Enjoy: Attended inspiring lecture by female sportswoman on her various feats.

Extra income: £189.10 to date. Exchanged Necta points for double voucher today.

Kindness: Work was generous and gave free freshly made wood-fired pizza and gelato today, colleague gave me a small food gift and I received a box of free out-of-season t-shirts for friend and I from the cycling company we sometimes work for. :j I broke NSD tonight to spend £2 on soft drinks for friend and I. Only people in the chat room with NSD targets would understand what a sacrifice this was! ;)

    Inspiration for the weekend

Lagom home - Reducing Food Waste

Meal planning buy only what you need - check for best dates
Aviod 'offers' that encourage you to buy more than you will use
Store food properly and keep things tidy so you can see what needs using up
    Eat before you go shopping
If you find you can't remember what you have and haven't got (you are usually looking for what isn't there) - try taking a photo of the inside of your fridge and cupboards as a reminder.
In season gluts can be frozen, dried, stored in a cool dark place or made into jam and chutney.

A Balanced Diet and Good Health
'Not too much and not too little' means eating a varied diet combined with regular exercise with a little treat every now and then.

Don't skip meals. Eat at regular intervals. 3 moderate meals are better than 2 large ones.

Find exercise that's right for you - something you enjoy.

    A Balanced mind
    Think positively
    Slow down
    Have a laugh
    Meditate

I will be catching a coach tomorrow morning and a ferry around 4pm, arriving at the hotel in the I-O-W at about 6.30pm. Only a short trip - Sunday will also be mostly travelling. I think I will relax once I have left the house - trying to do too many things.

Not feeling enthused about this, still dragging my feet on the packing. I am worried about going so far (we've stuck to neighbouring counties - Yorkshire, Lancashire, Cheshire and Merseyside so far) especially as my ankles are already aching.

Ah well we can rest when we get there. Have been tidying on and off all day - have found paper cups, my coin purse and the charger for my phone so I must be making progress. Have food and drinks to take for the journey and a book to read.

Took another book back to the library and carried on to Icyland for a food order - have decided to postpone the full defrost (may have a quick scrape to get some of the banked up ice off). Only bought a few things (they may have eaten them all by the tme I get back). As this stuff is used I will fill the freezer with cakes (some for the christmas fair next weekend) and bottles of tap water with a bit of lemon juice added.

More washing up. More rubbish out. May throw the bedding in the wash overnight.

Have a good weekend turtles (Hugs for x-raphael-x and all who are struggling) and I will see you all on Sunday evening (or Monday if I fall into bed when I get home).

  • Raphael, so sorry to read your posts. Take time to decide as it’s important and shock is still likely to be affecting you

Lauren, that sounds terrible, didn’t realise it was so bad.

Dolly, the pie is technically Cottage not Shepherd’s - is that still odd? It’s an old WW recipe.

A nsd here, I left my purse at home to be on the safe side. 4/15

I was kind to a stressedcolleague today, she texted this evening to let me know I helped.

Dinner from scratch. Would have got a takeaway if it wasn’t for this thread - thanks everyone!

    Good morning Turtles,

Raphael I hope you are doing okay.

Thanks to those who mentioned Hubs work, after a long chat we decided we want to stay with the plan. We only want him to stay in another 12 months. He's done 9 years he can grin & bear it.

Today is a spend day as I'm off to the cinema tonight so I'm on 11 still (free popcorn coupon though :D)
Getting up early to get ready for the day, hang some washing &etc.
My budget is about £50 still & it needs to last 2 weeks. Clearly I need to be careful but I just need to do one big shop friday next week to last me. Hub put his name down to do some driving for work on the 1st. He doesn't get paid but usually he gets tipped fairly generously & of course anything he gets will go towards the car. It meant bringing our anniversary meal forward but that doesn't matter.& it makes me feel better about eating out. We haven't been out together sinse our last anniversary though so it isn't like we do it often.
Last night I used the eggs as planned for tea & the apples I got free on my walk last week for an apple crumble, we had a small bag of frozen rhubarb too which I shoved in.
Beamish tomorrow for the Christmas event :j I only have another couple of days on my pass & that's the last of my annual passes gone :(

    Think that's all to report.

Have a good day all :o
  • Mothernerd: enjoy the break.

Raphael: only you can decide, but I'm glad you won't let the mortgage hold you bs k of you think it's the right thing to have a break. I agree that counselling might be a very good idea - does Relate offer anything in your area?

Foxholes: googly eyes make everything better.

Still have made no progress on Xmas other than starting DH's socks. Need to get the boys to think about what they want, but it's getting harder to find gifts they love which aren't ridiculously expensive! Ah well, we will get there.

Talk of crafting reminded me to check the dates of the annual Indie Design Giftalong on Ravelry - it runs from 23 November and a large binder of indie designers are offering money off patterns. I try to participate every year, only paid for patterns are eligible for challenges but you can use patterns you have bought in the past (of which I have lots). I mostly stick to sock knitting as those go down best for presents.

Glenda sugar bean I need to push on with knitting hub socks for xmas.

I have just got him a deep fat fryer for xmas as a joke because he keeps telling me his Mum make a better chips than me. Practical & it bills up his gift pile ;)
  • NSD - Spending again yesterday so still on 10/20

ORGANISE - I cleaned and organised all kitchen cupboards yesterday. I now have room for Christmas foods and some tins that need to be used really soon.

ENJOY - I enjoyed cleaning the cupboards, going to my knitting group and going to meditation group later. Very busy day.

MAKE - Made food inventory while cleaning cupboards.

EXERCISE - My exercise was climbing up and down step ladders when cleaning cupboards :rotfl:

WINTERPROOF - Before meditation group I did some shopping and have re stocked the medicine cabinet.

YOU- Home made soup and pudding from the freezer for dinner. I only had 30 minutes between getting back from knitting group and leaving for meditation group.

OUTSIDE - Yes, walking to and from knitting group and getting bus into town.

REPORT - I was too tired to post last night but here I am this morning.

    Must get busy now xx
Debt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order :) )
  • Still on 8/20 NSD.

Budget - reached payday with a tiny bit of money in my food/fun budget unspent. Yay! So treated myself and BF to chilli cheese bites from well known fast food establishment (sorry) and gave the rest to a homeless man I see every day on the way to work.

I have just taken on some extra work which means my Fridays are now super busy and planning is even more important. Some of it will help my Spanish but also need to factor in time for leaning. Yesterday managed only 2 hours of spanish. Today will be worse/ although I have listened to some podcasts on the way to appointment earlier.

pay day today and can't wait to sit down properly with my budget spreadsheet and pay some debt off!!!!

    Have a great Friday everyone

Well, that's all the freezer drawers tidied. Now I know exactly what's in them. Unfortunately, what I'm going to do with it all is another matter. What I have discovered is that most of the problem is caused by leftovers being frozen and then not used. We are very guilty of buying the biggest chicken, biggest roasting joint, etc and also cooking too much. So buying smaller items and making less will help. Got a meal plan for next week which involves just buying vegetables tomorrow. Just got to get the portion control right. Next stop the fridge and larder.

We're both doing well with our "no alcohol" and early nights and I have to say feeling the benefit. A good bit of walking is the next step here.

Enjoy your trip, Mothernerd and to everyone else have a good weekend.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.
