I cant wait for my year to be up with Pop Telecom.
1) charged for 0845 and 0870 numbers when should be free did get a refund when pointed it out 3rd month into my contract.
2) being charged for 03 numbers when OFCOM say should be treated same as 01 and 02 in inclusive packages.
3) have to keep chaseing my bill supposed to be sent 26th of each month and i have had to ask three times so i know what is coming out my bank on 1st month finaly being told on phone today 26th dispite the fact i pay £1-99 for a paper bill
4)it advertises as free customer services when in fact they are charging me and my contract says this is charged as advertised on their site
I was told would be about £28 per month and have three bills so far in region of £45
5) if not paying by direct debit charge £1-99
I could go on and on the worst company i have been with roll on October .0 -

So if line rental is £13 per month and broadband is £2 (I don't know what you're paying) and you have 8 months to go at switch, the charge should be £120 or less - EE will make a contribution up to £100 for termination charges see here (not the best reviews but they sound a lot better than Pop) or use one of the others listed on MSE. Either way, you should still save by switching and sounds like you would be a lot happier. Good luck.0 -
I had a look at the recommendations for Fibre 76Mbps on the MSE page and and on querying PlusNet I was surprised to see that whilst you can pay the line rental up front for approx £155 for 12mths, the (separate) FTTC contract is for 18mths.
After 12mths of pre-paid line rental are up then you have to pay £15.95pm (£95 for 6mths) or you can again pay 12mths line rental up front - which means you are basically stuck with them for another 6mths after the FTTC contract ends, being unable to move away to another provider for internet without losing 6mths (~£75) of line rental.
At this stage, most people then would probably renew the Fibre for another 18mths with them as it's easier which would mean since they are existing customers and have no leverage (such as threatening to leave), then they would not get any deals and would have to pay the full £19.99pm for the Fibre. The line rental can be renewed and paid up front for 12mths again until finally both contracts come to an end at the same time. This would mean that PlusNet have snared you as a customer for 3yrs and you would have to pay everything at FULL PRICE (except upfront line rental) for the last 18mths.
This deal promoted on MSE for PlusNet appears to be a big CON! They should at least let you get a reduction in the line rental for the whole period. Evidently, this is a ploy by the company to confuse and trap.0 -
I was with PlusNet but have changed to EE at the beginning of January. PlusNet are trying to charge me a £30.00 cessation fee even though this should be a simple migration to another provider. I have done this at least six times before without any problems. Buyer beware.0

My Plusnet Final statement has just appeared.
It includes a £30 "Cease Fee", which will be taken through Direct Debit. This is supposed to be because EE does not use the MAC code to take over the line.
Rang up EE, and they say I cannot send the final bill by e-mail.
Must send printed paper final bill to:
EE Broadband Registration Support
Nexus House
Senhouse Road
Darlington DL1 4YB
£30 will be applied as an account credit. We shall see.0 -
Last February Sky gave me free line rental for 12 months and I only had to pay £7.50 for the Unlimited Broadband package.
I was on O2 previously and I think that was a good promotion to encourage me to stay. The Sky broadband and phone has worked well 99% of the time.
12 months later I rang them to renegotiate / cancel and they offered free broadband, £40 credit to my account and line rental of £16.40.
Is this a good deal ? Caller ID is included and I have been happy with the service.
** EDIT ** Just rang them (to ask for my MAC code) and credit offer upped to £60 so happy to agree a new 12 month contract.0 -
Any pointers to 3G or 4G access for mainstream BB use? Not too keen on being tied down to a landline in a conventional setup.0
