Hi All,
I'm due to move out of my flat and rent it out, therefore I thought I was best getting some sort of policy to cover my boiler (and possibly central heating) as I know I would be obligated to repair things ASAP if a tenant was living there. So far British Gas' policy seems to suit my needs best, as they also include a service, which I've been quoted £80 for alone, so for £11 a month seems the best option. I just wondered what people's experiences with BG have been. And also do you know if they come and do the service as soon as you take out the policy? And will they provide me with a certificate of the service? Thanks for your help.0 -

Like all big companies you will mostly only hear the negativess.
If your renting out, you will need to pay for a Landlords Gas Safety Certificate (CP12 certificate) to be carried out as well.Promo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?0 -

Are there any offers to use BG for a boiler package? (we used them 2 years ago then enrolled witha local plumbing&heating company maintenance scheme who offered a poor service. much preferred BG service at the time)0

^^^^ Similar - I'm with BG and didn't notice the price creep - £25+ pm. Time to renegotiate methinks. But it would be useful to hear about other deals so I know what's realistic.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

How about putting that £25 per month into a savings account?0 -
My wife and I took out a policy with British Gas as they are obviously a household name, our Baxi had a breakdown in relation to the expansion vessel and it took 3 days for the engineer to arrive, then it took him 4 days to obtain the relevant part and 3 hours to fix it. Now im not one to complain but we was guranteed a fast response, no hassle at a reasonable price! we cancelled straight after and renewed with our neighbors warranty company Boilershield, because we were changing from another company they gave us 3 months extra free, for half the price and 3 months ago the stupid boiler broke down again (expansion vessel!) no word of a lie my wife phoned them and was welcomed with a delightful and concerned attitude and we had an engineer within the hour who fixed the boiler on the spot as he had the parts on board. Its a shame customers are mind controlled by these big companies just because of there name and their ridiculous prices, anyway just on here to reccomend, that is all www. boilershield .co.uk0

I live in a hard water area and have a water softener which means that my boiler, washing machine etc shouldn't scale up. I consider the unit part of my normal water supply but I've phoned a couple of service contract/emergency cover providers and both had to go away and find out what a water softener was (they are presumably in soft water areas) then told me that WS units are excluded. At least British Gas are up-front about excluding them.
Has anyone found a provider that includes them?If you can't think of anything nice to write, say nothing. Rudeness isn't clever.0 -

We are understandably cynical about first time posters who join specifically to give glowing references to companies(with their website)

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe you just get local plumbers to do the work.
I suggest you stick to Facebook. MSE readers are wary of firms in this field.0
