Gosh Dawn that's terrible. I hope they're all ok and the money needed is raised.0

Evening my little Frugal Christmas Fairies,
Pleasant couple of days visiting family & doing festive stuff. Today's money saving bits & pieces:
*Was treated to lovely coffee & mince pies at in-laws house.
*Collected turkey & paid balance, which was £2 less than the price we were quoted.
*Baked a tin of biscuits.
*Cooked & peeled the chestnuts. No waste this year so got my money's worth. The ones I bought last year were mostly rotten & would have walked to the bin on their own if I'd let them!
*Updated budget & grocery spends.
*Paid a few things off a CC which was only used for voucher points.
*Acquired a 10% dividend voucher from local Co-op.
*Update DFW diary - will do in a minute.
NOT money saving: buying a new blu-ray player. Grrrrr.
Have a nice evening all,

The manual dial ones I've had aren't always very good over the last minute or so. I don't want OH's porridge boiling over every day!
Yes, it is a digital one, it is black and looks quite smart, and works fine. I have just looked at the instruction leaflet and it is a 'Sainsburys Home 17l microwave oven' if you want to google. They had bigger ones as well, which cost a bit more, but this one is big enough for usPurpleFairy26 wrote: »Gosh Dawn that's terrible. I hope they're all ok and the money needed is raised.
It is awful, but could have been far worseAs for the money, I think the appeal has already reached 3 times the (modest) target. In many ways this is a grotty little town, with its fair share of poverty, crime, antisocial behaviour, drugs etc, and it is easy to forget sometimes how many kind, community minded people live here as well

My gift to you all:
:rudolf::rudolf::rudolf::rudolf:
Twas the night before Decemberfest, and all across the Net
Not a Moneysaver was spending, not a coin, not a Lek.
Their stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Frugal soon would be there.
The Savers were nestled all snug in their beds,
With visions of homemade jam in their heads.
DNM in her onesie, DawnW in her cap,
Had settled themselves for a warm, cost-free nap.
Suddenly outside there was such a clatter,
Foxgloves sprang from her chair to triage the matter.
Off to the window HappyK flew in a flash,
Tore open the envelope...coupons and reward points...free 'cash'!
Using Quidco and TCB FatVonD is a-glow.
Buying gifts reduced price, RRP much below.
When what to LaE's eyes should appear?
But a cut-price sleigh, and eight allotment-fed reindeer.
With Pixie the driver, coming to rescue the clueless,
I saw in a flash Mister Martin Lewis.
More rapid than eagles his Savers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!
“Save Baileys! Save CCL! Save Perni and Carrie!
Save NTBY! Save Ziggy! Save KatyAnn and Pippi!
On food. On gifts. On cars. On calls.
Save away! Save away! Save away all!"
Candy in faux-fur, from her head to her foot,
Warm clothes un-tarnished by ashes or soot.
Ally's foraged treats on the back of her bike,
Rocking the outdoors, Wee Elf-Shaped Dyke*.
PF's eyes twinkled! Linky's dimples were merry!
No Cadbury's Roses, saving every penny.
Karb's happy wee mouth was drawn up like a bow,
Enjoying Random Football, outside in the snow.
Stitchy spoke not a word, but went straight to her work,
Hand-stitching stockings by candle-light, in the dark.
And keeping us safe from perilous foes,
Shoot dons her uniform and off she goes!
St Martin sprang to his sleigh, to his Forum gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Decemberfest Money-Savers, To all a good night!"

Thanks for that Ally - it's amazing
Dawn - what a horrible thing to happen to that family, thank goodness nobody has been killed. I'm pleased that community spirit has won through though.
My last busy day. All cards and presents delivered and I have been to visit all of my family over the day. I also went to Mr S to collect my Christmas food order, which looks amazing! Thankfully I was lucky enough to find a parking space straight away and I managed to get in and out without too much trouble, in less than half an hour. Tomorrow I have no plans to leave the house at all.
Visited my dad, then went out with my mam and stepdad, my sister and her family for Christmas Dinner in the pub. It was really lovely, and has made me feel quite festive now.
Plus, my home made fudge seemed to go down well - I think I might make it again now that I've been reassured by everyone and nobody has died from eating it. :rotfl:Not giving up

Hi December Devotees,
Evening!:coffee: Finished work for a couple of days at dawn this morning. Got 2 hours sleep and then...
Debt-Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Year Four:
* Home-cooked big breakfast.
* Caught £3.30 each ferry to nearly island and had a wee hike with DW. Took a flask.
* Bought tickets for Ice-Hockey on New Years Eve. Used TCB. Super excited. Haven't been to a game for ages and the atmosphere is amazing. Cheaper than going out for a meal or hitting the town.

CLF: Sounds like the internal fuse, and/or the capacitor and/or transformer have shorted out. Definitely not usable. The burning smell and static noise is a sign of shorting.
