Evening everyone
I am very pleased to report that I got a good 8 hours of sleep last night. I knew that I was end of term exhausted but when I went to bed before 9 I didn't expect to be asleep that early - but I was
Obviously I was up and about during the night at various times but I felt ok when I woke up this morning.
Good job as I've had quite a busy day. Went to the butcher's this morning to pick up the meat (pork and beef for us) and then did my usual tutoring session, followed by coffee and a catch up at bestie's house. We watched Bird Box together on Netflix and had a good chat. When I got home I did as much of a tidy up as I could bearing in mind that the house is quite cluttered with various chocolate/treats for Christmas and there are more presents than I thought lying about the house. I've sorted out everything to take to my mam and dad as I'll see them both at some point tomorrow - it is also my niece's birthday so I've sorted her present out. It feels cluttered but I suppose that Christmas always is when you factor decorations, presents and food in. :rotfl:
Tomorrow is a very busy one and I predict I'll be on the go for hours visiting people so I plan to have another early night tonight. Not giving up

Time to take back control

CCL as a fellow teacher I can completely relate to your counting down the days till Christmas holiday. Since breaking up I have slept, relaxed and eaten lots. It’s like your body needs time to rejuvenate after a very long autumn term. Look after yourself and if going to bed early helps then do it!
December is so fun, spendy and sociable and then I feel like a depression hits in January. I want to ‘batten down the gatches’ So to speak. I hate spending money in January. Hate going out. The weather is awful, it’s dark, every year I want to hibernate thru January.Mortgage free wannabee 2022 #820 -
Morning guys
12 more hours and then I am free for another 7 days :j
Given I will be working for 12 hours I suspect I'm not going to get through a lot! But for what it's worth...
* quick shower
* put lunch together. Just need to make roll, throw some salad in a pot and put bits in my bag
* check onepoll
* wrap my last 2 presents
* take another look at my sock and decide if I can save it or if I'll unravel it and start again - think I'll take it with me and decide in the cold light of day!
* update expenses as driving to the other office which is 32 miles away
* bath, book, glass of bubbly and bed
That's all I can think of! Hope you're all having a lovely festive Sunday xDF as at 30/12/16

Morning determined and all who follow :hello:
DH working overtime today so Im up already. We had a great night last night with some wonderful friends but was a late night, so I've sent one small back to bed. They need some sleep.
My list for today:
Couple of loads of washing, including a bed set
Didn't make picnic yesterday so will do this morning
Vacuum stairs
Make rocky road
Don't eat rocky road
Cut up quiche I made yesterday
cheap porridge for breakfast
See if there is anything else to add to my monthly bullet journal for next year. I've already made a note that I don't need any Christmas paper or generic cards since my sort out yesterday of a couple of bags of cards. Found some cards I was sent from pre 2002  all sorted, ones suitable for rage, front cut off, rest recycled.
Something out of freezer for tea. Thinking something very not festive, like burger and chips :rotfl:
Have a great day everyone. Purps.0 -
CLF that's a nuisance so close to Christmas with the microwave. I remember mine suddenly dying in the summer after it suddenly started to spark.
My blooming curry with tweaks was better yesterday but I think that is because it was allowed time for the spices to blend. Also managed to pop 2 meals with rice into the freezer-one only lasted a couple of hours in the freezer when DD had whipped it out to have a snack. That smelt even nicer.
I forgot to pull the gammon out of the freezer ready to cook so that is out now.
Not a great nights sleep. Usually have a once a year trip out with bestie but glad that we're not doing it this year I wouldn't last.
Do plan to wash pet bedding today and give the floor a wipe under my bed. Noticed bits of paper where youngest cat has kept attacking my wrapping paper.
Visit to besties tonight to take the presents which I'm looking forward to.
Right off for another cuppa
Have a great day everyone xDecluttering challenge 2023🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I had to buy a new microwave a couple of weeks ago CLF. Annoying, isn't it?
I was a tad confused this morning when I made my porridge but remembered it can be done on the hob
For about 5 seconds I considered not replacing it (since when did decent microwaves get so expensive?!) but we reheat so many left over bits and bobs, it's used every day in our house. I will wait for the January sales though. I know what our Christmas money will go on!!LBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.310 -
Morning folks!
After my busy day, I sat down about 5.30 with a nice beer and the Muppet Christmas Carol. Had a very nice relaxing evening, and even started to nod off about half 7 on the couch (unheard of).
Of course, when I went to bed, I was hot and horrible and couldn't sleep so I'm a bit muzzy this morning
Today's mission:- B/L/D from stores all days! (we are trying to be a bit frugal this month as Jan/Feb very bad for OH's work and he is self employed. No work - no money!) - done yesterday and on course for today!
- Wash bottles and put into new box - not happening
- Put away giant mound of washing (again!!) - done
- Strip and remake the bed -
- Make mince pies - not happening
- Tidy house for Christmas
- Wrap OH's presents - done
- Wrap rest of family presents
- Research replacement greenhouse connectors
- Make a loaf - done
- OH gigging tonight - done
- Make HM choccies for MIL and neighbours - almost done
- Go and pick some mistletoe - unlikely to do this d/t time and weather constraints
- Finish MIL's Christmas card (very complicated crafty make from OH's imagination but that I have to realise! - my bit is done
- MORE !!!!!!!G WASHING

I got one in Sainsburys for £55. It is fine for warming things up, which is mostly what we use it for. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles that the pricier ones have, but then I wouldn't use them anyway
. Fortunately I had enough nectar points saved up to pay most of it
Been out to a market early this morning, but failed to get all the items I intended to, as they didn't have them
So followed up with a trip to Sainsbugs, which was manic  but got the items on my list. I walked with my trolley to avoid the traffic and hassle of parking, and was glad I did, as the car park was jammed.
OH has processed some pheasants he brought back yesterday, and I managed to get the half lamb that he also brought back into the freezer, apart from one half shoulder joint which I will cook later.
Other than that, I must read the meters and enter the readings on the energy company's web site, pay the milkman and update my spending diary.
Donated to a justgiving appeal for the young family who were run over on a pedestrian crossing near me yesterday
The children are ok apparently, but poor mum will be in hospital all over Christmas and beyond, and dad will have to take time off work to look after the kids, the youngest of whom is only 6 months old
The local appeal is for a new pram for the baby, as his was destroyed in the accident, and towards petrol money for the family to visit the mother in hospital, as it is more than 30 miles away. I hope the insurance of the driver who hit them pays up promptly, but if the local appeal can help out in the immediate term, that is at least something! 0 -

How awful
I'm glad no one was killed. There was a poor chap who was run over in a town near us a couple of days ago and he died

Is it a digital one? I don't need anything too fancy and £50-ish sounds right. I just need to make sure that we can time things relatively accurately. The manual dial ones I've had aren't always very good over the last minute or so. I don't want OH's porridge boiling over every day!LBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.310
