  • Hi all,

I'm looking to take out the BT fibre offer as per martins newsletter and the option he mentioned was to take out the phone line rental as a pay up front saving about £34. however when I follow the link there is no option to take the line rental out as a one off. It looks like the option is there but nothing to select it. Anyone else found this and know how to resolve.

Can I phone up after and change to this?

    thanks

Not sure about ringing up, but you can definitely do it online.

I've always thought it was better to pay monthly until you're set up, in case things go really badly and you need to abandon ship and go elsewhere. That way you don't have to try and get your year's line rental back.
  • Anyone ordered 38-40Mb fibre & BT Vision box with entertainment pk via MSE link prior to midnight last nite having difficultly with the £2.5 reduced entertainment subscription as BT know nothing about it? Ta
  • Hi all, forgive a newbie question! My neighbours, in their early eighties, are about to leap into the wonderful world of the internet! They don't use laptops or PC's, it's just that he is getting an IPad for his birthday, and they want to have the internet for that, and for when the grandchildren visit, but that's about it. Will be looking at a line rental/broadband package as they rarely use mobiles, and still use the landline a lot (currently BT). I'm currently looking at the very latest offers from Talk Talk, but any advice/recommendations would be gratefully appreciated! Kind Regards, SanD:)

My Plusnet Final statement has just appeared.
It includes a £30 "Cease Fee", which will be taken through Direct Debit. This is supposed to be because EE does not use the MAC code to take over the line.

Rang up EE, and they say I cannot send the final bill by e-mail.
Must send printed paper final bill to:

    EE Broadband Registration Support
    Nexus House
    Senhouse Road
    Darlington DL1 4YB

£30 will be applied as an account credit. We shall see.

I assume that this was an "active line take over" so there was no termination of service?

Having read your post I contacted Plusnet who told me there is no fee for an active line takeover as there is no need for a MAC code as set out in the linked document. I would challenge plusnet on there fee as it is only supposed to apply to ceasing the line and not an active takeover

Hi all. Has anyone else signed up to BT a couple of weeks ago with Martin's offer? It mentions £30 cash back alongside the Sainsbury offer and that a cheque will arrive within 30 days. I've had no confirmation about the cash back and don't trust a cheque appearing at my house. There was no mention of cash back anywhere when I signed up. Anyone else heard or seen anything? Thank you.

leeus1 - you sound like you got further than me. BT cancelled my order but didn't bother to tell me and happily took my MAC code 2 days later. Still trying to resolve this

Currently with TalkTalk, who don't seem over-inclined to negotiate on their standard rates for phone+basic broadband.

The Plusnet deals at the moment are good, but they're giving an estimated speed of only 1mbps - TalkTalk gives me 3.5mbps.

Can't understand why Plusnet would give me a slower speed than I get from TalkTalk, though I appreciate that TalkTalk have their own kit in the exchange. You'd have expected Plusnet (using the BT kit) to at least equal the speed - not cut it by 2/3.

Anyone have any idea why Plusnet are estimating such a low speed? Are they being unduly pessimistic, or is BT kit really so inferior to TalkTalk's?

Could someone point out if it's generally allowed to take a BB contract with you when you move to another address? Or are the contracts only applicable to the single address that you start out with?

hi, I signed up last minute for the MSE blagged Plusnet deal on the weekend before it expired. Now the broadband offers page has altered - so the info on how to make sure you get the £100 cashback isn't available any more.
Does anyone know how it works?
    Thanks!
