This partly depends on whether you want a new handset or not, as you'll get cheaper monthly rental, potentially more minutes and texts, on a Sim only deal. This would mean using an existing phone, or buying a cheap one to do this with. If the phone's on a different network it may need unlocking, so that it will accept the Sim card.
Some examples of Simonly pricing now - October 2008 - includes 600 minutes and unlimited texts from Vodafone for £20 per month - see their options here:http://shop.vodafone.co.uk/mobile-phones/sim-only/pay-monthly/
O2 were doing an equivalent 600 mins/unlimited texts to 30th Sept, and it's still showing on their website, but may no longer be available.

The beauty of these tariffs is that you don't have to stay in a long contract, with typically a months notice.
Edit your post if you'd like a phone too, and this will help us guide you to a good tariff/offer.
Hope this helps. Good luck! Rob0 -
Until recently I had a contract flext 25 plus web and walk) t-mobile vario until it went in for repair. Over the preceding couple of months the charger socket had worked loose and they have said that it was my doing and thus won't repair it or replace it. My contract runs out in January so I am after a cheap t-mobile phone (or is unlocking really easy?) that ideally has an mp3 player, phone and can access the internet (I'm on a web and walk tariff). If it doesn't have these features never mind, they are a wish list not a pre-requisite. I don't want to spend a load of money on a phone that is likely to be replaced when I leave t-mobile in January.
Thanks in anticipation of your help.0 -
We've got 4 mobile phones in our family - 2 on Tesco PAYG, 1 on Orange PAYG (will switch to Tesco when credits run out) and 1 on Orange contract - nearly expired. Are there any good deals - either contract or PAYG where we could get a family group offer with free or really cheap calls to each other and a free texts allowance between us per month?
BTW, those of us with Tesco already use the half price favourite numbers option to call the others.
All help appreciated!

That's exactly what I did. After the first 12 (or 18?) months on T-Mobile Flext they offered me a tenner off my £18/month contract if I didn't take a new phone. This time around I signed up online for another 18 months without taking a new phone and the lovely automated system gave me a fiver off so I'm down to £3/month.0

Just bought a PAYG mobile from ASDA but having a bit of bother finding a retailer that will accept my top up card. Have been to both Morrisons and Tesco and the card wouldn't work in their machines.
As don't really live near an ASDA, anybody know a retailer that will accept this?
Thanks0 -
I find the flext tariff useful as it allows you to use your allowance on on texts or calls.
However one thing really annoys me - the extortionate rates mobile networks charge for 0800, 0870 and 0845 numbers. Has anyone researched which network charges the least for these numbers?

ps appologies if this has been answered/asked elsewhere0 -
Hi
I have trawled the sites looking for a samsung Tocco for my lad. My limit is £25/mth as I would want to take out insurance costing about £6/mth. I have seen one which works out at £21.67/mth (not including insurance) for 400mins and 500 texts, but it is with redemption which I would rather not do! Can anyone beat this or find me a deal where I dont have to redeem?
(ps he also wouldnt mind a sony ericsson 902 !!)
thanks in advance0
