. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
I hope you got that 'feet up time' Ss.
Today is the first of the choir Christmas gigs, we are due to do 2 sets between 11.00 and 1.00. I will see if I have any energy left after that as I have been a bit unwell this week. It's not difficult!

Hope the weather is good to you if your out side Carolling.
I have to shorten the dress another inch, so I am glad I didn't put the lace back on.
The dress is Tomorrow's priority.
Today is housework day, shopping, washing etc
Although I keep stopping for a cup of tea between jobs.
The washing up, the kitchen and the cooker etc have all been done. As well as tent building in the front room.
Dgd is poorly again. She's had another upset tummy and been sick this morning. She also has a massive bruise on her right knee from landing hard on it on Friday at the school fete.
DS is working this weekend during the day and well into the night. At least he is earning at the moment.
Mum is improving and we managed the shower and hair wash yesterday without any panic attacks. Although she did loose her breath and needed her ventoline.
My brother and his partner are driving over from France today. We will see them on Tuesday, or at least my brother. His partner often goes to see her side of the family.
Time to finish this cup of tea and get on to the next job. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
I actually managed to do the jobs I wanted to do today. Although I spent £47 on the food budget rather than the £35 I was aiming for, but in my defence I did by a 3 bird roast to add to the freezer for Christmas and a pack of non alcoholic beers for putting away. So I am quite happy with that.
I also collected 4 hampers made for some of my grandchildren. Others still to be finished. I have a lot of Christmas sorted now.
We will get there.
Another lot of reports were delivered yesterday, another 60 plus pages so I have read them through briefly. I will aim to re read and highlight the glaring faults ( yet another lot!) DS is my youngest, they say he is the second child. Twins are 4 years older than him??
If they actually read my chronology they would know that. If they listened to me they would know that.
I am sick of all the inaccuracies.
Time to get my Solicitor in on this, it is rediculous and the courts are going to go by these people's recommendations.
There really is no excuse for inaccurate information. Wrong dates, wrong names, incorrect spelling of names. It is a laughing matter, if it wasn't so serious. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
DS has gone to see his Solicitor with the inaccurate reports.
Dgd has to stay off school because of the sickness bug.
I went out to the cabin, but it is just too cold with the frost, so I have put two fan heaters on to try and take the chill off.
I may need to insulate it for next winter. I don't expect to be out there that much this winter with the current circumstances.
I have a slightly dodgy tummy myself, so perhaps it's a bug rather than something Dgd ate, as we haven't had the same meals this weekend.
Washing machine is on once more, the bathroom is currently looking like a laundry with stuff hanging up to dry over the bath etc. I am waiting for Dgds Christmas present to be delivered, I have no idea where I am going to hide all the presents that I am amassing, especially the ones that are ore wrapped in cellophane with bows etc. No way to stack them.
Cup of tea and then back out to see if the room is warm enough to work in.When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
The weather certainly has turned colder. Even down here, in the balmy south, I had to de-ice the car before aquagym this morning. It was warmer (9C) and dry when we were singing on Saturday, so not too bad.
Ss, I'm sorry that you and Gd both have upset tums, it is just one more thing you could do without! Glad to hear that your mum is improving steadily though. It's not difficult!

I am tired today. I did some sewing but didn't finish the dress before I had to go to take Mum to her hospital appointment. The hospital was running late by an hour so I had to cancel my 5.15 appointment and warn DS he was highly likely to be late. Luckily he warned them as soon as I told him, although it was only 10 minutes by then.
I am going to put my feet up now, although small people are not yet asleep. I will have to go up and read the riot act again. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0
