  • I am trying to find the cheapest way to enable around 10 members of staff of a charity to be able to ring the office, and to a lesser extent each other, and perhaps one other number each.

Would Vodaphone Family work for us - could we organise two separate packages with 6 people in each group?

Also - can anyone recommend good value handsets to get for new members of staff?

    Hi.

We are first-time organisers of a series of Folk events in London (I would say what they are but I'm not sure I'm allowed to on this thread!) and we want to be able to give a mobile number which when people phone it will have a recorded message giving up-to-date info on where to get tickets etc.

So basically we just need a very very cheap mobile with the cheapest possible sim card.

No idea where to start, can anybody help? It's time-critical as I need to make copy deadlines.

    Thanks!

my contract runs out at the end of April. I've requested the PAC code from 3, which i've received by txt. I was expecting them to call after a few days, where we'd then go thru the procedure of "why are you leaving, you can stay for £15, etc, etc" followed by another call whereby they would offer £5 per month 500mins 100 texts plus nokia 6288 (this is what happened when my dads contract finished around xmas).

However, the £5/month call never arrived!! I called them again today saying that i was def going to leave. Basically they said they are sorry to hear that, but there was no way they could offer a £5/month or even £10/month deal.

Could it be that these low cost deals really have come to an end?? I really did try to get the best deal possible, was on the phone to 3 for over 30mins but they wouldn't budge!!

Maybe they only offer these deals to customers who have been with them for a long time(I have been 6 years). Anyway only yesterday they offered me £10 for 500 mins and 100 txts. Also they are calling me not the other way around. They reckon they can offer only a limited amount of customers this deal. I will make up my mind tomorrow.
    Thanks Mark

well as peer the my view
i think the sim-free mobile is the better option in place of the contract mobile
well why i like sim free ve'coze in that the mobile is already unlocked you can use any sim & any time
my friend has a problem of the network & his mobile is unlocked so whenver the other want to contact them or call them every time the same message come that his out of the coverage

After reading about getting the best phone deal, I figured it was best for me to move from an Orange contract (my contract had expired) to PAYG. However, after I called the disconnections people at Orange to ask for my PAC code (which enables you to port my phone number to another network), I was offered a deal to stay with Orange on an 18 month contract. Here's the deal I accepted:

    - 400 minutes a month
    - 100 texts
    - Continued free broadband
    - £13 a month (or without broadband for just £8 a month!)
    - Free Nokia 6300, which is perfectly adequate (a friend of mine had his N95 nicked out of his hands(!), so I'm happy staying with the less attractive basic models.

Important note - when your Orange contract nears expiry you'll be offered a new phone and perhaps a slightly better package. Don't take it. Wait until the contract actually expires and then call the 'Disconnections' team. See if they can match the offer you are after, and remember that you can always keep (port) your number to a different provider.
