f0xh0les - well done to you for going and collecting dh. I had to walk 20 kiddies back to school for 20 mins in the pelting rain yesterday- however, they loved it, especially the deep puddles and the waves of water whooshing over the pavement from passing vehicles...!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

Got given a box of Roses yesterday for a kindness I did an acquaintance - discretion being the better part of valour and all that, I did not mention the whole vegan thing, just graciously accepted, said my thanks, and will recycle / donate to foodbank.
I am touched they bought me anything tbh, and someone else will get to enjoy it. So their kindness will touch more than one person.
The kids and DH were unimpressed though! Graceless fools. It would only have embarrassed the lady, and made me look ungreatful. Did I do right? I think so, but it has started a debate in the household.
100% you did the right thing with the Roses. The lady was not to know and it's the thought behind the gift not the gift itself that counts. Last year DH and I received a selection of chocolate covered nuts and biscuits for Christmas from some good friends we have dined with many times and know well. He's allergic to nuts and I'm coeliac! I just passed them on to someone else.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%

I'm another one that uses kitchen scissors for cutting all sorts of things. Bacon, spring onions, chillies etc.
Today I finally got my flu and pneumonia jabs. One frog eaten. I hate needles.
Frog number 2 - Tidied another freezer drawer. It is almost entirely full of cooked chicken. I don't know what I'm going to do with it all.
After jabs we had a walk to the shops. I thought we had stuck to the few things we needed and which were on the list until I discovered two packets of chocolate biscuits hidden under the bread when I got to the checkout. It is only £1.50 but the point is they weren't needed. The house is already awash in chocolate. I think I'm going to have to tie his hands together.
Plodding along with the one extra job a day.
On a brighter note my Christmas cactus is starting to flower, my winter pansies are in full bloom and my fuchsias are are flowering and still have buds to open.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -
f0xh0les - another vote here that you did exactly the right thing. (We're not vegan and I would have donated them because no one in this house likes Roses!
) She's not made to feel awkward/ embarrassed unnecessarily and you weren't expecting anything, I guess, so no loss there - and someone in need gets a treat from the foodbank. Win:win:win!!
Tonisfriend - sounds like my OH - he picks up unnecessary sweet treats all the time.... grrrr. Another one here who uses scissors for bacon and pizza. Foxholes I've been put in the same situation as you, I can't eat chocolate or eat wheat and the amount of stuff I've had to give away is huge. I always feel really guilty as they have spent time/effort/money on something to say thank you. I've also been given these presents by family members who should know better:rotfl:.
Fingers crossed for your dh Coxy11.

Today I am grateful for a quick chat with dd's Head, for permission to sort out their lost property box again, for doing some online training (deadline is Friday), for a colleague checking over a document I'd written up, for cheerful work colleagues, for more online training which showed me how much I do already know about it, for dh prepping tea, for making awesome (according to dd) vanilla biscs, choc biscs and banana loaf, for getting and dropping off feminine hygiene stuff to the foodback, for lots of walking.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

NSDs: 7/15. Was tempted to treat myself to chocolate from vending machine today, then remembered 1. I have overspent this week’s budget by £18. 2. I want to not use the vending machine in November as part of this challenge. 3. I have a target number of NSDs I am trying to reach!
Winterproofing: Transferred ice-scraper from OH’s car to mine as neither of us can be bothered to search the bike shed for one of our many spares at the moment, I leave the house earlier when it is likely to be icier and I walked away from one in a shop earlier this week as it was a) £2 and b) it was a NSD for me!
Extra income: £189.10 includes earned through cash-back. I would like to reach £200 by the end of the month but there is v. little interest in those items I posted for sale online on Sunday. I will need to get round to advertising more valuable pieces that take a bit more effort.
Kindness: Ordered my nephew’s limited Santa gift today on behalf of my brother who lives in Euroland. I will handover delivery to brother on Saturday. Brother repaid me directly into my euro account which saved him delivery fees and currency transaction fees. This helps me out as I need to pay a bill using Euro before January. A win-win all round!
Am going to complete my taxes now! I consider this a kindness as my OH wont have to ask me again!!
Eat those frogs:
Must complete taxes tonight, so close but not there yet!
Advertise 4 items for sale online.
Good luck all!IO BTL1 Mortgage was £97,693.54 on 09/08/18; £83,140 on 31/12/19.Sealed Pot Challenge 12: #078: £150.36
