Hi all, so sorry for lack of posting. Life has gone a wee bit mad of late! I didn't manage to weigh in last week, but this week I lost 1/2lb which is actually amazing after the last week
I'm also struggling to find the fees weekly. We're trying to be really frugal due to saving for work we need on the house. Has anyone gone from weekly sessions to going it alone at home with just the book? And if so, did it work?:think:

Well done sarymclary on SOTW :T

*SOTW is the person who lost most this week who also lost or maintained last week.

Goodness me, I did not expect that!! I'm not feeling quite so bad about my STS this week now.;)

Thanks for the chart Chrisv

I'm reassured that it isn't just me that finds bread doesn't help with weightloss. I've been steering well clear, and only had some in my first week on plan since the start of the year. I am going to keep it for rare occasions for nowOnce I reach my target I may feel more confident (she said terribly optimistically).

SarahC74 I don't go to group, and I'm not an online member either. I just didn't have the £ spare at the start of the year to do either, so do not have the new books, but do have the old ones from about 2014-ish, so Extra Easy plan very much the focus. I keep up to date with the new syn values by googling products like mad, and the guys on here are always incredibly helpful :A

Meal plan today was like this:
    B - banana & satsuma
    L - porridge HEB, sugar (1) milk from HEA (rest in tea/coffees); 0% yogurt & apple (1.5)
D - carbonara with extra onions and heaps of mushrooms, ham and lean bacon. (10)
    Snack - nectarine

Sauce wasn't SW friendly as such, but I bulked it out with 0% greek yogurt and water, then used a bit of a powdered sauce mix to help thicken it up. Worked out what the syns would be based on the 1 syn per 20 cals theory (177 cals) plus extra for luck. It was a sauce from Aldi and some Colmans dry mix. Decided it was my WI day treat. Still under the syn allowance for the day.

Am really hoping we have some milder dry weather coming our way soon so I can make the most of getting out in the garden again for a bit of exercise. I have plantar faciitis on my feet, which is aggravated by walking or being on my feet for a period of time. It has improved over the years with lots of care, never walking barefoot (even to the loo), and cushioned footwear, so as much as I would love a nice leisurely stroll, I know I would aggravate it and make it painful if I'm not careful. We've got some decorating to get done in my son's bedroom soon, so that should help I'm sure, but being more active definitely helps my weightloss. I used to do aquafit twice a week but the miserly pool have dropped the heat of the water to the extent that it's absolutely freezing and really not enjoyable - I'm sure it's a cunning plan by the local council to get it closed to save £. In the summer I can cycle to work too, but I'm just willing the warmer spring weather to come.
One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

I did. I went for 12 weeks at the start of 2017 then carried on at home. I lost 3.5 stone, getting to target in March 2018, and I've maintained for nearly a year. I did a long post about going it alone somewhere on the thread - I'll see if I can find it.* I think if you understand the principles, you can do it under your own steam. Of course, many people get a great deal of support via the groups, so I suppose it depends how important this is for you. Give it a go - you can always go back if it's not working for you.

Over syns today due to an unplanned biscuit incident, but I have a few in hand so not as bad as it could be!

    Todays menu
B 1/2 grapefruit with 1/2 tsp sugar. weetabix
L Aldi's chicken sausages and pasta in a HM speedy pasta sauce, orange (Dinner at lunchtime due to DDs work shift)
D Egg mayo sandwich, salad, the aforementioned biscuits Probably not a good idea to swap meals around....

Out for lunch tomorrow so hope I can make sensible choices.

*SarahC74 it's post no 312 on this thread - dont know hoe to link to it!

esmy I didn't see that post as it was while I was on holiday but must say it's a very good and useful post for anyone going it alone. Personally I think it is worth anyone wanting to go it alone to attend group once to get the new books and new member talk as I think it helps you understand the plan a bit better.

I wonder whether your post ought to be added to the information at the start of the thread. Chrisv what do you think?

Welcome to the thread but are you actually following SW or just dieting? What you're eating doesn't sound sustainable for life.

I eat normal food with just a few adjustments like using Frylight instead of oil, sweetener instead of sugar.

There is no need to cut down on carbs just don't smother them in oil, butter etc unless you syn it.

You can also have alcohol in moderation as well as chocolate within your syn allowance:D, certainly no need to cut these things out.

    Denise

Thanks for your concern. I left out protein in my notes, plus I take multivits and fruit. I'm just dieting.

Years ago I went on a Rosemary Conley fat free diet and lost a stone in a month.

Can I have your thoughts on bread, and how it affects weightloss for you on the plan?

It certainly makes me very windy! :o Not sure about weightloss but after everyone's comments I think I'll steer clear as much as possible.

I too had a 'UBI' earlier in the week, but managed to stop it before it became an Unplanned Crisp Incident too.

Thanks for the chart Chris and well done Sary!

Sary I sympathise with your plantar fasciitis in both feet - I had issues with PF in one foot for a big portion of last year, stemming from a running injury. I had to take a day off work one day, and I'm never off sick, because I physically couldn't move around the house to get dressed. Couldn't believe how painful it was! I seem to be coming out the other side now with a mixture of stretches and, like you say, wearing sensible shoes and fitflop slippers at all times around the house. One thing that really helped was an overnight splint I got for around £12 on amzn, that keeps your foot flexed so it's less painful when you first get out of bed - that might be worth a try if you haven't already.

On the same theme - I almost fell over when I opened the post yesterday and I have a podiatry appointment next week! I was referred in March last year and thought that ship must have sailed, but will definitely keep the appointment as I'd love to be fitted for some insoles for running. I'm using some off-the-peg ones at the moment and they're ok, but I'm still getting issues all the way up my left leg. I was once told my left leg is slightly shorter than my right so it would be amazing just to be able to run without constant niggles.

Now that I've prattled on about feet for half a page (sorry!)...

    Today:
    B - None
D - Quorn bacon*, onion, mushroom omelette
T - Spag bol, 20g low fat cheese
    HEA - Milk and cheese
    HEB - Nuts
    Syns - Sugar in coffee (5), hot choc (2) = 7

*I don't think I'll be buying the Quorn bacon again - it repeats on me later with a fake smoky bacon flavour as though I've been eating Frazzles :( (sorry for TMI)

Today is a day of sorting out and personal admin - oh joy!

EDIT - Oh great I do a long post about wind and feet and it's come out at the top of the page
