Another early start with small people waking up just after 6am. Hoed would stay in the room playing quietly but no such luck. Trying to keep them fairly quiet as Dad was working last night. Washed up, made tea, bins out.
Now to drink the tea hopefully while still hot.
Dgd has cookery at school today. Used loosely, it's more assembling items on a plate except perhaps adding boiling water to couscous.
DS collected some slabs that were going free on Facebook yesterday, and is going to go back and get some more for me today. We will have a larger patio area out the back one way or another. I have to improve the garden asap for the next inspection. Hopefully I will get a dry day soon to help me.
DS burns are not good. He did get them dressed at the doctors, the other day, and has redressed them since. I have a small cut on my finger that hurts so I can only imagine the pain he is in. But he is still working etc.
Today is payday, so to speak, so the savings it's all get topped up automatically now. I have only one credit card bill now, but it's quite high, so that is where I will be chipping away at going forward.
Cleared the other two used this month.
Time to focus on today. 9.15 first customer. Several through the morning. I seem to be getting more work not less. Apparently the other Seamstress in town is not taking on anymore new customers. Hence sending them to me.
I may have to adopt the same idea but I don't like turning people away. I think this week past 10 days has seen more new customers than old ones, and although it is a boost to the old ego when they say they are glad they found me, and they will be back, I am still struggling to find my mojo.
I am not really enjoying the work. But I am still plodding. Perhaps it will find itself in doing the normal.
Today is split childcare day. Biggest's needs me today, and apparently more next week as hubby is away with his new job all week and she still needs to teach.
Time to get Dgd up, ( high light of my day, not!), and give these monsters breakfast.
Hope everyone has a good day.

  • Ss I know you don't like to turn people away so make it work for you, raise your prices a bit more and increase the lead time you give to turnaround, if you get the work done quicker great & if work slows you can always bring prices back down again but make bay while the sun shines x

I hope DSs hand improves but please get him to go back to the Drs if it isnt
    - Mortgage: 1st one down, 2nd also busted

I have zero mojo today. I have managed to do the fittings, and do the bodice work on the wedding dress, but the hem needs doing, and I was waiting for some clear elastic to arrive.
I came in at 1.15 for a cuppa and lunch, and I haven't moved since.
Although I have read emails and ordered Dgd a laptop in the sale, for school/Christmas.
Just had to bite the bullet and get it as mine has died a death. ( Along with my mojo).
I have the children to look after for Biggest this afternoon. I could easily just go to sleep. I will need a session with my lamp as I have missed it the last few days.
Right I will go and do that now!

Ss, I wonder if the missing mojo and no lamp sessions are linked? It would be good if they were because you would have an easy 'fix'. I laughed when we were in the Canaries and saw restaurant menus featuring 'mojo'. Apparently it is a spicy sauce!
    It's not difficult!

Don't want to take over the thread but thought I would update on the latest regarding my niece. It appears that brother and sister in law have taken on board all the advice (and my nagging to get their bottoms into gear), taken all the support offered, jumped through all the hoops required and as things are much improved and they are now meeting expectations, my niece is no longer deemed to be in a dangerous situation.

It's hoped that in the next few days when the final few bits have their i's dotted and t's crossed that their case with social services will be closed (well as much as they ever close them that is....)

    Much relief all around.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Because other Granny has Lukemia and not able to do as much as she would like. She does Tuesday and I do Wednesday.

    That's great news.
I was just thinking about all the paperwork I have been wading through and it dawned on me that all the negativity is based on when the family were together and nothing is noted about all the positive changes that have occurred in the interim.
A fact that we must bring up with DS Solicitor.

Mojo is very much down to the weather. When the sun is shining I am active.
When the darkness is here like today I really don't want to do anything.
I have struggled today with sewing dispute all the lights on in the cabin. I will have another session with the lamp this evening and tomorrow I am going to set my alarm so I hopefully will have time in front of the lamp before the kids wake.

I have only sewn for two hours today.
We have the school run and the opticians this afternoon.

Neither you or other granny are responsible for those children, their parents are.

They are quite capable of fitting their work hours around looking after their own kids; as you have to yourself with your three dependent (grand) children whose parents aren't primarily responsible for them.
