Today I am grateful for being well enough for my usual Tues out and abouting, for getting more items for the foodbank, for my counsellor, for recorded progs to watch at leisure, for plenty, for dd enjoying her new level of swimming lesson, for bumping into our neighbours, for the crocuses/croci appearing, for my multicoloured pen.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

Whoops haven't posted for a while, between work and personal life it's been a tough week
Spend free days (NSD’s) – I'm going to aim for 20 as money is going to be pretty tight this month - now on 17/20.
Make plans for the month – I've got a couple of things planned for this month but will make sure that they are as low budget as possible - next up is theatre evening with the girls, ticket already paid for but will probably go out for a meal/drinks before.
Always pay your debts first – Budget is done for January and debt payment has been made - nothing additional paid.
List your frogs – Made a start on this and will add to the list as I think of more - got rid of a few clothes that I no longer wear.
Little savings – I've added a whole £2.50 to my emergency fund taking it to £9.50 :rotfl:, will continue to add as I can - nothing added.
Chill out – Will aim to read a bit every day. I've also got a few adult colouring books which have been sitting there for ages so will aim to do some colouring in too - spent some time colouring.
Helping others – I've set up a charity donation which will come out at the start of the month. I'll also add items to the food bank whenever I'm in the supermarket - nothing added.
Always be grateful – Will post 3 gratitudes each day. - coffee, good shift at work, yummy leftovers for tea
New to You – Me and OH are planning to do a huge sort though of all our stuff, there's still unopened boxes from when we moved in, who knows what treasures we might find- nothing done.
Get involved – I always struggle with daily posting but will try this month - I'm here
Exercise – I really need to get back into exercising regularly. Now have new running shoes so no excuses! - went to a gym class yesterday.
Sort it out – I don't really have anything in the cupboards lurking that doesn't get used except spices but will aim to use up some of them - nothing used.Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.7.25 - £106,653.66
Mortgage overpayment savings - £33.53/£50
Mortgage overpayments so far - £612.990 -
Not sure about today. Visit went well - on the whole. Basically there is too much stuff in my house, the whole house is a trip hazard, possible fire hazard and maybe a health hazard (damp patch in my room due to roof repairs still being outstanding - must put that top of my frog list especially if I can delegate it to Mrs Builder).
There are things that would help me but atm it would only add to the obstacle course. Having another meeting at the clinic in a couple of weeks and OT will investigate available help in the mean time. My stair climbing/ descending technique was praised.
She was very kind and said that it was understandable that things had got out of control, given the health/ mobility restrictions that have been imposed on me recently. However as things are more likely to decline than improve (sprained ankle should get better although I think it will not be next week) plans need making.
DS3 wandered in, in the middle of our discussion but claimed that all the mess is mine (as he dumped a pile of dirty dishes on top of the freezer;). I have said quite clearly that there are things I can no longer do and I need help. Beloved came down (we had woken her), different points of view were expressed and she went back upstairs (followed by DS3).
After the OT went, I followed them to do a group hug and a few tentative ideas have been put forward. I had a rest before starting on loading the machines and ripping up several large cardboard boxes to fill the paper bin. DS3 has admitted that hardly any of his clothes fit so I could be taking 3 wardrobes worth to the charity shop soon.
I've had a little clear out (12 more things for the charity bin) and decided to halve my possessions (not sure how but will make a start). I hate to waste anything but some things are not worth the space they are taking up. Will start putting deadlines on some items and if i have not used them will pass them on (thinking of things mum has 'let go'). Ruthless editing from now on.
Have jotted down some ideas this morning - things that need doing, things that have worked previously that I need to resume, anything and everything that might help. I'm very tired but don't know if it's yesterday's walk, today's exertions or just emotional overload.
Today I am grateful for the help and support I am getting, for a successful brainstorming session and for Christmas leftovers from the freezer. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Nearly there only a couple of days left in January and to be fair this is the most focused month lve had. I've managed 15 nsds which is a miracle in its self. I have room in the freezer for food after eating from the store cupboards just a shame my savings become depleted due to circumstances beyond my control(DD) but hopefully will see this improved in February xCount down to retirement 20230

The promised snow turned up for half an hour and prettily fell, and did not settle. Oh well.

Foxholes-
I think its Wednesday but really no where near as sure as I'd like to be! X0 -
Sounds like you have a plan Mothernerd. Can you start with bring ruthless in your most used spaces? Is there anyone who can help out for a couple of days, or can you hire a skip to bung things in? If DS thinks it's all your mess (ha!) he should be on board with most of it going. I know it's not particularly friendly to the environment, but you need to be able to move around your own home safely.
12 NSDs for me this month, might get to 13 but a spend day today as I need to do the weekly shop. Planning on another mini stock up after yesterday's sh*t show, even my most sensible friends are preparing for petrol and food shortages .
Today I am grateful for: a way forward at work, a warm cat, the snowpocalypse not arriving (which means my morning run is not cancelled!)0 -
Spend free days (NSD’s) – Aiming for 15 - 6/15 Nearly got a 7th but had to buy a new iron
Make plans for the month – nothing else planned and no money left in the pot for extras, Have turned down 2 invites for March as I already have several things booked in
Always pay your debts first – Nothing extra paid off
List your frogs – new frog list done and totals 54 items! One done yesterday and another due to be completed today
Little Savings – nothing added
Chill out – watching silent witness, reading my book
Helping others – nothing to add
Always be grateful – Today I am grateful for
1) working at home this week when the weather forecast isn't great
2) finding some great YS bargains for DS work lunches:money:
3) DS developing a love of reading
New to You – remembered that the shoe rack in the cupboard under the stairs extends and doubled our shoe storage :T
Get involved – I'm here!
Exercise – I haven't done anything and am now a week behind with C25K at the running club. Struggling to get motivated in the cold.
Sort it out – I have been using stuff up but not convinced I've kept the list UTD!Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
Make £2021 extra income - £99.750 -
I've hit my target 17/17!! It slowed down towards the end of the month but I got there.
It's also been a super productive month, eating lots of frogs throughout thanks to you guys. I've also managed to get lots of exercise done and look to continue that into next month too!
See you all there!0 -
Glenda - how do you prepare for a petrol shortage?
Dawn - that is a long time to wait to see a doctor, they need to realise that people do need to see a doctor even if they are not at deaths door.
Wasn't planning on spending today but took advantage of the fruit cane and seeds offer on the email, so a spend of £17.94. I was planning on getting these items at some point anyway. No other plans to spend though.
Dog is walked and I think I may run this afternoon before the school run. I am very grateful for the most gorgeous charity shop jumper I am wearing, it is super cosy and makes me look even taller than I actually am.
Lots of washing done today, heated airer is on as is the drier unfortunately, defrosted a freebie cornish pastie for DH for his tea, I am having roasted root veg and the kids are having tortellini, I love cooking 3/4 meals - not. Have done some cleaning and will do a bit more later.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler
