i know the initial outlay isn't the cheapest but in the long term its great-on the phones 4 u website get a free samsung phone on vodafone wih about 600mins month and 250 texts for £40 for the WHOLE YEAR! It's £40 a month on a 12 month contract but with 11months cashback by redemption!!!which the bloke from phones 4 u said is guarenteed cuz its part of their contract with you. ALSO you get 3 month FREE insurance which is £5.99 a month thereafter (usually £7.99 a month) which you can cancel at anytime e.g. as soon as the free period is up!!
  • At the end of my £30 pm contract with O2 I phoned them up wanting to go to PAYG with my existing mobile, the call centre is desperate to keep people on contract so it was easy to negotiate a new plan, £9.99pm for 200mins and 400texts. That is much cheaper than any advertised plan, it is only available through the call centre.

Because the plan is part of the O2 'Simplicity' range there is no long term contract, it is repeated month-long contracts.

What do people think if I start a thread with the title

    "Pay Monthly deals: August 2008"

where people could keep the good deals in one place rather than have separate threads.
I guess this sticky was meant for that but people don't really use it, they start new ones

Edit: I'm going to do it, if people don't like it they won't post and it'll get lost

I am off to find the thread August 200 but first does anyone know the name of the site where you can put your postcode in and it tells you about mobile signal strength/coverage as where my Mum lives she doesn't have any signal from her Toucan (t-mobile) line and she has been paying for it and not able to use it so I want to help switch her!??
Green and minimal chemicals is the new black- I know a fair old bit about sustainability, specially energy and transport stuff. If I can help- please ask!
  • Hi,

On Phones4U webiste I found a really good deal for Samsung phone on O2 18months contract for 400 minutes and 500 texts. Normally £30 pm but is with cashback offer of 16 months free. It works out only £3.33 pm effective.

Just want to know how good Phones4U are when giving the cashback money cheque within time period. I am with onestopphoneshop now and had no problem in receiving my cashback cheques.

I'm looking for a cheap contact will 300+ minutes to any network. I'm currently on O2 18-month retention offer £17.49pcm for 500mins+100texts+rollover with a credit of £100 for keeping my old phone, total cost (18*17.49)-100=214.82, = £11.93pcm.

O2 repeat offers are poor, a quick look around on Quidco showed Vodaphone offering £90 cashback on new contracts. I checked it out, I could have a Samsung Tocco for £30pcm on an 18-month contract 600mins+unlimited texts, first 3-months are £15, I don't need the phone, but they sell for £200-£250 on ebay. So if I sell the phone, total cost = 18*30=£540, minus £45(1st 3-months discount) minus £90(quidco cashback) minus £240 by selling phone, total cost = 540-45-90-240=£165, /18=£9.16pcm.

Can any money saving experts point out better offers, or a deal that wouldn't involve the hassle of selling a phone on ebay? or the risk of cashback, at least 300+mins+100texts
  • I'm wondering if anyone has used 'beepy' for getting contracts online or heard anything about them. Looking for a contract for my boyfriends dad and dont want to spend over £15 LR. They have the phone he wants and £20 upfront cash back, but just want to know if they are an alright site to use. Any help would be appreciated

I need a new mobile phone, urgently, as we are going on holiday next week. The battery in my current mobile will not keep its charge for more than 24 hours.

I use pay and go with o2 (best coverage in our area) so need something that will take my sim card.

OH has one of those £10 mobiles but he never uses text! I need something a little more sophisticated but not very expensive as I rarely use it.

Any suggestions/recommendations would be gratefully received.

    Thanks for this.......

Didn't want the free phone so it went onto Ebay and sold for £42....

    Therefore 18 x £30 = £540 less cashback £480 = £60 Less £42 = £18

So £18 will get me 18 months with 400 mins and 500 texts.

    That's £1 per month :j

    Thanks valsad
