Despite some of the thread titles all of the above have up to date suggestions.
Xiaomi are now selling direct in the UK as they have a shop in London:-

Edit: Just checked the prices for the Xiaomi A2 Lite 3/32 version and it's £179 or £199 for the 4/64 version from London.
If you're happy importing from China then I paid £155 (now listed at £150) for the 4/32 version (not available from the London shop). The 3/32 version is £135, these prices are from Gearbest.0 -

EDIT - yes, looked rather simple and free 'shipping'.Colin_Maybe wrote: »Edit: Just checked the prices for the Xiaomi A2 Lite 3/32 version and it's £179 or £199 for the 4/64 version from London.
Do you think they will be jumping on the 'Black Friday' bandwagon??Colin_Maybe wrote: »If you're happy importing from China0 -
May as well spent the extra 20 on the 'better' one???

Hmm, maybe not .... ?
If buying from the London store then you're buying 'UK' phones, although in effect probably the global versions that you can import via Gearbest unless they make some small changes to the ready installed apps.
Yes, I'd go for the 4/64 over the 3/32 for £20 myself.
Black Friday? Who knows, there's certainly no sign of it on the website.0 -

Now that is a good price.
The G6 Play is slower and cheaper, so it depends whether it suits yourself.

As someone has merged my thread I'd better start a new one asking for advice on transferring all my data ....0 -
I have explained about Android One smartphone.
If you use Android One Smartphone, you will get no bloatware with faster software upgrade from the OEMs. Android One devices will get a similar Android experience with Google Pixel devices.

Xiaomi Mi A2 received already Android 9/Pie in India !!! I expect Xiaomi Mi A2 lite also will receive Android 9/Pie upgrade fairly soon.OK - (devils advicate)

Yes, Xiami (Mi A2 and) A2Lite is far more worth £30 than Moto G6plus, Because of Android One device, quick software update, Because of long term software supported by Opensource community.
Moto G6plus is supposed to be upgradable to Android 9, but I am not sure when it would happen. ( since Lenove took over Moto, they even broke the promise... )

2018/19, we really need to focus upon the software update issue, as the hardware is powerful enough to run your daily use comfortably.
Interestingly, Motorola's Android One device, Motorola One is getting Android Pie update in Mexico.

Please do research on Android One Devices.0 -
Good news about the Xiaomi Mi A2 and Android 9, I was expecting it first quarter next year as it's all talk until it actually happens.
I just checked and got excited until I realised it was just the November 90MB security update.0 -

Outside China, Indian market is the biggest customer for Xiami, so first quarter next year is realistic in Europe? It would be better to wait for a couple of months after initial release anyway to fix the bugs.Colin_Maybe wrote: »G

Wow, you have got a timely security update already! :T This is the advantage of Android One devices. You have got one of the most secure Android smartphone in the world, you have received same security update at the latest Google Pixel, But the cost of your Xiaomi Mi 2 Lite is 70-80% cheaper than Google Pixel 3.0 -
I have heard Xiaomi phone gets hot if use intensely. Is it true?0
