  • Morning all,

Not a particularly costly weekend but I didn't manage a NSD. Meaning I'm still on 16/17. I'll smash it for the remainder of this week though.

A busy weekend was had, but productive. I ate a lot of frogs, with only a couple remaining. I'll try and squeeze them in before the month is out!

NSD – 17/15 – hopefully I will have another three by the end of the month as I am at work and generally don’t spend money there

Make plans for the month – DS2 has a thing a beavers tonight but it doesn’t cost anything

Always pay your debts first – budget for food set –all updated budgets updated

List your frogs – DS2s bedroom all decorated and new desk in. Just to organise books and toys etc which we will do next weekend.

Little savings – continued collecting in my 365 challenge up over £30 now

Chill out – chilled last night as I was shattered after hospital visiting, ironing and also being up half the night with DH’s snoring !!!!

    Helping others – will do

Always be grateful – 3 things I am grateful for are:

    - aunt being ok after a fall although in hospital
    - DS1 doing his homework without being nagged
    - for a lovely Sunday dinner made by DH

    New to You – nothing

    Get involved – checking in

Exercise – steps done every day so far

Sort it out – need to rearrange freezers again as I bought some frozen bits over the weekend which need to be put away properly. Looking to buy a new freezer as ours is 12 years old and is starting to have lots of ice round the lid even though we defrost and clean it regularly. Still have this to do due to having an emergency visit to the hospital yesterday

[Spend free days (NSD’s) – Aiming for 15 - 5/15 No more NSDs as did food shop, paid roofer, bought DS some kit and had my haircut

Make plans for the month – nothing else planned and no money left in the pot for extras

Always pay your debts first – All DDs gone out to debt, re started carpet account OP pot which now has £15.90 in it after some TCB and TTs

List your frogs – I have made a short list of frog priorities to get done this week.

    Little Savings – nothing added

Chill out – a chilled weekend for once

Helping others – nothing to add

Always be grateful – Today I am grateful for

    1) friends
    2) my home
    3) DH and DS

New to You – repurposed a couple of items and restarted a book I began last year and gave up on to avoid buying more kindle books

    Get involved – I'm here!

Exercise – I haven't run for nearly a week and its due to snow this week. Will take dog out at lunchtime as WFH

Sort it out – used up some frozen blackberries in an eves pudding type thing yesterday.

Cycled this morning but it was very, very cold and my hands were really hurting despite two pairs of gloves, that coupled with the ice and the blinding sunshine meant I cut it short so I may run after tea.

I have someone coming at teatime to collect an ebay sale, with ebay I believe it when I see it as we seem to attract the nutters, it's £24 plus a big item out of the house. Today may be a NSD but I may call for dog food later.

Hope your ebayer turned up, dolly! :)

NSD today. Rather chilly here - heavy snow predicted for Thurs, but no doubt that'll change and it will end up as sleet! :)

OH has a meeting tomorrow with a local recruiter, close to the city centre, so I may pop along for the ride and then walk into the centre - there are a couple of things I can't find in the supermarkets locally and I wonder if any of the discount stores in town have them. I dislike going into town just for the sake of it. I think there's a couple of freebies I can get with an app, too (stocks permitting!) And I *think* I can get a free cup of tea too :T

A warning light came on in my car tonight - diesel particulate - I have to go for a drive in no higher than 3rd gear with revs in between 2 points for around 15 -20 mins to burn it off. Will aim to do that when back from town - don't want to do it before as roads are likely to still be busy and I want a good run if I can!

Used some new potatoes from early Dec today (were going a bit soft) - cubed, parboiled and then fried off in fryl1ght to go with cottage pie mince and veg. 2 portions of the potatoes left over - they will be nice in a frittata or with an omelette :)

Today I am thankful for warm clothes, central heating, plenty of food in the house, getting lots of paperwork sorted/ filed/ recycled/ shredded.

DS3 has cleared out a whole set of toys from his room - virtually unplayed with so I'm going to list them on fb00k for him. I've also got some never-put-up still-in-packaging blinds to list (now don't fit) - hopefully I can recoup some of the cost (back from 2007!!!) and get rid of some more unwanted stuff! :D

    NSD today - 20/20.
Went for walk in the park. Finished off doing the bird watch weekend. Submitted my results.
    Done self care.
    Grateful for:
Doing the bird watch event. Will continue to learn about the variety of birds in garden/park. Activity is free.
Doing a test run for 2 trails with clues. Printed off trails and hopefully be able to do them in the next week or so. They usually cost £6.99 each, so got them for free. (apart from printing them off which did not cost that much).
    Hot water bottle and throw.

Sorry it's been ages! I got knocked off for my IP address for some reason when I last tried to update here.
I'm on 20 no spend days which is a lot less than I hoped by this point in the month but it's been a toughie.
Tried a new medication which went really badly and so I am giving up on it but I feel like I lost a weeks progress in the meantime. I am trying to be kind to myself and keep going.
Managed to go swimming after work tonight which felt awesome!
Grateful for my supportive partner, and pay day!

A long hard day. I had an appointment at 9 am (they request you get there 10 minutes early) so set the alarm for 6. Did not get to sleep until 3 am. Got ready and walked round to the taxi office just after 8 am - no taxis until after 9. So I walked, with the walker and arrived on time (50 minutes as opposed to 10 when I was pregnant and about 20 more recently).

It was a follow on appointment from Friday with the occupational therapist who is on their team (specialist weight management) and we discussed various health issues I have + side effects from various medications and the challenges I'm currently facing and the changes I have made over the past year.

Unlikely that I will get any money - you need to score highly on the personal care elements and so far I can wash and dress myself (by accident rather than design my wardrobe is full of pull on , pull off clothing). She was very helpful and is coming here tomorrow, to observe me getting round the house and demonstrating how I manage to do things.

So I might qualify for help with equipment like an extra stair rail and grab bars. I mentioned that I was going to start looking in the charity shops for perching stools and she said not to pay for them, if anything like that will assist me, they will provide it. I had a perching stool when i was recuperating from my hip replacement and it was very useful.

They can't pay for cleaners but may be able to negotiate a reduced fee for me. I've been considering getting a cleaner, either for a one off deep clean to get things properly under control or to do the most onerous jobs (perhaps once a month) and hope I could keep things at a manageable level in between.

Also need to have a serious talk with DS3 and Beloved (in a non-confrontational way) about them taking on some of the household chores). I mentioned changing duvet covers to the OT and its something that DS3 could easily do (at 6 foot 7 inches and a corresponding wingspan).

Paid 2 pounds 50 pence for a taxi home, phoned mum to see if the bread and milk supply is holding out (I put some of each in the freezer for her) and then went round. She wanted to know what my appointments were, with whom and what had been said/ done/ decided. I also broke the news that Beloved is waiting to see a consultant as she has suspected Addisons disease (she didn't ask the doctor to explain, she came home and googled it and scared herself silly).

I have told mum not to fret or worry, it is what it is and we will deal with it , if and when the diagnosis is confirmed. (I hadn't told her previously because she would have asked me how Beloved was every day and until her consultant's appointment, there is nothing to say).

Mum had done some of the jigsaw and we both did more (she had done a bit of work on the carefully selected bits I had separated out for her and then taken all the pieces out of the box and spread them on boards (we have a couple of largish ones and use the backs of the placemats - I find they are just the right size and weight to hold a good selection without getting too heavy - you can move around the table and work on one section ).

I offered to go early tomorrow (to get back in time for my visit) or go on Wednesday instead but mum insisted she would be alright. I had noticed her appetite wasn't great just after Christmas but she was enjoying cheese on crackers so I've stocked up on those and she's enjoying them.

Today I am grateful for an enjoyable appointment with a helpful and interesting professional, for fishfingers and swede and carrot mash from mum's freezer and for being okay (lots of things are less than perfect but I'm coping and doing the best I can and that's enough).
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.
