I'm currently with Plusnet and the contract is nearly up.
Saw a deal on USwitch for O2 with large cashback. Called the 0800 number and put through to O2.
Offered an incredible deal of £4.25 b/band and £13.90 line rental (I have an O2 mobile contract) and told would have £200 credit put on my O2 mobile contract - so b/band and line rental for less than £18 for the year...
However, the man I spoke with did not call back so I tried calling again. This time spoke with a lady who explained it all needed to be dealt with the week as O2 is being taken over by Sky.
Having Googled this I am rather wary. Sky appear to have a poor reputation for customer service and what if the £200 doesn't get to my O2 account - I could be paying more than I am presently and locked into possibly poor service.
I am still undecided - but wanted others to be aware of the full story before making a similar decision.0 -

This is old news and there are old threads on the subject in this section.
Whatever the deal you get from 02, Sky would have to honour it , until your current contract ends. The changeover is also going to take up to 18 months.0 -
I am just at the end of my contract with Plusnet.
Looking for a cheaper deal, I contacted O2 via USwitch.
Offered phone @ £13.90 per month and unlimited broadband half price @ £6.25 - should equal £20.15. I have an O2 mobile on contract so qualify for the extra discount.
On the phone the adviser stated my monthly DD would be £19.25 with additional £3 on first month for router delivery charge.
They have now set up my account and looking at it on my O2 under My Package this is what I see:
My package
The All Rounder
Full monthly charge*
£ 28.00 Line rental included
Monthly charge including offers*
£ 19.25
Contract
12 months
Then, over to the right hand side I have this:
My package
Evening & Weekend Calls
Monthly charge*
£ 2.50
This looks to me like I will be charged £19.25 PLUS £2.50 =
£21.75
Phoned O2 and the man I spoke to could not clarify.
On O2's own website, it says:
Our Broadband and Home Phone packages include Home broadband, home phone line rental and the Evening and Weekend calls package (unlimited calls between 6pm and 6am during the week and all weekend).
It also says:
All Rounder
Enjoy music and catch up on your favourite TV. Perfect for smaller household. Up to 16meg Unlimited From £25.50 per month
for 12 months 12 months
half price
Would someone who is currently with O2 please confirm whether the inclusive call package is shown separately on their My O2, or do the get charged the two figures added together?
Have to say, not a great start...0 -
I am looking for a non packaged deal. Plusnet is BT in disguise and bill has trebled. I use Skype, far cheaper than the rest and no line charges. Tesco as always is a complete con.
This website only has main players. Can anyone help regarding a non mainplayer broadband only supplier0 -
Are you aware that O2 are now Sky Broadband!0

Plusnet have a habit of tellling you, usually just before your billing period ends that you have exceeded your monthly gb allowance and will be charged £5 for 5gb extra. Sounds fair initially but consider:
Are you really going to use 50% of your monthly allowance over a few hours or a day or two? The sting in the tail is that if you do go over your 10gb/month allowance and buy an extra £5/5gb allowance you loose that additional allowance as soon as the next billable period commences. Potential Plusnet customers need to be aware of this practice.0 -
Under TalkTalk Essential's terms and conditions they also offer £50 call credit to new customers. This is in addition to the 12 months half price broadband and Martin's "blagged" £100 shopping voucher, making the deal even better….. but ONLY for migrating customers, NOT customers already with them whose contract has ended and are looking to renew.
As far as Talktalk are concerned the Essentials deal is only available to existing customers (even though they are out of contract) for full price at £6.50 per month + line rental, without any vouchers or call credit.
After phoning to complain I was offered 2 months half price and the remaining 10 months full price - a discount of £6.50! I asked for my MAC code and was put through to Customer Retentions. After repeating the deal for new customers and adding that I had been with TalkTalk for 10 years and also wouldn't be incuring the cost of a new router, I asked why existing customers were getting worse deals than new.
I was first offered 12 months Essentials at half price (£3.25)
then 12 months Essentials at half price (£3.25) + a monthly discount of £2
then 12 months Essentials at half price (£3.25) + a monthly discount of £2 + a call credit of £30.
However the whole thing took essentially a morning of being put through to different depts, consulting Supervisors and Managers and call-backs. It wasn't a single call and I felt brow-beaten at the end of it lol. So whether it was time well-spent, I'm not entirely sure. It seems the telecoms industry have become like car insurance where you need to move providers every year to achieve good value.
Incidentally Topcashback are offering £35 on Martin's Tesco recommendation of £15.40 which doesn't bring it that far off TalkTalk Essentials' various offers for EXISTING customers, especially if you have a Tescos clubcard. I think were the same offers to exist next year I would simply be alternating between the two companies in the future come every renewal.0 -
I've rang Talk talk over 5 time since I last signed a 12 mth contract
They told me they'd send out the contract but never do
I think there tricks are to get you on the 13th mth at ridulocus price to average out for given a 12 mth arguded down price0 -
Sky are now charging me £14.50 line rental + £7.50 for unlimited broadband, so it seems I have to switch to get a better deal. I would do the Talktalk deal, but I know several people who have had nightmares with them customer-servicewise, which puts me off somewhat. What's Tesco's reputation like? BT is tempting for the sport which would work out about £6 more than Tesco per month per my quick calculations.0

Hi, a massive thank you.
I tried to get a better package from my broadband provider a couple of weeks ago but wasn't happy with what they were offering and decided to give it all some thought.
Then today I came home, saw Martin's weekly email about Talk Talk where you can get phone line and broadband for £12.75pm (without the voucher).
The offer ends today and my provider closes at 8pm - this was 7pm! I called them straight away and they offered to match £12.75, upped my meg to the max and are sending a new router free.
This is way more than I asked for a couple of weeks ago and gave me the leverage to get a fantastic deal so am really very grateful and super chuffed! THANK YOU!!!!
