Nothing de-cluttered yet, but the day is young...however I've had word from the garage that the part that's failed on my car (essential part of the DPF) has to be replaced ASAP, shouldn't really be driving on it. That's going to set us back a bare minimum of £400, plus labour and VAT, probably more!!:mad: More bothered about the fact that we need to drive to the airport next week when we go on holiday...*&£%@%&$&...oh and there's a screw in one tyre as well!! :(

Think I need some very strong coffee or a double G&T before I get cracking with de-cluttering! :D

    A xo

I hate to tell you this, but the labour on this may be expensive... my EGR valve had to be replaced earlier this year (my fault, I have a diesel and do low mileage over short distances these days) and they pretty much have to take the whole engine out, so it's a big job.

Having posted on this thread for the first time just over a week ago I have now decided to make myself accountable to give me that extra bit of motivation so here goes

A little background information...due to impending building works I need to completely clear out 2 bedrooms and my hall landing and stairs so that they can be replastered. I have enlisted my mum to help over the bank holiday weekend but would like to clear a large portion of it prior to then so that we can concentrate on dump and charity shop runs.

As I work full time and have a medical condition that causes fatigue I have to pace myself and do most things over the weekends. This weekend I am aiming to empty the fitted wardrobe and airing cupboard. This will also involve another pass through of my clothes so that I have space in my wardrobe for anything I want to keep

Hopefully I will achieve more than this. I will update after the weekend.

    Happy decluttering everyone

I'm on a roll :rotfl: Got rid of a very large empty Amaretto bottle (no idea what it was doing on the shelf!), and 5 other things of lil son's. then took 40 more electrical items of the ex's to the tip (shame he wasn't also in the bag LMAO!!) yesterday :D

Then today despite having the MOTHER of all mozzie bites that's swollen my hand right up, I have evicted 183 DVDs, CDs and games belonging to lil son and a couple of ex's :T Which takes me over the 1000 mark at last :j:j:j:j:beer:

Helloo, wow you sound just like me!! I'm renovating this house as I live AND work in it - total nightmare. Need to declutter from sons and ex moving out and leaving stuff here like other ex's have done, to get the rest of the rewiring done - and then finally plasterer and decorate. But drive is collapsing and chimney needs repointing too :(:(:(

I'm self employed and run my business from here which means lots of dogs around the place. I'm currently working 24/7 for 6 weeks without a day off - I've had one evening off so far and will get another two in Sept..
I also suffer chronic fatigue and chronic pain so know about pacing, which I'm not good at as there is so much to be done all the time, and only me to do it :( Although a friend is going to help me one day next week to declutter the empty bedrooms some more :T

    Afternoon fellow declutterers
After several good days in the garden, the rain and wind has stopped play and the forecast is set to last, so most probably the whole weekend will be a right off :(. Now I hang my head in shame as I haven't done any decluttering other than day to day stuff . I've spent the day doing absolutely nothing except cook tea :D. I'm as they say "recharging the old batteries "......... that's my story and I'm sticking to it :p.
However tomorrow's another day and I want/need to sort out the bottom of our wardrobe because it's a mess. Someone has been just throwing things in there and closing the doors ......... well, that's me told then :rotfl:. I'm sure there are some items lurking there that are unwanted by me and DH ( but I may have to twist his arm a bit ).
Hugs are going to all, but extra special ones to those going through health issues or financial ones.
    Take care all

We do seem to be in a very similar situation although I do go out to work. It's just me and the 5 dogs and they haven't caught the decluttering bug yet :rotfl: I also have a lot of ex OH's carp to get rid of. He was a bit of a hoarder. I have got rid of lots so far but still a lot more to go.

I've cleared all of the outside including a full summer house which has also now gone. My bedroom and the bathroom have both been decluttered and fully renovated although I think I need to revisit clothes and the large bathroom cupboard. A lot has gone from the loft but the rest of the things up there will have to wait until after the rest of upstairs and the hall, landing and stairs have been finished.

Think I might spend an hour or so on my wardrobe now before bed.

The weather stayed quite nice until about 5 p.m. but it has rained on & off since then with several heavy showers (which I have managed to avoid :T) DH got back from his MOT at the same time I got back from the sm. As well as his full English he had visited a barber. He has decluttered a lot of pennies but nowhere near the number he will have to declutter on his next service :(
I dropped off the bag of notebooks, tape & plastic sleeves at the CS clothing store - gratefully received as the whole shop floor was covered with donation bags & the young lady needed notebooks to list the donations :D I think she was rather happy that I hadn’t brought in a clothing donation :rotfl: Walked to sm, did my shopping then picked up some tissue paper, wrapping paper & a card for the soon to be great great niece. On the way to payment desk I found 20p :D, paid for my goods & then only had to wait a few minutes for my bus.
Now are you seated comfortably & ready for a joyously weird & wonderful tale ......................

The last passenger on the bus spent a few minutes talking to the bus driver before we pulled away. A couple of stops into the journey I glanced down at the floor & spotted a purple card holder. Tapped a gentleman on the shoulder & asked if it was his. No came the answer but “I believe the lady at the front of the bus was talking about a lost pass” I opened it up, photo ID of a lady who was rather similar looking to the lady at the front of the bus, so off I went. She was the owner & almost cried she was so happy to get it back. Now for the weird & wonderful - she had lost her Freedom pass on her way to the sm & somehow got back on the exact same bus for her journey home :D I found the pass on the floor next to the seat she had used on her initial journey :D Never have I been so happy that I look down rather than up :rotfl: Serendipity at work :T:T
Dinner was - not to blow my own trumpet :o - my best ever cottage pie with green beans. So tasty that DH & DSis both had large 2nd helpings. My DSis stated it was the best one yet & she particularly enjoyed the lo kidney beans & sweetcorn I had added. Mind you it was very tasty 😋

    Hi greenbee

Nice to see you CEW & good luck for the weekend decluttering :D I like it - disposing of a building - that must count as 100 :rotfl:

You are on a roll savvy - excellent numbers & congrats on breaching the 1,000 mark :T Sorry about your circumstances but well done on your work arounds :T

:naughty::naughty: nannywindow - day to day decluttering is just as important as decluttering projects :p

Catcrazy - good choice of one in, 1 or 2 out :T. Surprising how it concentrates the mind when out shopping knowing that you have to get rid of items when bringing in new items :rotfl:

    See you all later

I know, my mechanic said it would be 3 hours work to remove, same to replace with new, plus a bit more!!:mad: However, there may be a silver lining since I posted. Turns out the flexible exhaust pipe that's broken (some sort of alloy) can be removed and a new one crimped or welded on, at a MUCH lower cost. The mechanic can do a temporary fix that will keep the car safe for driving to the airport, and then we'll get it sorted after the holiday. The Skoda dealership actually told me that people do this, and whilst he couldn't officially sanction it, he had friends who'd done just that on various makes of car. Feel very relieved now!! Mine's a diesel, and we don't do enough long journeys in it, so now and again we tootle off Far Away for a day out, just to give the old girl a good run!

Right, have decluttered a mug of peppermint tea, and shortly off to parkrun to declutter the fog in my head and some sweat!! :rotfl:
