Does anyone know of any oil-fired boiler cover available in East Riding of Yorkshire?
We have recently moved into a house with a fairly new boiler but we're not sure how it works and it seems to come on and go off randomly.
We had British Gas Boiler & CH cover in our last house and they kept our boiler going for 10 years but were reluctant to find parts after that and urged us to replace it. We declined because of the cost but the monthly charge went up on renewal.

These 2 both cover oil fired boilers,

You'd need to contact the agent local to you to check that they do Oil fired boiler cover.

Im not sure where this company is based, but looks to be a nationwide service - you could ask if they cover your area.

I only did a quick internet search for oil fired boiler cover so you may have already seen these.
  • Thanks for this quick reply lenski:T. Will try them.

I want to take out boiler and heating insurance and did the comparison on uswitch and it came up with BG or home serve

BG offer the service yearly and is more expensive than home serve because of this

What would people recommend out of these two
  • Hi

I am currently looking for a good boiler cover plan. Can you tell me if there are any policies that cover appliances like electric showers as mine is currently playing up (low pressure light is coming on) and i was thinking about getting two birds with one stone.

    Thanks

My neighbour is with BG and has just been told that the price of her contract will go up due to the age of the boiler. It's 1 year old, fitted by BG!
I'm looking for an alternative for her, to cover service and parts and labour. Is there anything less bad than BG?

The age of the boiler will have an insignificant effect on the price..... the increase will more likely be down to make/model (cost of parts), and breakdown history of that particular model of boiler.

BG is probably the best of a bad bunch.
As long as you read the T&C's and are familar with what they cover, you wont get any nasty surprises
Promo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?
  • We have had this cover for three years, making two claims. The first claim was poorly handled, little communication or coordination.

The current claim started last Thursday.

Thursday -called Scottish Power hotline. Promised an engineer that evening, no show. Telephoned again to be told that the engineers finished at seven and we shouldn't have been promised a call. Re booked for Friday. Lodged complaint, promised a call within 24hrs from customer services.

Friday - day off work, couldn't promise morning or afternoon call, arrived at 6.30 pm. Confirmed my diagnosis of defective motorised valve. Promised call on Monday.

    Monday - No call

Tuesday - No Call, rang customer care and was told to wait until Thursday. Queried lack of contact from Customer Services. 30 minute wait in queue for call to be answered.

Thursday - No call from engineer (City Mech) but did get a call from Customer Services promising an engineer with the part would call after 3pm Friday.

Friday - Arrived home from work at 2.30 pm to find two answer phone messages from the engineer saying he called and we were not in!

Total incompetence, poor communication and inaccessible staff (its impossible to ring customer services directly or the scheduling department) To compound this all they have to do is fit a £40 Drayton motor to the valve, this is available from virtually any heating suppliers and is connected with three wires.

I was prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt but now as soon as our tie in with Scottish Power is at an end we will be leaving them. This is advertised as 'Emergency Cover' - it patently isn't and when queried they are keen to point out that they do answer the phones 24/7 but don't guarantee attendance or repair times. Emergency cover - I think not.

A cold week end awaits and potentially 11 days without heating, thank you Scottish Power for your non existent levels of service or customer care.

    Hi,
Wonder if anyone can help me on this i took out British Gas boiler cover 3 weeks ago online i got a email confirming my purchase and i said a agreement would be sent in the post in the next 14 days but i never got anything.
I contacted them this morning and was told i am not covered as my application has not yet been processed, they could not confirm when this would be done.
I do not have any problems with my boiler at the moment but just wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue with them i am considering going to another firm as i presumed you would be covered as soon as you take out the agreement not when they can be bothered to do the paperwork.
As winter is here i wanted my annual service doing before the cold weather sets in :(
