Dawn - the RSPB albatross stamp appeal is ongoing, not just for Christmas. I love writing letters so can hopefully keep adding a good few over the coming year.

Evening everyone :hello:
Just hoping to survive now until Friday half past three. It's becoming almost impossible at work - the kids are completely exhausted and wild at the moment. I am desperately tired and I just need a good night of sleep and a lie in. However, 2 more work days to get through.
Just helping dd re-dye her hair. I paid over £80 for it a couple of weeks ago and she hates it. Not light enough for her. I'm desperate not to bleach it at home but we've had a go with a toner and I've got my fingers very firmly crossed. Waiting for it to develop, then the silver shampoo and everything crossed even more. She keeps crying because it's not what she's wanted - I wanted to cry at how much I'd spent on it for her to hate it (from her Christmas money).
Managed a nsd today - blagged a couple of free pieces of pizza from school for my tea so I'm happy with that.
Other than that, just more of the same. Work. Sleep. Repeat.
Hope everyone is doing ok - I will catch up properly at the weekend.Not giving up

Happy Kitties thanks for your kind words. I can never get over how debilitating a cold can be.
I'm slightly better, but I am getting wiped out easily.
Foxgloves when I posted my question I knew you were away. I had been rereading your thread and I decided to ask, I have continued thinking and reading around the subject as well as taking on board the replies I've received. I feel if we are more aware we can use our money to work better for us, even if that is spending it, but on the right things.
Today, we are still all full of cold. I am glad to say it wasn't my turn to cook, I didn't feel hungry at dinner time but I joined everyone at the table and wolfed it, followed by seconds of delicious homemade food.
I've taken the children to different training sessions in different towns, at least both children go to both sessions. I've done various bits of shopping both groceries and presents, in stores and online. Also I've enjoyed sitting by the lit stove (kettles on top of course) drinking a pot of tea, the constant blowing my nose and sneezing less so.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Morning all
Thanks Foxgloves and Ally for the info on the albatross appeal. I will definitely be saving stamps all year round - I do postal surveys, so do get a lot of letters. I have an envelope almost full already, which I will send off once I am sure all Christmas cards have been received
Welcome to missyfree2017 - we like to see new people here, hope you stick with us. I went to uni when I was already a mum, so remember the challenges. It didn't put me off though, as after finishing my degree and teaching for a few years, I went back again.... and again :rotfl:
Anyway, off to market in a neighbouring town this morning, and more cleaning, and the present wrapping I didn't get round to yesterdayplanned for later.
I seem to have lots of leftovers in the fridge, so today's meals will be made from some of those.
Not sure what the rest of the day will bring, so will be back later to update0 -
Morning
ah I feel like I had a great night's sleep and feeling rested!
today it is dd's birthday and we are meeting up for lunch. She decided for it to just be me, madam and dd so that's one or 2 people less cost! Hoping she likes the gifts I got her! I only used recycled wrapping paper to wrap gifts
Other than that:
* take pup for 2 x walks
* hang up washing (I didn't do this last night)
* checked banking & paid pup co-sharer some money owed
* finish wrapping gifts. I think I have 5 left
* going in to town so will nip in haberdashery shop for zip slider & yellow thread. Will also nip in the cs that has a haberdashery section
* madam choosing a xmas gift for oh & dd
* B/D from stores
* knitting socks
* write list of bits needed to make gingerbread house with madam tomorrow
* finish tailoring trousers - just need to reconstruct & madam's dress for xmas day
* onepoll? Maybe....
That's all! Have a great dayDF as at 30/12/16

Hello Festive Penny Wranglers,
And on today's list.......
*Overnight Economy 7 laundry done overnight, now on heated airer. Almost pegged it out, but rain forecast for later, so bottled my early laundry bravery.
*Sort dry laundry with the aim of ironing as little as possible.
*Successfully iced my Christmas cake using the leftover fondant icing I froze after doing my last cake. All decorations plus ribbons from my baking box - nothing new purchased.
*Third batch of fudge (for gifting) made - coffee & walnut this time. Just setting, then I can have the tin back to prep for the final batch - plain vanilla - for a relative who doesn't like her intense relationship with fudge adulterated with fancypants flavours.
*Dinner will be leftover Spanish beef I did in the slow cooker yesterday - I just have the jacket potatoes to scrub & pop in the oven.
*Freeze leftover evaporated milk from fudge making, as it can go in a home made rice pudding at some point over the next couple of weeks.
*Check festive food shopping list ready for final grocery shop tomorrow. Also make a list of everything else I can usefully do while we're in town, as this will save time & parking charges.
*Knit. I do have to have regular breaks because of my sore tendon, but I really want to get this jumper finished & am simply hopeless as just sitting watching TV in the evenings without being busy creating something.
*Still no invoice received from ebay so dug around in my account & found one. Need to work out a few sums (some items were sold for a family member) then hopefully can cash out our Paypal account later today. I will be glad to get all the ebay postage money repaid into our budget.
*Defrost sausages & breadcrumbs ready for tomorrow's baking session.
*Find missing reindeer biscuit cutter - Done! He wasn't missing, he was squashed between my icing bag & a Dr Who cappucino stencil!! There WILL be reindeer biscuits this year!
OK, off upstairs to carry on my tasks,
DNMS - have a nice day with your daughter. Hope she enjoys her birthday & you all have a fun but chilled out day.
