  • I currently pay (as a loyal custumer!) £4 a month for 300 txts, 300 mins and unlimited internet (free booster). Bargain!!! This is with T-mobile, first time I've ever actually seen loyalty pay off - though its not really loyalty, I would have left if they weren't the cheapest ;)

With T Mobile, I said I didn't really want a new phone - perfectly happy with what I had. With their Flex T rates they gave me an annual (12 month) price of £48 for the last couple of years - in 2006 they increased it a massive 25% to £60! And this was done in the shop, too.

My daughter who spends thousands a year it seems now hands over her old phone to me at the end of her year - so I get a great phone and a superb price.

nice, i called this morning and got my pac code and within 30 minutes recieved a call back. After a few minutes of talk I ended up with what I currently have which costs me £20 now with 300 minutes, unlimited texts and 3gb data for just £5 per month on a 12 month contract using my good old htc desire..

Virgin are doing a similar thing! my wife was on a rolling 30 day contract, for the last 12 months at £12.26 p.m. when i phoned up to cancel they offered 600min 3000 texts 3000 mins to other Virgin phones and 1gb internet all for just £5.32 i had to ask the guy to repeat it!

Oh he also told me that Orange signal will be shared with Virgin from Sept 26th
never put off buying a bargain today,it may be gone tomorrow
  • jon Thanks for the info on the Orange signal, it is badly needed in my area. I pay £5 pm for Virgin Mobile with 100 mins and unlimited texts, not as good as yours but good enough forwhat I want, but who knows when i can get a signal, I may use it more. :-)
  • not the cheapest perhaps but a good deal - in store at tescos today was an unlocked samsung phone (gte1080i) for £9.97. Don't need to buy a top up or anything, but you can chose a free simcard to go with it if you want. :-)
  • Hi
I followed Martin's guide to getting a good contract deal and went to moneysupermarket.com's comparison tool. For the phone I want (Sony Ericsson Eperia Mini Pro) for an 18-month contract I see prices as low as £8.97 per month!
When I looked into it more closely, this depends on '£390 cashback by multiple redemptions'.
    Suppliers are:
    affordablemobiles.co.uk
    buymobilephones.net

Anyone have experience of using these suppliers or this kind of deal? Does it work, or do you have to send in a claim at odd times/dates (in the hope you'll forget)?

Just search the board for 'affordablemobiles' or 'buymobilephones'.

Why 'or'? It does work and you have to send multiple claims.

However, these companies are not the most reliable around. See this recent thread: Bargain Contract Sites

I have been with buymobilephones.net for the last 15 months on a redemption contract (18 month Tmobile contract with 15 months free by redemption). My redemption vouchers came through fine and I had to redeem within 60 days of the end of each billing period - I think it was every 4 months for a bit then every 3 months after that.

They have paid up for each voucher so far, and I'm just about to send off the last one - sometimes it has taken them a few weeks to pay up, but the money has always come. I don't know if this is universally the case, there may well be others for whom this hasn't happened.

As a tip, I used the free phone I got with the contract as a means of setting reminders to send off the vouchers, and ensure it actually remained free :)

Also worth mentioning, when I was shopping around I did see other sites offering similar discounts but slightly better value (e.g. 16 months free). The reason I went with buymobilephones.net is because I know someone who went with them way back in about 2004. One of my big concerns about a deal using redemption is that you rely on the firm not going bust during your contract, so the fact that they've been around for a while gave me a bit more reassurance compared to other companies that were new and could be slightly more risky.

    I'm afraid I don't know anything about affordablemobiles.co.uk

    Hope that helps,

  • Thanks TDot

Like all of us I'm keen to get a deal, but don't want to get into something that leaves me looking/feeling foolish!

The best I've been able to do with my current supplier (Orange) is get them down to around £15 per month, although they've added in lots of extras that I don't need. On a cashback site I can get the same phone and core deal for around £8.50. Over 18 months that is £117 saving, which is worth having.

But it would be a lot easier to stay where I am...

  • Just cancelled my 4s order with three.......

    Re-ordered via Quidco - cashback £115! Amazing!

    £279 up front - £115 cashback = £164 + £35/month 24 month contract White 64gb iPhone 4S.
