A slow day here. I may only be scraping the surface but I have done lots of nibbling of various elephants. Scrubbing at small bits of the bathroom floor (started with the worst bit), hanging a few clothes, putting a few away in a drawer, scooping up handfuls of rubbish and recycling. Not made a visible difference so far but hope it will pay off. Can now stand on my ankle for 5 - 10 minutes until it gets unbearable so that's what I've been doing.

Last night I contacted DS1's Best Man (she's a girl) who i passed a load of craft stuff on to. I asked how she was getting on and if she wanted more. She has started doing hand embroidery. I explained that I was trying to a rapid declutter. I offered her the sewing machine mum let me take a while ago and my own as well.

She was very keen on the idea - she runs a sewing and crafts group for young mothers in Glasgow to enable them to socialise and help their mental health. She is coming down here in a couple of weeks to see her mum and offered to pop in to look at what I had so I am going to gather everything together (machines, any material, reels of cotton, zips (any clothes I make will not have zips or buttonholes), spare tape measures and let her take anything she can ,make use of either with her group or for projects at home (she made the dress she wore at the wedding). Then I will make do with whatever is left - might make me focus on actually doing something if I don't have 12 different things to have ideas about.

She thinks her sister might use some of my remaining craft items with her nursery school pupils. I'll gather stuff together slowly in the few days before she comes. She can have a drawer full of embroidery threads as well (and some aida if she's using that). If it's going to a good home and will be used, it's so much easier to let it go.

I have given away all my embroidery/ craft supplies twice before in my life so it won't kill me. Will also see if I can get mum to part with the other sewing machine and have a weed out of her cotton reels. If we need to do repairs I can always find an embroidery thread to match and it's usually not that critical.

Thank you so much for January's thread ccl. I did not make my SFD target but that was mainly due to my ankle. I have actually done about a tenth of the shopping I normally do but it had to be done in drips and drops. One small shop could take 3 days because I had to keep sitting down. Happy with budgets (anticipating more travel expenses in February).

Today I am grateful that the snow has gone in some places (still not risking going down the back to bring the bins back and I'm not bringing them in the front door either), for some light but entertaining detective serials (one with Peter Capaldi in) and getting things done however slowly.
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.

    NSDs - I made it - 16/16 - YAY!:j

Frogs - I will be continuing with those.
Little savings - this was the eye-opener for me:eek:. I joined the ‘bring your lunch to work’ group and did 16 days of homemade lunches and drinks. I put £160 into savings just from this.
Chill out - I’m behind on the crochet along :o. I’ve been a bit hit and miss with meditating but have definitely done more than before.

Helping others - donated to food bank and to Oxfam.
Always be grateful - I write every day in my journal.

New to you - I haven’t bought any new craft items. I’m doing the CAL with old yarn. I plan to avoid buying any new craft items next month too and continue with ‘new to you’.
Exercise - I signed up to RED January. I didn’t walk yesterday or today due to the ice. I’m going to try and keep walking in February.
Sort it out - I plan to do more of the ‘use it up’ boxes.

I loved reading December’s thread and really enjoyed this month. Thank you CCL:T. Looking forward to February’s challenges now! Good luck everyone x

Just checking in after a busy month.

Its been pretty good, exercise has been sound and regular, decluttering has been good and mainly alcohol free. Going to carry that on into February. Money has been carefully doled out and mainly put against the debt. All in all not a bad month and thanks for all the support on these boards xx

ended on 20/15 NSD so really happy with that. Good month this month. Shopping budget slightly exceeded but I was stocking up my cupboards as we had horrendous snow in March last year and I was lucky that my freezer and cupboards were stocked so doing this same this year.

Looking forward to the Feb thread so will head over there now. Thanks CCL for a great challenge.
