  • Evening everyone :hello:
School is done! For a couple of weeks anyway. Managed a couple of free food items at work - the Head put bacon sarnies on for staff breakfast and there was a lot of left over party food, which I've brought home so no cooking or food prep required tonight.
I finished at lunch time today, but ds was in for a full day, so I had a couple of hours to wrap presents while both kids were still at school. I think I've wrapped everything, and I'm not expecting any more parcels or anything so I might be just about ready to go. There will need to be a big clean up over the weekend, and then Christmas may commence...
However, tonight is about resting and relaxing and having a well deserved glass of fizz I think.

    Solstice Blessings to all.
    Today's money saving efforts:
*Final food shop until after Christmas. We are within budget.
*2 good bargains today - a net of yellow sticker garlic bulbs for 10p & a pack of very meaty looking lamb bones for 62p, which will make a nice soup in the new year.
*Baked sausage rolls, mini cheese & onion rolls & savoury biscuits.
*Checked online banking to make sure ebay earnings had transferred from Paypal.
*mr f secured a refund from city council for a parking meter card payment which was taken 3 times.
*Batch cooked pasta sauce from freezer for a quick cheapo meal & also freed up some freezer space ready for all the stuff I shall be making from our turkey leftovers next week.
*Use-it-up going well - almost every last scrap of a lippy now used with a lip brush to get it out, showergel bottle shaken up with a bit of water to get a final use & mascara tube popped in mug of hot water to soften it sufficiently to use.
*Refused Cat the 2nd dinner he was asking for. He had to make do with a cheese & onion crisp instead.
*mr f had forgottem he had Ipsos points & cashed them in for a £10 voucher.
Early start tomorrow & a long drive, so intend to do sweet b*gger all tonight.

  • Morning all :hello:

We’re planning a relaxing day today albeit we’re out tonight but tickets were kindly gifted by a dear friend and I’ll smuggle in some snacks :D some other jobs to do:

Submit mine and DH tax return, done all the entries just need to press the button :o
    Check bank
Make picnic for tomorrow when we’re are out
Make some things to get ahead for Monday and Tuesday
    Vacuum through
    Change 1 bed
Have tea before we go so we’re not hungry out later, will make something with leftovers
Talk to DH about jobs we need to do between now and new year. Yesterday he cleaned outside and jet washed the patio :D I feel a list coming on :rotfl:
Bought a gift for someone in the sales yesterday, must start my 2019 ‘presents I’ve bought’ list :o

Have a good day everyone. Purps.
  • Went with DD to M@rrisins last night for any last bits. Spent more than I wanted but still within budget after updating spends book and should last us well into the new year. The staff couldn't restock quick enough, talking to one staff member i knew who said it had been horrendous all day. We went last night at 7.30pm and could leisurely move around the aisles........I don't do crowds

With veg glut have been trying out some new slow cooker recipes:D. Some fine tuning needs doing, bought some chicken to add and change the curry I made last night but will have produced 6/7 meals in all. So doing foxgloves cook once, eat twice and then there will also be enough for a meal for the freezer aswell. DD is just happy she isn't having to cook even if it means being experimented on:rotfl::rotfl:!!

CCL I was doing a countdown until Friday for u when reading the thread. I don't know how u lasted esp when the kids get all hyped up. Sis in law is a teacher and she was doing exactly the same countdown.

DD has been busily wrapping all of her presents with her cat . I just see her bobbing in and out of her room with having the occasional photo sent to me of the cat. Good old technology even though she is only in the next room:D

DD wanted to go back to the garden centre as she has forgotten to get something that formed part of a present. She then found out that the garden centre was doing 50% sale starting yesterday ( very early for them). I had some Christmas money and asked DD to pick me up a couple of items I liked only if they were in the sale, they were plus sent DD off with a £5 off voucher aswell. She ended up saving quite abit of money:T and the items she got, a couple I will keep out all year:)

I'm going to keep pottering today tidying the house and just enjoying the weekend. Friction has started within the family already:eek: so determined to enjoy the weekend.
Tomorrow we are visiting friends to drop presents off.
Everything is done so don't need to rush around and just enjoy things at a slow pace:T

Have a good Saturday everyone x

    Afternoon all :)
GD has been round to help me decorate the Christmas tree - I will need to move a few of the decorations as it is a bit lop sided :rotfl:Her mum took the baby out for a while to enable us to do it as baby clings to me all the time and makes it hard to do anything. While she was out she got caught up in a traffic jam caused by an accident on a pedestrian crossing :( Hope everyone is ok, but it did not sound good, lots of police, fire appliances and an air ambulance :(

Made mushroom soup for lunch for DD and I, must put the remaining portion in the fridge. GD and baby GS ate some of the gingerbread stars I made yesterday (not only those of course!)

OH out today, probably will have dinner out with the friend he is visiting. He will be bringing back half a lamb, so serious freezer tetris needed later
Sold an item on ebay, which I will need to get packed and sent off.
Need to get tidied up now the children have gone, and take the dog out.
  • Afternoon folks!

Busy busy busy here but all prep nearly complete. Went out into the garden today and found that the strong winds had bashed my greenhouse about and broken some of the plastic connectors. It has also taken down part of the fence.

Technically the fence is the LL's responsibility but i have a strong feeling that he will not replace or mend it so OH and I will do it at some point in January.

I had to nip to the local diy shop today for glittery pipe cleaners. I cannot be trusted in the shop. Not one bit. It is impossible for me to come out with only what I went in for. I also bought 2 Christmas cake toppers (only 50p each), a glue stick (required) and a set of beard baubles to put on OH (so worth it) :rotfl:

Also picked up the Christmas veggies. the carrots still had the tops and they were so fresh that I made carrot top pesto. I have frozen it for another day :)

Here's how the list looks now:
    • B/L/D from stores all days! (we are trying to be a bit frugal this month as Jan/Feb very bad for OH's work and he is self employed. No work - no money!) - done yesterday and on course for today!
    • Wash bottles and put into new box
    • Gym this morning - done.
    • Put away giant mound of washing (again!!)
    • Strip and remake the bed
    • Make mince pies
    • Wrap OH's presents
    • Wrap rest of family presents
    • Research replacement greenhouse connectors
    • Make a loaf
    • OH gigging tonight
    • Feed birds - done.
    • Wash the socks and scarves to dry for wrapping - in the machine now. Drying away.
    • Make HM choccies for MIL and neighbours
    • Go and pick some mistletoe - unlikely to do this d/t time and weather constraints
    • Finish MIL's Christmas card (very complicated crafty make from OH's imagination but that I have to realise! - my bit is done
    • Pick up turkey and veggies for Christmas - done. They look fab.
    Have a good day all

  • Oh dear. I started the choccies because I needed to make chocolate cases and I think the microwave is dying. It made a fizzing noise and there was a burning smell. I have turned it off at the plug and it will be going to the tip!

I had to buy a new microwave a couple of weeks ago CLF. Annoying, isn't it?
