How long have you been with Plusnet?
I have been with them for 2 years and have the 60Gb limit Braodband-only service. Recently a flatmate moved in and we went over the limit for 2 months in a row. So I went on cashback website and applied for an unlimited broadband with BE for £8.50/month for 12 months.
When I asked for the MAC code from Plusnet, the guy was very helpful and within 5 mins he offered double the usage (120Gb now) and for the same price as BE - £8.50 without a contract - so I will virtually be charged £8.50 "forever" for 120Gb usage. (I cancelled BE with no issue)
BE might still be a better deal with unlimited broadband, but now I don't have to go through the hassle of changing out internet hub, and after 12 months I will still get charged the same amount where BE reverts to £17/month and I would have to change supplier again to get the best deal.
So what I am trying to say is if you have been with Plusnet for a period of time try to speak to them and get a reasonable long-term price rather than changing supplier every 12 months. I have the BT pay-in-advance for £129.
I am pretty happy with under £20/month phone+broadband that I don't have to swap supplier every 12 months.
Hope it works for you.
I am with them a year. When I emailed them I got the following response,
Dear Mrs XXX,
Thank you for your query. I have checked your account and from 11/10/12 when your discounts expire, your Broadband will be £12.99 a month, so this is how much you would pay going forward.
If you were to take out phone with us the costs would be as follows;
Line rental £12.99
Talk Evenings and Weekends; Free
Includes Evenings & Weekend calls to
UK landlines, 0845 & 0870 numbers*
Includes Voicemail
Includes FREE calls to Plusnet Home Phone customers
Free calls to Plusnet Support
Talk Anytime; £3.50 a month
Includes calls to UK landlines,
0845 & 0870 numbers*
Includes 25% discount on calls to international numbers^
Includes Voicemail
Includes FREE calls to Plusnet Home Phone customers
Free calls to Plusnet Support
So to confirm the minimum package cost combined would be £25.98.0 -
Hi,
I'm finally at the end of my dreadful Orange broadband experience and now looking around for the best value deal for line rental and broadband.
There seems to be a lot of different combinations out there.
But just going on what MSE recommends this can be topped by using topcashback which gives £60.60 instead of the £50 voucher, which works out £7.70p/m as opposed to £8.58p/m (every little helps! )
I'm also getting 1/2 price sky at £12.50.
So this would work a total of £20.20 p/m for TV+Line Rental+Broadband.
Can this be driven any cheaper!?0 -
Not in a cable area so need line rental as well as broadband, looking at the talktalk bundle £8.58 pm if you include the £50 voucher just wondering if this the best offer if we were to never use the land line.
And also would 14Mb speed be enough if there were 4 people using it at the same time?0 -
I have just renewed my Talktalk package, i paid the phone rental upfront ( £114.00 ) i think but talktalk essentials at half price-£3.25 less a discount of £2.00 that i got last year plus a rebate of £1.50 per month that means broadband and call package for minus £0.25 per month! what a result:D
Ganga
Hi Ganga / everyone
As a current customer did you get offered the 3.25 per month boardband and 114 per year line rental?
Ive been with talktalk for around 4 years and now TalkTalk seem to be offering me 114 for the line rental and boardband at 6.50 per month - when pushed he gave me only 2 months broadband at 3.25 :-(. Thinking of moving but not sure i can face the hassle and delay?
Anyone had any better offers from talktalk as current customers?

Perhaps you should read the above post from Patr100 on 4-8-2012. Not sure where the quote is from but its very interesting info.
I think I'm going to ask for advice at the local independant computor shop.0 -
Hi,
I would like to join talktalk essentials but it "appears" that it is not available in my area though neighbours around me seem to have talktalk.
https://www.samknows.com/broadband/broadband_checker says "TalkTalk (CPW) is available in your area"
https://sales.talktalk.co.uk/sales/availability says "We're sorry, our checks show that the address you have entered is outside of our network"
Also when I go through the "No, I don't have a landline number or I want a new landline" option it allows me to proceed, but I dont want a new landline!
Can anyone offer any advice regarding the eligibility check that might clarify the above for me? Many Thanks

My parents have their broadband with O2 - legacy package Premium for which they pay £18 per month minus £5 as my Mam has an O2 mobile PAYG SIM.
My Mam likes to watch TV on the internet and they do the odd bit of music downloading but as they are in their late 60's early 70's they don't do much more than that.
They are in the process of searching for a new telephone provider (purely to save some money) and are currently with BT on a direct debit pay monthly tariff. They use override phone services in order to get cheaper phone calls and are with Sky for TV.
Would it be worth them switching to Sky for their broadband (as I see broadband with Sky is not throttled and is unlimited) and possibly their phone line too or should they stick with O2 for the broadband?0 -
I am currently signed up with Plusnet for broadband only but my contract is due for renewal at the beginning of October and it is increasing to £12.99 a month.
Is it possible to take out a new contract with Plusnet but in my husband's name because then we could have broadband for the first 3 months at £3.24 a month and £6.49 for the following 9 months? We could also change our phone line from BT and pay for 12 months in advance which would cost £113.88 and then the only other thing we would need is caller display which is 99p a month. Talk evening and weekends would then be free. Total cost for the year for broadband and line rental (including free evening and weekend calls) would be £193.89 instead of £155.88 for only broadband.
Is it possible to get a new contract in hubby's name as my contract is due for renewal next week?0 -

Yesterday Virgin offered me £120 for 12 Months line rental to be paid in full in advance (equiv to £10pm). Plus £7.60 for cable Internet and eve/weekend calls. So equiv total of £17.60pm. Not sure if you are in a cable area. Hope this helps you/someone.0
