Speed shouldn't be affected by Firewall or AV.

I have just switched from AOL to Talk Talk...
I was aware that the contract with AOL was not due until May and when I rang AOL to ask what the penalty for leaving would be I was informed that it would be two months payments - £58
This put me off somewhat but I was quite keen to get the Talk Talk deal as it ends tonight at midnight

When I rang Talk Talk & explained this to them they informed me that they had taken over AOL along with Tiscalli and some others!...So no penalty costs to pay after all! :j
So in all I am happy bunny as I have managed to get a saving of £134.73 on my annual broadband & phone costs plus paid upfront for line rental & saved another £50 and to put the icing on the cake I got £40.40 TopCashback on top!
:heartpuls Gains & £'s saved..Far too many to mention! Needless to say I LOVE MSE! :heartpuls

Plusnet broadband, £1.83 a month for 12 months
£1 a month broadband (10GB) for 12 months. You have to buy a voucher first for £10 through Incahoot. Works out at £1.83 per month, which seems a good deal. You also need a phone line, which can be £9.49 if you pay a year in advance. So, 10GB broadband and free evening and weekend calls for, effectively £11.32 a month.

I have never heard of Incahoot before, has anybody had any dealings with them?
Very tempted. Probably won’t be able to get the £38.38 topcashback though, but, you never know!0 -
I am with Virgin Media. They have just increased my account very high. I was going to leave them last year 2011 but, gave me an incentive to stay. I have been with them for many years. My problem is, I need to keep my phone number. I wish I had known many years ago that I would have this phone number problem. Other ISP's are not able to transfer my currant number. Can anyone give me advice please. Thankyou.0

TakTalk just made me an offer I could not refuse, I have been with TT for a number of years and had been contemplating leaving, service OK but communications c**p Any way I spotted they were offering new punters £114 line rental up front : 1/2 price Essentials package (£3.50) so that was my target but I felt that I could shave more from the deal. Anyway did the usual trick of phoning loyalty team (direct line number 01772375887) four times until I found a person in South Africa that was really interested in keeping my custom. Indian centre staff less flexible and would not play ball despite me threatening to go to Primus for a basic package for £149 per year upfront. My offer that I accepted was 12 month contract with broadband boost, Up front line rental £114, essentials package 9 months @ £1.50 followed by 3 months at £3.50 Total outlay for year £135 = £11.25 a month.0

That is a great deal johne2010
I have just got that exact same bottom line price with Tesco Broadband without haggling on an unlimited BB deal (the Essentials on Talk Talk is up to 40GB).
Go via TopCashBack.com to get £60 back
12 month Tesco unlimited BB + phone line + evening / w'end calls
@ £16.25 (less the £60 from TCB) = £11.25 / month
(-) you may cancel within first 90 days with no penalties
(-) there are no installation, connection or other set-up fees
(-) free router supplied0 -
Direct question for Martin; why do you exclude Utility Warehouse? At £12.99 non LLU where I live, and £5.99 (£2.99 for 9 months) in LLU areas, I don't know of anyone cheaper.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0

As said elsewhere, I worried about my finances as I now only receive DLA and sadly my Mum passed away two weeks ago and though her savings are low it has affected other help I received and until I know where I am and probably have to reduce Mum's savings so I receive help again(not on anything silly or big purchases)just paying rent, community charge, gas, electric and food...(it won't take long to see the money go)I have given up the TV so I don't pay the TV license. I listen to the radio and I would go stir crazy if I could not use my computer and access the internet.
I have just signed up to Plusnet and saved £3.49 on the line rental I have no one to phone and its evenings/weekends If I do decide to use it and I think they allow £55 credit towards calls.
I need to line just so I can access the net. I have free BB for six months. I was going to go for the lowest package but saving money on the line I went for one of the more expensive packages using what I had saved on the phone line rental. I have agreed to this package whilst I was able and before I come into Mum's savings.
But I was told by Plusnet that I can switch between packages at any time. Also that there is access between Midnight and 8am and that will not affect my normal package allowance.
So is £184.94 reasonable for one year's access? I don't suppose I'll cancel now(Might next year)but the Tesco's package mentioned seems interesting. The second year of Plusnet if I remain with them would be £256.88. Still not bad I suppose.
I may find that I don't need 60gb(especially if I use the overnight access)
Until now Mum paid the line rental and so I was just paying the internet connection but that wasn't good as it was dial up(200 hours a month)and you get disconnected every two hours. But having to pay everything myself this seemed a reasonable deal and a friend in Mum's nursing home on restpite care was using it and persuaded me it was a good deal.
My line goes live in approx 7 days.
I did not know of the voucher and I suspect its too late to use now..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson
