    I'll second that!

    I give up.
I managed to shorten one pair of trousers!
But I did have a collection, a drop in, and went to return Molly's things I had been working on. We had a cuppa and a natter. Then I came home to sew. But forgot that I had to go to contact today and needed to prep the dinner and put it in the thermal bag so it would be ready as soon as we got home, and early enough for DS to eat before he went to work.
I am still listening to one of the children countering away in the bedroom and have had several trips to get him back in the bed.
My evening appointment recently cancelled as was running late, so I can put my feet up and relax soon.

We are awake early. A message pinging in to the business phone woke me at 6am. Five minutes later the wee one woke, so I have brought him into my room to stop him from waking up the rest of the household. DS didn't get home until 1.15am so he will be tired. Mind you stupid me got into watching NCIS and didn't go to bed until 12.10am so I will be tired later.
    My own fault though.

I managed to do a few sewing jobs amongst the day. One large job of altering a dress that had to have the sleeves removed, shoulders lifted, side seams taken in, sleeves put back, darts and pockets sewn down. So it took a while. A lot of new work in, and here was I saying I am going to stop.
    Don't like turning people away.
I also shortened a coats sleeves and started another before the school run to collect Dgd.
After that I read between cooking and children.
I had a call from the powers that Be to say that they had finished assessment and that I passed. Then I reminded him that I wanted kinship not SGO if possible and that means different hoops to jump through apparently.
Today I am going to try to keep on sewing. Munster dress and get the school run done.

I wish I could tell you about the start to this morning , but I am not allowed. Let's just say it's been very challenging already!
Anyone else retreat to the bathroom with a cup of tea and regroup their thoughts? Or is it just me.

    And breathe!
Dgd tripped over her foot again yesterday, and I had to take paracetamol to the school. . And change my schedule somewhat to collect her at home time.
I had a good day sewing and collections and drop off.
Unfortunately DS had an accident while clearing up some wood etc in his burner and burned his hands. Not good.

I managed to still get to Mums, change the hall bulb as her landing lights blew, and get to Biggest to babysit until 6pm when hubby came home from his new job.
At home we have had to treat everyone for headlice again.
I forgot the delights of small children and the beasties.
So this morning it's hairwashes all round.
    I better get moving.

Ss, I'm sorry that the start to your day has been 'trying' and hope that things settle down now. I'm also sorry that DS had burned his hands, I do hope he is not in a lot of pain.

Some days just don't go to plan.
Some days the inadequacy of people really is amazing.
I have had a message from the school saying DGd is not in school. Panicking I ring the school as I know she left for school at 8.30.
After a while it turns out, oh yes she is in school. !!
My blood pressure doesn't need that!
Two idiots parked across my driveway so I couldn't get anywhere near my house. I took their number plates down and went and bellowed in the Doctors waiting room for the drivers to move their cars. One man told me to be quiet and I said no I will not be quiet I cannot get onto my own drive. I am afraid I shouted at him that he and the other driver should not be blocking my drive, and when he told me to just park somewhere else, I said No, that's why I paid a lot of money for a drive!
    Blood pressure valve!!!
    Argh people.
I despair at the mentality of people at times, but unfortunately I am also despairing that I lost my temper. Making me as idiotic as the rest of them.

Spoken to Mum, she had a call with her doctor, and had to point out that one of the tablets that the hospital tried to get her on has been Banned in Europe, and here and he agreed. So howcome the hospital is still prescribing it? He has told her there is a complaint s department. But I don't think I have the energy to chase anything else at the moment.
Now I need to get back to work and do some unpicking. I have brought it into the house as it's still quite cold in the Cabin/shed/whatever it is !

  • It's a week since I posted from the land of the sleepless It took a few more days to get the sleep pattern sorted.

Catching up on your posts in one go Ss really shows the pressure you are under however much you plan. I'm glad Tw2 has finally received the long awaited contact. It always seems unfair there isn't a set timescale but as it's voluntary it's good to hear the poor girl has had an update.

Hope ds hasn't done too much damage to his hands.

Under the circumstances you've done well to manage to do some work. At least the assessments are over. I'm sure you'll keep insisting on Kinship and hope they'll grant it.

Don't be critical of yourself losing your temper with the car owners. It's a hefty cost for a dropped kerb and you had a long wait for it to happen. It is a safety valve you were dealing with rude people who couldn't give a monkeys about anyone but themselves and their wants. Better out than in eh?

Best thing for mums med issue is to contact the secretary of the consultant who prescribed it. I've found they do pass on concerns re meds and usually another med can be prescribed. You can generally find the secretarys contact no on hospital paperwork or via a google search.

Don't know what you're using for the headlice. As a recepion teacher it was a real problem. The day my Doctor confirmed I was expecting dd2 she confirmed dd1 had headlice. I initially used the prescribed treatment but wasn't happy with the chemicals . Someone suggested a thick leave in conditioner from Avon and I combed it through everyones hair nightly and combed through the next morning .No problems after that. I can't remember the name and it was 40 years ago but I know many people still do a similar thing.

One thing I keep thinking is Biggest and the baby sitting. Is there a way that can change? I know you like to help your family but that time could be sewing time for you and some funds in the bank. Maybe even some rest.

Years ago I would retreat to the bathroom with a book when dd2 was winding up the others. It was the only room with a lock so I'd sit there knowing her older sister would sort her out and me not being in the audience would hasten that.

hb2 I'm glad you enjoyed the Carpenters tribute. Karen had the voice of an angel and left the world far too soon. I haven't been able to listen to " Goodbye to Love" since. Such a cry for help from someone with fame and fortune. My youngest spent time as an inpatient as I watched her waste away. Thankfully the demons have gone and I count us lucky for that.

I remember watching Freddie Mercury singing " The Days of Our lives" and realising it was his final goodbye with a cheeky wink and a kiss. There are so many songs.Watching Alfie Boe singing " Bring him home" at George Bests funeral was hard. Memories of the Boy from Belfast coming to Old Trafford aged 15 with a twinkle in his eye and dimples in his cheeks came flooding back. hearing the lines " He is only a boy" reminded me he was only a boy who ended up with the world at his feet and threw it all away.

We got 17 of dds 19 meds last Friday. The 2 short were only a cream and a lotion and she has some of those still. We went to town yesterday and they had the 2 missing ones ready for her so not as stressful as the last lot.

Hope everyone's plodding on and you're managing beanie.
