I use the internet loads, and have never been over my allowance with my current provider. I am thinking about using Sky+ anytimes service once my new phone line is in, so will probably upgrade to unlimited broadband with Primus, just in case.

It will still be a cheap deal, for phone and broadband combined.

    Update:

I had my new phone & broadband activated today. I phoned up Primus to upgrade my broadband, and was offered up to 40GB data allowance (the same as I had with my previous provider which I have never gone over), plus evening & weekend calls (including landline), for £15.78 monthly (18 month contract).

I could have had unlimited but would have cost £21 approx. I will monitor my useage regularly with them, AnVir task manager has noted 43.7 mb received, and 4.9 mb sent so far today, so should be well within my limit, even watching the odd streamed film.

    Extremely good value. :j

I'm currently getting speeds of 135 mbps wirelessly on my netbook, so pleased I went with Primus. My speed seems to be increasing each day, so is perhaps a learning curve. :D

It may not be the cheapest at first glance, but has excellent UK based customer service, and fast internet speeds, with 40GB allowance, as well as free calls evenings, and weekends, so is very cheap for what I'm actually getting.

135 mbps. The small print on their page doesn't state what speed you get, only this:

"...Broadband Speed - We give you the fastest broadband your phone line can handle. The exact speed you get depends on the quality of your phone line and where you live..."

It was a steady 135 mbps earlier, but is now fluctuating as it has done at certain times. I had BT Open reach install new wiring, and an extension socket, and my router is plugged into my sky+ box only, so is wireless. I cannot get broadband from Sky in my area, unless I sign up for Sky connect, so it is only coming from the Primus connection.

Its now fluctuating between 27 and 81 mbps currently. :p:D

That's local speeds.. Not internet connection speed.

135Mbps would equate to almost 17MB/s download speed which is not possible. Primus offer max connection speeds of 24Mbps.

I've just looked at my welcome letter, and it does state up to 24 MB broadband for me. Not sure if that makes a difference. I was just reading what my 2 different monitors (native wireless, and the other anvir task manager) stated regarding speed, whether local, or not.

Its still reading 135 mbps. I'm still happy. :)

I was contacted on 31st May 2012 by a VM salesperson trying to get me to upgrade my subscription which would include TV to my existing package of 30Mb broadband and Telephone. At first the deal offered wasn't of interest and i thanked the salesperson and the call was ended.

The salesperson phoned back 10 minutes later and said she could offer me a better deal. This time the deal was very appealing and I accepted. The deal offered on the 2nd call was 60Mb broadband, XL TV and Telephone with free weekend calls for an initial £22.50 for the first 3 months and then £38.90 p/m thereafter. An installation date was set for June 15th. On June the 14th I was sent a contract with a price of £38.90 for 3 months and then £58.90 p/m thereafter, this was not the deal agreed.

I phoned VM to raise this issue, the person I spoke to was unable to help me, and said there was nothing he could do, I subsequently cancelled the installation. I have phoned VM further to try and get an explanation for the change, however i was told nothing they could do, i have to send an email to Head Office.

I recieved a reply that said "Having taken a look at things for you I can see that a member of our sales team called you on 31st May to offer a new deal. I’m sorry to say that particular call wasn’t recorded, and the notes haven't registered the deal offered"

So in a word, tough, we can say anything we want on the phone to get you to sign up, we will leave it as late as possible to send you a contract, and hopefully you won't notice that the deal offered doesn't exist. Thank you for your custom.

I wish i could take this further, but i have no written proof. VirginMedia can be the best and the worst company
