I was happily with the Post Office so I could have BT Wholesale service levels without having to deal with BT Retail (I'm an ex BT engineer) unfortunately Post Office Home Phone Broadband moved their service over to TalkTalk LLU and with it my line away from the BT Wholesale kit in the exchange.
Now when I search for availability of fiber I get an error on many web sites as my line is no longer on BT Wholesale.
Be aware you maybe able to get Fiber even if the computer says no, you just need to change supplier.
On contacting suppliers it appears that the most competitive will only offer to cease my current line / number and purchase a new one from BT Wholesale. Hence the big delays in service and loss of number. I've contacted Ofcom and they have explained very clearly that it is the "Gaining provider" that needs to request a transfer rather than a cease. Unfortunately the most competitive ones don't.
Be aware switching to a provider that does not use BT Wholesale equipment can restrict your options in the future.:mad:0 -

This happens to me too. I like the look of the SSE deal but I'd need to ring and would then lose the cashback. Plusnet says I have a line though - I wonder why they're different.0 -
Just a warning about Plusnet, in case anybody's tempted to join them by one of their free Amazon etc voucher offers.
There are postings all over their support pages about non-payment of these offers - and non-payment of cashbach from sites such as Topcashback.
I'm currently struggling to get them to pay up, and I'd warn anybody thinking of switching to Plusnet not to take their offers at face value. You may switch, expecting a substantial payment (around £170 in my case), and then find yourself battling with them to pay up.
TalkTalk may have its detractors, but at least it paid up what it owed.0 -
Quick question...
We are looking to change from orange (or EE, whatever you want to call it) after bad service.
So, we are looking at BT.
We are quite heavy internet users so were hoping for unlimited internet and reasonably fast.
BT have suggested starter + unlimited infinity 1 + weekend calls. This will cost us £34.99 a month (including line rental).
I am curious if anyone has ever done this. It appears that they are giving new customers a visa card gift thing. Can we also get topcashback for this as well??
Thanks for any help received.Mortgage: £0/£80,329.91

You might also consider the Plusnet deal for fibre on MSE - I think Quidco is more than TCB in that case.0 -
Hi,
Just had the news that our Talk Talk package price will be increasing, so I should be able to exit my current deal without any penalties. (I did pay the Value line rental up front but I think I get some of this back?)
I have seen this offer, but it seems to good to be true;
£0.00 Sky broadband unlimited (Free for 12 months)
£16.40 monthly line rental (on a 12 month subscription)
(£16.40*12months = £196.80)
-£95.95 topcashback
-£100 M&S e-voucher
=£0.85 for the year
Am I missing something?
I will call TT before I sign up with Sky, just in case they will match it. Unlikely I think.0 -
Also with TalkTalk there are no refunds on annual prepayment of line rental, or rather, they will take the monthly price and charge you what you would have paid pro rata.
TalkTalk does give a pro rata refund of VLR if you leave:
If you're leaving TalkTalk, we'll apply a credit for any unused value line rental to your final bill. Please wait until you've received this bill before requesting a refund.
(see http://help2.talktalk.co.uk/value-line-rental-0)
You can currently leave TT with no penalty due to the price increase, so you should benefit from the refund of VLR in full. I confirmed this when I phoned them today.0 -

I wonder if I can use that to get my remaining money back, I did not pay for line rental and only pay £2.50 a month, but I am moving and not being conned into one of those 18 month deals with 6 months at full price (see my previous post above).0

We ordered broadband on the EE deal on the 21st or do of April - they said it would be ready by the 1st. The next day when we got the order emails we saw they had put down the wrong door number so we called back and after an hour wait they cancel and replaced the order. Called them yesterday 8th May so that's one week after their estimated date as still no phone or broadband - apparently the order was still wrong and will take another 10 days to complete - really poor service & very frustrating!!0
