Ss I think it would be worth getting a Drs appt for your mum just to check there isn't a uti or something else going on. I do think since losing her friend and then the hospital admission her confidence has taken a knock although she knows she can call on you or Biggest.
When I had flu followed by pneumonia and pleurisy and dd was similary ill I remember feeling very weak and vulnerable which is alien to me Twice I lost my footing going out to get some things from the large chest freezer in the garage. For a while I kept my mobile in my pocket as I was almost missing a step going downstairs..So the phone was a way of getting help if needed.
The panic attack is a worry we all do it at times and it does sound as though she's feeling isolated and vulnerable although she has you all at the end of the phone if needed.
The long dark nights don't help either. Once the Dr has checked she is ok physically it may be worth looking around to see if there are any local groups that may interest her and pass some of the hours she's on her own. It's easy to overthink things when alone and some company with other like minded people may help. She can prebook a taxi to and from things using some of her savings.
I'm glad you're pacing it means you still get some things done but don't overdo things.
hb2 I can block most things on the phone the scammers just keep generating new numbers though. The local hospitals changed from the hospital landline no to number withheld so if there's a message left I have to listen to check it isn't a change of appt or something.
Thank you for all the support here re dds meds. To quote my beloved Ole Gunnar Solskjaer " We go again on Monday" That will make no sense to those who aren't a football fan :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

An evening watching tv, DS brought back a takeaway after his shift, so I am pretty full. Time for bed now. My brother rang to update me on his opinion on Mum after he had spoken to her this evening.
I will go in the morning when I go to shop at Aldi for fruit and pain Eu. Chocolat for her.
I will do the doctor on Monday when I get the seat for the stairlift changed.
I need to get my own prescription Monday as well.
Hope everyone is warm and dry the weather is grim tonightWhen I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Ss, is it time to start getting some outside support in place for your mum? A fall/panic alarm comes to mind immediately (although, if the responders are only going to ring you it might just be complicating things!), maybe someone going in once a day to supervise showering. Something to give her some extra confidence and take a bit of the work away from you! It's not difficult!

I have mentioned that to Mum and last night to my brother when he rang me back.
Tomorrow morning I will be there to supervise the chair being changed and I am going to call the doctor and ask for the OT to call(again). I did ask when she came out of the hospital.
She has a mobile phone with an alarm that rings me, Biggest and My brother for emergency. Her walking stick has an alarm that her neighbour can hear it's that loud but she maybe should be hooked up to other things.
I will chase.
She has a doctors appointment coming up in a couple of weeks as well so I am hoping that I can get her there. Or I will be asking for another home visit.
I am going to Aldi for the fruit and veg and on to see her next.
I have to be here by 2.30 for my children duties. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

I've never posted on your thread before, although I have been reading it for months. I am full of admiration for you BUT if your mum does have a UTI, then she needs to be seen a lot sooner than in the next couple of weeks.
My poor mum had a build up of urine in her kidneys which caused her massive problems. One kidney was way larger than it should have been, due to a blockage and "back flow" problem. Once she'd had a procedure to sort out the flow, and the urine was gone, she said that her life became a lot clearer - the urine issues had caused her to become confused.0 -
ALdi shopping is fatal. I bought a car boot tidy, two duvet covers for the children's rooms and storage containers for the kitchen cupboards. None of which were in my shopping list!
Mind you the storage containers will help reduce the packet spills in the larder cupboard.
The boot tidy hopefully will help me keep the new car organised. The duvets will allow me to have matching covers on the bunk beds. It will mean that I can get rid of one set that has been chewed by the hamster and ( recycling the fabric of course), and one of the more girly ones that I have had to use as a spare in the boys room.
I shall think about what I will do with the fabric. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

I am calling the doctors tomorrow.
Mum has been on a diuretic since she went into hospital. She has been going often, and was a little dehydrated and so I have told her not to take it, and we will see how she is. There was originally fluid from ties to knees, but she hasn't been swollen since before she came out of the hospital.
I will be trying to get her help as well.
I can only do so much at the moment, and I am trying to pace myself.
I have been with the children this afternoon and think I am cartoon and toy trained out!
I will be reading in bed as soon as I can get the eldest settled.
Dgd is hibernating in her den built from the spare blankets and bed toppers etc, she is comical at times.
DS is working so I have left him some dinner out. I cheated and bought a ready cooked chicken today. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

This may be an unpopular opinion but should you be telling her to stop taking prescribed medication? If she is dehydrated she needs to be drinking more and seeing a doc for an emergency appointment. Hope she's feeling better soon.Debts Jan 2014 £20,108.34

My MIL gets UTIs from time to time. IMO she doesn't drink enough, particularly she doesn't drink later in the day so she doesn't have to get up in the night.
She's gone through periods of confusion, blood tests revealed low vitamin B12 and vitamin D levels. She has quarterly injections now which helps. We can sometimes tell when they are due as she starts getting more confused as the effect of the previous job wears off.Make £2025 in 2025

Slinky it might be worth a discussion with MIL's Dr to increase the frequency of they injections. A couple of family members also receive those injections, one as frequently as every 4 weeks the other on a 10 week cycle, this has helped tremendously.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
