I've been SW food shopping today, must say I am loving the sausages and burgers and meatballs, although I found 5% less fat beef meatballs and quarter pounders in Aldi this week, the meatballs 1/2 a Syn per three ball serving, don't know about the burgers cant find them on the Syn tool.
Me and wife have been talking about target weight, I would like to get to 10st, but the last time I set that target I could not get down from 11.9st no matter what I did and I mean I tried everything so my "provisional target" is 11.9 and anything under is a bonus but I really really want that 10st.
Tete I suffer with PF quite a bit, to the point I cant walk normally on my right foot everytime I try it feels like someone is slicing a scalpel from the heal to my toes followed by a burn then pins and needles when I'm off It, its better when I walk on the outside of my foot and not use the PF tendon if I can help it, when it is real bad, I use my crutches to stay off it.
I was actually thinking of buying liquid silicone, and doing a home brewed pour mold of my foot and making my own silicone shoe inserts or even soles, coz every off the shelf one I have bought just don't support the heal in the right place, full length and arch of my foot at all, and I heard its cheaper to buy this stuff and make your own than have prosthetics at the hospital make one and you may have to pay for ongoing repairs.0 -
Hi everyone,
Hope it's ok for me to jump on your thread! I've been doing SW (group - and I do the weigh ins) since October 2017. I got down to 3st 6.5 lb lost (of a total of 9 or 10 stone needed) but since giving up alcohol at the end of June last year I seem to have replaced it with sweet foods and my binge mentality has slowly crept back in to the point where I am now at just 2st 5.5lb lost - AND I have weigh in tonight where I suspect I'll have gained again. Absolutely dreading it.
My group is great and really supportive, but I need to try and immerse myself in everything SW to try and force me to see sense and stop my ridiculous binging on foods I don't need or particularly want if I'm honest.
I'm vegan, and I actually eat fairly healthily apart from the extras, and I've been pretty good overall at keeping my meals low or syn free all through this (with the odd blip of course).
It's really been the last 2 months that the weight has piled on - I broke up with my boyfriend of 5 years, twice, and I'm still feeling really strange about that. It's not an excuse, but I do feel it's contributing to a feeling of low self esteem and of course as we all know, food makes you feel better right? NOT.
So anyway, apologies for the long post. I hope it's ok for me to join you all.
I get 20 syns a day because I'm so blinking big by the way.
Here is today's plan:
B - Porridge made with 40g oats (HEB), 200ml unsweetened Almond Breeze (1), 1 tsp maca (1/2), 1/2 tbsp milled linseed (1), vanilla (F), banana (F), grapes (F), kiwi (F) and orange (S)
S - Sugar Snap Peas (S)
L - Homemade Potato and Leek Soup (F & S), Homemade Garlic & Herb Chickpea Croutons (2 for oil), Alpro Strawberry Go On yoghurt (1.5)
(Optional snack, am trying to avoid this one - small bag of sweet/salty popcorn 3.5)
D - EITHER stir fry with tofu, peppers, onions, mushrooms, baby corn and sugar snap peas, and wholehwheat noodles, soy sauce and sriracha (1 syn per tbsp) OR pasta with a 7 veg sauce, mushrooms, peppers and onion, linda m sausages probably
(I'm leaning towards stir fry as I am not having as much speed during the day as I usually would)
Treat - Hot choc made with HEA with marshmallows (9 syns)
I've actually given up chocolate in a bid to curb some of the binging as i LOVE chocolate, and my friend is doing it too, but we are allowing ourselves a hot chocolate (in syns) at the end of the day. It's working well for me so far making it like this, and I can make the syns less but this is my treaty version and it does motivate me to do better during the day so I can have it!
Pretty much planning on coming in on my 20 syns today, I'm always happy to use all my syns when on plan as it does take away the out of control "might binge" feeling.

elsiepac Hi!
Sary congrats on SOTW
On the bread front I do seem to have less of a loss when I've had bread (although I only have it when away for a weekend and it's not my only off plan indulgence!)0 -
Welcome elsiepac to the thread. Everyone is welcome.
The first thing I noticed was that most of your fruit was only Free and not Speed. It's a good idea to swap these for Speed fruit so it ups the amount of Speed you're having.
You said yourself that you usually have more Speed foods during the day so by changing the fruits you choose you'll automatically increase the Speed.
Which marshmallows are you having? 9 Syns seems a lot. You can have a 50g bag of mini marshmallows from Morrisons for 8 syns!
It's a great idea to cut out the chocolate if it's your trigger food and substituting it with a chocolate drink. Which chocolate are you using?
You might find it helpful to post your menu plans each day as a lot of us do. I find it helps me to stick to plan.

Back again - thought the last post was long enough without adding my menu plan!
Went to WI this morning and lost my holiday gain of 1.5lb pleased with that:j. Very rarely lose that much in one week. Have decided I'm going to stick to plan properly again this week, ie 5-15 syns a day rather than using the syn bank which I usually do to see whether that's going to be the way to get to bottom end of target range!
Today's plan:
B - omelette with 2 Laughing Cow triangles (part HEA)
L - Linda McCartney Red Onion and Rosemary sausage sandwich; persimmon, big slice of watermelon
D - Pasta bolognaise which is full of Speed veg. Will probably have another slice of watermelon (it's getting very ripe now as I bought it last week)
Planning on chopping up a pineapple later for the coming week's fruit.
HEA - milk for drinks
HEA2 - laughing cow triangles (part) probably won't need the rest although possibly I'll use some extra milk in drinks
HEB - bread
Syns - spread 1; G&Ts 12

Thanks so much for the tips! I totally agree - I always have a banana, but the only speed fruit I had left was oranges, hence that's the only one I had and the others were free. It's only a little bit and usually I have blueberries/strawberries/passionfruit etc. Right now it's definitely not my biggest cause for concernWhich marshmallows are you having? 9 Syns seems a lot. You can have a 50g bag of mini marshmallows from Morrisons for 8 syns!
The 9 syns is for 50g vegan mini marshmallows - they seem to be slightly higher synned than "normal" ones and when I compared to my friends "normal" marshmallows she had literally twice the volume! It's a great idea to cut out the chocolate if it's your trigger food and substituting it with a chocolate drink. Which chocolate are you using?
This is my slightly controversial bit - prior to January, 250ml Alpro Dark Chocolate Almond Milk counted as a HEA. With the new changes it no longer is.
However, I rarely use an A apart from this and when following the plan properly, I always saw a weight loss. Therefore I am still counting it as my HEA, at least for the foreseeable until I get back under control again. You might find it helpful to post your menu plans each day as a lot of us do. I find it helps me to stick to plan.
Great tip, thank you! I will try and do that as often as I can!
Pleased to report I am fully sticking to my planned food today and no binges (and am not having my little popcorn bag) so I'm on my planned 6 syns used so far. Including my planned 9 for my hot chocolate later that leaves me 5 if I have anything "synny" in my tea. VERY pleased with this.
I've been so bad lately that I haven't been counting, but I know that if I had, my syns would have been 100+ a day which is why I've been gaining weight rapidly. That's why I'm happy to use my 20 each day!!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old Style, Crafting and Techie Stuff boards. If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. In you diary pack you should have a SAS log if you true to yourself and write down everything you eat (the diary is only for your eyes, but you can hand it over to your consultant if you think you would gain better advice and support if you shared it with them), You could also do a For and Against list to list what do and do like about slimming world and the pros and cons of losing weight, or do what a lady in my group did, went out and bought a size 12 dress she really liked and pretty expensive too and hung it on her wardrobe so she could see it every day and remind herself to get the determination to get into that dress, 11stone and 2yrs later she wore that dress, so it can help to refocus.
Have you downloaded the slimming world app on your phone?
If not then I would recommend you did and find the online syn tools they're fantastic and can help you make savvy choices, when i'm out shopping im always looking for what syns are in foods I buy (I don't like syns on my plate as a meal its for things I get cravings for), and what alternatives I could buy that are lower in syn that I could eat higher in volume if that will satify a craving, E.G I love pickled onion monster munch their regular sized 25g bag is 5 1/2 syns though, aldi alternative monster claws 25g bag 4 1/2 syns.
I do a complete 50/50 mix of speed fruit and free fruits in a fruit salad, I make sure I have at least 1 per day.
Breakfast for comprises of:
1 https://groceries.iceland.co.uk/slimming-world-free-food-limited-edition-4-syn-free-vegetable-quarter-pounders-454g/p/67629
1.free range Egg cooked in fry light.
2xlarge lettuce leaves.
Mushrooms chopped.
Diced onion fried in Fry light.
Red onion sliced.
Cucumber (optional)
I put the "burger" once cooked into a cupped lettuce leaf fill it with the salad stuffs and onions, put another leaf covering the top and bang I have a burger (I don't like the muchrooms as burger buns yuk).
Its so filling that it sets me up from 9am till about 4 without the need to find snacks or other foods, so I reserve the best part of the days allowance of syns for the evenings.0 -
Hi everyone and Newbies,
Well done to all losers this week....Keep up the hard work you know it will be worth it in the long term.
Weigh in for me this morning and pleased to say I am -1lb this week. It's becoming harder to shift anything much as I get towards my target weight but I am going to keep at it. I want at least another half stone gone by summer.
Fingers crossed for next week that I continue to diminish from my former self.
Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone for advice and encouragement. So THANK YOU
Tata for now.:D[STRIKE]68 [STRIKE]Mouses[/STRIKE] [/STRIKE]
OMG, I'm rich! Silver in the hair, Gold in the teeff, Crystals in the Kidney, Sugar in the blood, Lead in the butt, Iron in the arteries and an inexhaustible supply of natural gas! I never thought I would accumulate such wealth!! :rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Elsiepak thanks for the explanations. When I said about the marshmallows I had forgotten you had said you were vegan. It's disappointing that you have to use extra syns compared to if you were not vegan.
I have to admit I know very little about veganism other than you don't eat meat or eggs but I'm sure there is more to it than that.
