Hi all, a very similar month for me to last month - savings of £345 plus my little mortgage overpayment of £6.12 :)

I'd also set aside £100 for some house work and promptly got a bill yesterday that will wipe that out :rotfl: Oh well, at least I was prepared.

Coming up for half way now - I wonder how the warmer weather will affect our savings

    Thank you Wanna Bee Free!

I'm very pleased to say that I've saved £900 in May, which is incredible for me and definitely reassuring whilst I'm going through redundancy!

Turns out I actually saved £992 thanks to interest made on one of my accounts! So pleased with that :)

Off-topic: does anyone know where tara747 has gone? I've noticed on the
totaliser spreadsheet going back to 2012
that tara is 1 of only 2 'ever present' savers from the very start (along with slowlyfading herself)
but she hasn't reported any savings yet this year, despite setting a target.
    Tara - please come back!

I noticed she is awol too and has not been in to even look under her userid since 14th Jan :(

  • My savings have been minimal again this month, but in other news I handed in my dissertation! My final essay is due on Monday, and the end of my degree seems to be coming up fast. I am just waiting on some invoices to be able to put in an expenses claim of over £300, which can then go into savings.

Getting there. I've had a much better month than last (I'm not sure why, can't be entirely down to lack of car repairs!?), which takes me to 59.2% of my annual target so far, with 41.7% of the year gone, putting me well on track.

Hope everyone else's savings are going well also!

    Reporting £608.35 for May.
Had a very good month of pay with a bunch of overtime which meant I’ve been able to completely replenish savings I spent booking a holiday for later in the year.
So actually managed over a grand this month.

    Keep going everyone!!
    12K in 2019 Challenge #77 = £779.35 / £6,000 = 12.9%

this is the 7th year I’ve been meaning to ask this so I’m finally getting round to it...

As I understand it this started in 2012 and at the time I assumed the 12k was selected because the year was 20...12. Since anyone could save any amount they wished.

So I thought in the years that followed it’d be save 13k, save 14k so on & so forth .... or any amount you wish (but the title would relate to the year).

So what is it about 12k that stuck?
Initially it was going to do that - go up with the years. However, I had quite a few messages from people saying that saving £13k a year would seem impossible, so I kept it at £12,000 so it's an even £1000 per month. No other reason really!
