Good news about your mum. Little steps as you say. I've been reminded of The Spanish Inquisition, think it was Monty Python. lets hope things are near the end.

    Sleep tight
    pollyx

    Morning Pollyanna,
I didn't do too badly on the sleep side. Baby woke around 2am and then 6am.
DS has driven south after work last night to go to a funeral. So I am on full duty tomorrow and tomorrow.
My hormones patches have been sourced, and my happy pills are slightly different brand but I have them now for the next 4 weeks anyway.
All the questions do feel very much like the Spanish Inquisition!
Thankfully All this Hypnosis meditation before sleeping has really started to change my ability to keep calm and starting to be able to cope much better.
I realised a while ago that I am going to have to let my business slow down to a practical halt for now, and I am beginning to field work away a bit, although I wish I could still work more, the fact is obvious that for now I can only take on the odd jobs.
Especially while Mum is still not very brilliant.
I still miss sewing though, but by the evening I am too tired or too relaxed to go outside and half way down the garden to start sewing, certainly in this dark and cold weather.
Saying all that there are a couple of things that I must try to do when small person is asleep today, so I don't let anyone down, and I have a few people dropping off simple jobs to be done. So Friday is ear marked as my sewing day if the powers that be don't throw another spanner in the works and then a few hours Saturday when DS is back.

Let's be positive and believe everything will go to plan.

Hope everyone else is safe, and have a good day as well.
Thinking of you all, helps me remember that I am not alone with my problems and that we all are trying to climb mountains of issues.
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

Ss, I'm glad that your mum is a little better, small steps are better than nothing.

When climbing mountains, it is easy to see how far there still is to go and feel overwhelmed. Sometimes it helps to look back and give yourself credit for how far you have already come!

I know that you kitted out your cabin for a reason but, as it is not practical/possible to use it at the moment, is there any way you can have enough kit in the house for the small jobs you might enjoy doing?

Polly, I hope you manage to get your d's meds today without any more hassle. Poor girl, my son used to get a lot of ear infections when he was small and I wouldn't wish them on anyone, especially someone who is already ill :( Would you mind telling me that the 'other thread' is that you mentioned? It sounds very useful!

We have the first half of our carpet fitting today so have cleared out both bedrooms and the contents are mostly in the lounge. The spare bed has a lot of storage space underneath and that was stuffed full. I must go through it all, to see if there is anything that can be got rid of,rather than just putting it back. Little cat, who lives in our bedroom, is currently in her crate in the lounge and not too happy about it. Note to self - make sure I put her food far enough into crate so that big, greedy cat can't get his paw through and steal it!
    It's not difficult!
'Wander' - to walk or move in a leisurely manner.
    'Wonder' - to feel curious.

I decided to walk with the buggy to school to collect this afternoon, chilly wind but it was pleasant enough to do. It's been a while since I walked to school, I started walking in September but with everything going on I had reverted to using the car on my days. I was feeling very tired before I got outside so it's given me a boost and a few gulps of fresh air.
Then Dgd called needing picking up so I had to get the kids in the car after all and go get her as we are having problems with bigger children intimidating her. ( again)
So reported it to school this morning and looks like I will be reporting it again tomorrow!
I am not sure how I am going to do the work needed for tomorrow collection as I didn't get the peace to do anything earlier.

My friend is coming over for a chat after the children are in bed, she's got a lot going on and needs a little support.
Makes a change from my needing her ear.

Pizza for tea as it's the favourite of the ankle biters.
    And easy for me! Bonus.

  • Just catching up. By phoning round the pharmacies I found one with the AB in stock so nipped out for that . Dd took the recommended 2 capsules this morning and will then be 1 a day for the next 6 days. The sheer relief of having the help lifted her mood a lot. She's been stuck indoors too long so I managed to persuade her into a little trip to the next village. I've never been one for coffee shops but in the last couple of years we've been calling into Costa for a hot drink between the Drs appts and the meds collection. She loves all the winter drinks. Until a few weeks ago they were doing a lovely spicy cinnamon hot chocolate which I became addicted to. They've replaced that with a gingerbread hot chocolate with a tiny gingerbread man biscuit. I always give her my biscuit as I can't bear to eat a gingebread man however small it seems a bit brutal. I had my hot chocolate in the village and she had a winter tea plus my biscuit. The fresh air seems to have helped her and she was well muffled up with a warm winter hat. She should sleep at last tonight.

I'm glad you got the hormone patches Ss. I hope you soon settle on the new happy pills. Having been on another type meaans your body should soon adapt to them.

Re taking on odd jobs I agree it's a good idea. Recently you spoke of needing to help people and make them feel good. If you can find a balance between that and being mindful of your needs it should be easier to keep things ticking over at a less stressful level.

When it comes to throwing a spanner in the works I would think you should be able to point out that you have commitments and it isn't always possible to change arrangements and plans.

I'm sorry to read about the bullying but well done on reporting it to the school. After all the times you've had to put them in the picture there should be action on their behalf to sort the situation out. I've posted here about having to take dd out of formal education at 13. The bullying she suffered caused long lasting damage. It was easy as a teacher to do that and the EU stepped in later to supplement the teacher with an amazing home tutor. With your commitments that isn't an option for you but I'm wondering if the school board of trustees could investigate the matter. Dds school was in total denial although I witnessed many incidents of bullying both with my dd and other pupils.. I ended up writing a formal withdrawal letter to out local education dept and they were very supportive. The home ed officer sought the EU funding when local education couldn't provide suitable help. It's worth looking online for a way to keep dgd in school with her needs being met and no more bullying.

  • hb2 Your post about little cat did make me laugh.I've always been a real cat lady. DD and her boyfriend share 2 rescue cats one a ginger tabby male who's daft as a brush and his tiny black and white sister who's utterly toxic when she gets in a mood. Once the weather turns she spends her days glaring at us and grabbing a passing leg because of course it's our fauls she can't sunbathe and chase butterflies on sunny days. She has a long memory and weeks later can pay us back for some perceived long forgotten slight. She broods !

Dd is a long time fan of Terry Pratchett and called the little one Magrat after Magrat Garlick who wasn't too good at being a witch but became a rich lady with a fondness for jewellry and shiny pretty things. Our Magrat has a similar fondness and after some imagined slight will take posession of pretty shiny things and hide them in the strangest places. I'm still interrogating her re the fate of my sunglasses which disappeared off the coffee table in September. She was always fascinated by them and goes for things she knows are important to the enemy. It took me weeks of trawling the shops to find a pair that fitted properly so I'm not amused.

I agree with your advice on climbing a mountain. It's seems a long time ago but I used to climb mountains , run along the beach and go for long walks. You soon learn to look behind you partway up a mountain and when you see how far you've come it spurs you on to carry on upwards.

When we decided a few years ago to challenge a wrong diagnosis damaging mental and physical health decisions looking back spurred us on. it was exhausting and full on but so worth it as it changed everything for the better for dd. Looking back now I regret none of it.

If you click on my Username and look at my threads you'll see the Poor Health thread part 2. There are just a few posts on there but there is a link to the original thread too. That was full of lovely people with lots of ideas , hints and support for the difficulties chronic ill health can bring.

Ariarnias duvet trick is post 4 0n the old thread and Larumbelle post 9 is someone I'll always remember. She'd had a tough life and found the positives where she could and her posts made many of us stop and think. She was at the mercy of various social workers. One of them wanted her to have a proper cooker rather than various table top appliances with timers which were perfect for her needs. She was afraid to speak out but with gentle persuasion she explained how a normal cooker could mean burning food or worse if she fell asleep while cooking a meal. She found her voice and became confident about thinking for herself.

In the end she was inspiring us all. She taught me about bullet points as she often had them in her posts. When I did the bullet point posts here for Ss Larumbelle was in my head.
