    Muchas gracias a ti applemuncher!!

NSDs on 8 now. Probably won’t make 20 but going to try my best.

ORGANISE I have had the busiest week. I get up at 5:30 as usual (usually to lesson plan before starting work at 8) but I have been utilising this time for Spanish learning now, which means I need to lesson plan at the weekends or evenings (prefer weekends) I have realised a number of time saving things that I need to start doing if this arrangement is going to work long term. For example, batch cooking at weekend, using dry shampoo instead of washing hair every 2 days, choosing clothes the night before (thanks Mothernerd for the hanger tip1!!)

VALUES Bites of elephant: Yesterday achieved 2.5 hours of Spanish study/conversation, today 2. Tomorrow should be better.

ENJOY really enjoying planning the weekends in my head. haha

BUDGETS My "month end" for budgeting is approaching and I have underspent by €10 or so. Very happy with that. So my total expenditure for food and fun this month has been €250.

EXERCISE walked to and from dentist today quickly as I was going to be late and sweating buckets, then had to wait 20min to be seen (typical españa)

    RULES - doing ok.

NO takeaways etc - None today.

EVERYONE - can’t wait for pay day (friday for me) to start chipping away at this debt!!!

YOU should cook from scratch. Made 3 bean chilli yesterday to have for dinner today

REPORT Trying to do better with that!

KINDNESS I have a lovely, lovely student who is hearing impaired, he makes so much effort and always thanks me for being patient with him, (I suppose he thinks he is a pain to teach) but quite honestly I enjoy teaching him the most out of everyone, very grateful for his existence... as cheesy as it sounds.

Haven't checked in for a few days sorry all!
Been such a hectic week so far but as of yesterday I had done 13 no spend days in a row and then we had a 4 hour power cut and I wanted a hot dinner so went to the chip shop and spent £3, quite sad not to have managed a longer streak but it really was unavoidable. Been really exhausted with work lately as I have so much going on, but I did another NSD today so 13/14 days so far.

Been doing really well on Prolific Academic with surveys lately, highly recommend it, seems like all of the academics are back and have money to spend, cashed out with £27 this morning :D

Managed to go a new yoga class last night which was harder than my usual but I did alright, very proud of myself. Need an early night tonight and top regroup and focus on self care.

    Take care everyone!
  • Big elephant to tackle tomorrow, paperwork (boo hiss), did sort out paperwork in connection to girls today just ours to do tomorrow.

NST will aim for 15. 7/15

ORGANISE your time. Will try and find a balance between studying, household chores, family time and me time.done some studying (not alot but abit)households chores (house is clean for now, but not sure how long it will last as the rest of them are back) and family time ( FIL came over to help me and I helped him by letting him offload over several family issues) today

VALUES. Ultimate goal is to continue to OP the mortgage but to keep in mind ethical, environmental and family values.

ENJOY yourself. Try and do something everyday that I enjoy. Enjoyed de-cluttering my wardrobe and I now have a large bag to take to the cs

MAKE an inventory of the food in your cupboards, fridge and freezer at the start of the month. Meal plan and shop from the cupboards, freezers and allotments first before visiting supermarkets. Meal plan done and shopping done

BUDGETS should be set before the start of the month. Already done will log spends on here and look at, at the end of the month. Will aim to buy something for the food bank every week

EXERCISE will aim to walk for an hour everyday with the dog.walked and litter picked for an hour with the dog. Walked my old jogging route, so glad DH has taken over running with DD1

IN case of emergency Add any items you might need (torch, shovel for snow, old carpet for traction, extra coat or blanket) to your car boot. If you don't belong to a breakdown organisation, make sure you have phone numbers for friends or relatives who might come and help you. Make sure you and your children can be seen if walking or cycling. still need to sort the cars. think snow will have to fall before this gets done

NOW is always the right time to start.will aim to have more faith in myself.'I can do maths' needs to become my mantra this week (i hate maths)

NO takeaways, coffee shops, vending machines, canteens unless for a special event. Take your own food and drinks to work, hospital appointments and days out where possible. None bought today

EVERYONE should know their debt free date continuing to pay bank of mum (Nov 2019) and OP the mortgage (another 17 and half years).First SO sent to saving account that I'm going to use to offset DD1 uni set up (key deposits etc) costs in 2020

WINTER proof your home, if you haven't already done so. Need to hang new thicker curtains in dining room- still on the list.

YOU should cook from scratch when you can (unless time is short or it costs more to make) and batch cook. Will aim to do this at least 5 days out of 7. 5/5 Homemade beetroot and onion pizza with wedges
OUTSIDE It may be cold but wrap up warm and make the most of the available light - it will help your immune system and your mental health see exercise

    REPORT i'm here

KINDNESS costs nothing. Everyone you meet is carrying some sort of burden, so try to be kind, especially to yourself.Encouraged Mr senior cross rabbit off load over several family issues

    Evening all

No NSD today but was planned. Had to pay for travel to a trustee meeting, no other spends though. Just en route home now. Walked to the gym and back and did a class which was difficult! Also got a good chunk of studying done. It's the last few days of freedom before I start my new job so just need to crack on and get some extra studying done so that I can relax a bit next week.

Also decided to go to Ikea this weekend to at least try some mattresses out. Yet another cr*p sleep last night.
  • Evening all.

It's my besties birthday today, so she came round and we played Gears of War, a game we've been meaning to play for months.
The day was marred however, by finding out bf has been messaging other women on a dating website. Stupid berk sent my friends (grown up) daughter a message and she recognised his pic and they let me know.

I'm still reeling a little, he says it was only messages and it would have gone no further, but he knows my feelings on cheating. Especially as my previous relationship ended as I was cheated on. I just feel so betrayed.
I think if we wern't both tied up in this mortgage I'd have left straight away. I had a brief look at flats to let, but neither of us can afford to pay the rent on top of mortgage, and the house needs work doing if we were going to sell.

    Day 14 (belated)

Time to declutter (yes again, thought this was a 'good' way to look at it)
The lagom home is a calm tidy space with minimal clutter (clever storage to house the things you want to keep)

Having a tidy home is important for general happiness and well-being; clear surfaces and a designated place for everything is calming - you know where things are and don't need to hunt.

    Clothes
We have all done the do I love it?, do I wear it but how about?
Does it project the image I want to project?
    Does it itch or scratch?

Can I actually move in it comfortably?

    Clothes you are keeping
Good hangers mean less crumpling and no ironing (Greent exempt)
Hang items that go together on one hanger, so you have a whole outfit and don't look as though you got dressed in the dark.

In the days when I had a magazine subscription I once read that over 90% of mothers of young children had an all black or all navy/denim wardrobe - that's because we all stumble about in the dark at 5am, trying not to wake anyone else and hope things go together in daylight.

Day 15 Inspiration (I've missed out water conservation, pallet furniture and diy bits like making a tote bag out of an old t-shirt - old t-shirts make excellent cleaning/ dusting cloths and are better for the environment than paper towels. Quicker and easier than putting a t-shirt on one side hoping you get to make the tote bag one day. Also some things only look 'meant' on the young - some of us are trying not to look like bag ladies.)

    Clever storage

If you have old wire coathangers, they can be bent into shoe hangers (like the plastic ones in shoe shops) if you want/ have room to hang your shoes up.

Kondo folding clothes such as t-shirts in drawers means they can be easily seen and pulled out without disturbing your other clothes.

Stick a line of velcro (rough side out) to your children's bedroom wall and put all their fluffy or felted toys on it (not sure about this one but then I used to apologise when I was hanging them on the line after washing)

Store duvet and matching pillowcases together.

Encourage your children to put their toys away at night (have a box for each child). If you put some toys away and rotate those in use (swap over when they are bored) so they re-engage with toys they have (this works - I used to store toys in a large chest of drawers and swap them from time to time).

Day 16 (in advance) Will leave some for over the weekend tomorrow.

    Sustainable shopping:
    Can I live without it?
Will I wear it/ use it? If so, where and when?
Can I afford it? Would I prefer to have the money in my account or this item in my house? (remember we pay for things in hours of our time - if you really want to scare yourself, work out your hourly rate after taxation, include the hours commuting before dividing. When you know your true hourly rate, work out how many hours it takes to buy a particular item).

Have I got space for it? (and what will it cost in maintainance)

Have a one in, one out system.

If you are not sure sleep on it (better still wait 3 days before purchasing)
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.

Raphael- I am so sorry to hear about that, don't do anything rash either way. Take care of yourself xx
  • Raphael sorry to hear your OH is being an eejit. Is he planning to do anything other than justify his actions? It's tough that you feel stuck with the house situation :(

Not much to report here, gobbled a couple of frogs yesterday and need to do the same today.
