Slowlyfading, thanks for all your work on our updates - it's very much appreciated.
Number 12 reporting in with a very pleasing £1915 for May, which includes a one-off extra £700 which is good news. I'm up to a total of £7k saved so far this year. Form submitted.
Alja, sorry to hear about your redundancy - good luck with finding your great new role!
LauraBabs, good luck with your overhaul, sounds like you are on a mission!0 -
Thank you Wanna Bee Free!
I'm very pleased to say that I've saved £900 in May, which is incredible for me and definitely reassuring whilst I'm going through redundancy!0 -
Despite having spent a ridiculous amount this month when I was planning on spending nothing, I can declare £1,715.63 thanks to a matured regular saver and a LISA bonus.
Hopefully I will be better at spending less next month.Start mortgage date: August 2022; Start mortgage amount: £240,999; Original mortgage free date: August 2056
Current mortgage amount: £226,957.97
Start student loan 2012: £29,750; current student loan: CLEARED July 20250 -
Morning, number 88 reporting in for May. £45,716.46. Redundancy payoff minus enough to live on for the rest of the year (fingers crossed!). Quite happy to take the summer at least, off so timing is just fine, maybe even take early retirement and look for something part time without the hassle of commuting and the exceptionally long hours. Guessing my numbers will be down to minimal amounts for the rest of the year but just cannot stop smiling!
Well done to all so far impressive numbers and storiesSave 12k in 2020 #19 £12,429.06/£14,0000 -
this is the 7th year I’ve been meaning to ask this so I’m finally getting round to it...
As I understand it this started in 2012 and at the time I assumed the 12k was selected because the year was 20...12. Since anyone could save any amount they wished.
So I thought in the years that followed it’d be save 13k, save 14k so on & so forth .... or any amount you wish (but the title would relate to the year).
So what is it about 12k that stuck?0 -

Hi everyone, Not too much to report this month: the dog had a vet bill so I'm hoping she's on the mend now and won't need a return visit, we had a credit card bill from our last holiday to pay off, we've signed-up to a VPN as I'm increasingly aware of cyber-security risks, and had a rare night out as no.2 son was starring in a play. So I'm reporting £2062.94 for May.
Off-topic: does anyone know where tara747 has gone? I've noticed on the
totaliser spreadsheet going back to 2012
that tara is 1 of only 2 'ever present' savers from the very start (along with slowlyfading herself)
but she hasn't reported any savings yet this year, despite setting a target.
Tara - please come back!Save 12k in 2013-2014-2015-2016-2017-2018-2019-2020-2021-2022 - then early-retired.0 -
I'm reporting in with £240.29 for May, have updated the sheet. Hoping to start increasing savings now for rest of year.Spend less now, work less later.0
