I just wanted to stick a word in for Plusnet - I've found them to be great. My exchange is bundled, so can't get the really cheap offers - which checking through my bills I noticed I was paying more than I should be (had me on an old rate, £17.99 for 60GB when £16.99 for unlimited was available - I know that seems expensive but it was the best available anywhere when I signed up 18 months ago or so).
Before just dumping them and switching, I rang to grumble about them not automatically changing me to the lower rate and see if I could get a bit off - without any effort they put me on the lower rate, gave me it half price for a year, and told me I could save another £3.50 or so by paying line rental up front. Result is I've gone from £32 a month to £19 a month, and for a better service too. Best customer service I've ever dealt with.0 -
The answer by email from Primus:
"...we are unable to transfer the telephone number to our LLU network due to the number belonging to Virgin Media. As the number is registered with them, we are unable to port the number to our LLU network which means the only way we can proceed is by assigning a new telephone number.Sorry for any inconvenience"

Hi Malti, thanks for your forum post. As far as I am aware, the new TalkTalk unlimited package is just that, "unlimited". There is a fair usage policy attached to it though, which will restrict peer-to-peer file sharing in peak times: http://www.talktalk.co.uk/legal/fup.html?utype=nonmember
I cannot see anything about a 40GB limit online, but if you have any info, please post it and I'll take a look (and amend the Cheap Broadband guide if necessary).
Many thanks,
MSE Becca
Hi, if you follow the link you posted and follow the further link: http://www.talktalk.co.uk/legal/broadband-traffic-management/ you'll see that "TalkTalk Broadband, including Essentials" is limited to 40gb download/upload limit, which is what he was referring to I believe.
The only package with unlimited data traffic is "TalkTalk Plus TV, Phone and Broadband" on that page.
So "Talk Talk Essentials" stating "Unlimited broadband" on their sign up page would appear to be misleading at best.
So I guess the moral of this tale is read the small print. And then some.
Also your article on TalkTalk Unlimited states "Traffic shaping: None" which is clearly incorrect as they do shape P2P traffic as well.
Sky Unlimited on the other hand can claim to be truly unlimited as it has no download/upload limits and no Traffic Shaping either, which is not mentioned in your article. See here:
"Sky's Unlimited broadband is not subject to traffic management. This means that we won’t reduce your speed at anytime regardless of how much you upload or download."Blessed are the geeks, for they shall inherit the Internet.0 -
Hi all,
After using O2 BB for 2 years I am looking for a good broadband deal. O2 servicewas alright but existing customers never get best deal. so switching now.
Looking at options I found EE best so far.
EE Off peak (existing T-Mobile customer)
Unlimited BB
Line Rental (£14/month)
BB - £5/month
Total for 1 Year (19x12) = 228- 30(EE welcome credit)-100 (Q****cash back) =98/12 = £8.1 (BB +rental) per month
Looks good deal:money:, but questions I have..
Q1. How terrible is EE broadband service?
Q2. How terrible is EE customer service?
Q3. Cash back from Q**** is real?
Q4. Since most ISP are increasing charges, EE already done that? or planningto do that?
Q5. Do I need to topup my T-Mobile often to get this discount..? I gotvarious answers from call centres..!!!
Q6. How many simultaneous connections can be done on EE router..? 4 or 8 or32..I got different answers from different call centre guys..
Thanks.

Hi Blackjack Davy, thanks for pointing me in the direction of where it said that.
I have spoken to TalkTalk and they have confirmed that it is definitely unlimited. They have now changed the table in the link you sent:
I hope this helps,

I don't think Martin realizes that Orange have withdrawn their free broadband offer for customers. Some of the links on their website are still active but when you try to order it a new set of options are offered - £5 is the cheapest and that is a bit dodgy cos Orange take over your call charges as well!
Yes I've had two call from EE, one trying to get me to switch line rental to them and the other telling e I'm paying £5.11 per month for my broadband when I have a free contract and pay that for the 'rental' of their livebox which gives me free calls anytime. They are dropping the calls option but still want to charge me for my free broadband!0 -
I tried to join up (last day today!) to take advantage of the Love2shop voucher and was told that switching from Plusnet to Talk, even though they confirm that this is a line which they can simply switch, qualifies as a re-activate and therefore does not qualify for a voucher. Their website, however, states:
"£50 Love2shop voucher is only available to customers who purchase online and who don't require a new telephone line. The voucher will be recouped by logging into your TalkTalk My Account (talktalk.co.uk/myaccount) after your broadband connection has gone live. Offer ends 07/02/2013."
I'm going to try anyhow. Logic(?) tells me they must honour the voucher0 -
Today Plus Net have refused to honour the MSE blagged deal - or a similar deal from Homephonechoices - as these are apparently "third party deals" (even although these direct to a page on plusnet's own website!!)... Very dissappointing and v. poor customer relations from plusnet (having been with them for over 8 years!)0
